Browns Unveil Historic New Alternate Uniforms in Must-See Video

Browns Unveil Historic New Alternate Uniforms in Must-See Video originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns will play in the franchise's 77th season in 2025 with a new look. Announced live on The Pat McAfee Show, Cleveland's mascot "Brownie" unveiled a historic new helmet, which matches new uniforms dropped on social media. For the first time in team history, the Browns will wear brown helmets. The team also released a hype video commemorating the new caps, with the caption reading, "a new look up top, molded by hardened toughness." Cleveland will wear these new uniforms three times this upcoming season. The uniform set is named the "Alpha Dawg". Here are the games where Cleveland will wear the their new threads instead of the traditional orange helmets: Week 3: Sunday Sept. 21 vs. Green Bay Packers Week 7: Sunday Oct. 19 vs. Miami Dolphins Week 14: Sunday Dec. 7 vs. Tennessee Titans The new look hopes to evoke a swagger that gets the team back into winning ways this season. Last year, the team fell to a 3-14 record after reaching the playoffs off a 11-6 regular season the year before. The 2024 win total is the Browns' lowest since their 0-16 finish in 2017. This uniform change comes in a potentially pivotal point in Browns history as this year's rookie class has a chance to impact the team in a big way. Joining newly-paid cornerstone Myles Garrett on the defensive line is No. 5 overall pick Mason Graham out of Michigan. Offensively, rookies quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are set to enter a four-man competition at training camp with Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, where the youngsters are believed to have a legit shot at seeing action at some point this season. 'They're telling me I'll fit right in with this team. You know, attacking, being disruptive on the front and playing alongside other great players is only going to make this better,' Graham said. 'I've been really close in Michigan these past few years so in Cleveland, I feel like I'll just come in and fit right in. This defensive, this culture that the team has… I can tell everyone is about business and wants to get back on top.' Browns Draft-Day Decision Reinforced by Analyst

Browns Draft-Day Decision Reinforced by Analyst originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns took a big risk in this year's NFL Draft and can only hope it pays dividends early. The Browns traded the No. 2 overall pick and the No. 104 overall pick in the fourth round and the No. 200 pick in the sixth round to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for the No. 5 pick, the No. 36 pick in the second round, the No. 126 pick and a 2026 first-round pick. Advertisement With that No. 5 pick, Cleveland selected Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, and the Jags took wideout/corner Travis Hunter at No. 2 - presumably who the Browns would've taken had they not traded the selection. Initial reaction to the trade was positive from most analysts. Now, with time to consider it further, Sam Monson still likes the trade for Cleveland, as he noted on the ˆ podcast. 'I still think the smart move is to pick up the extra first-round pick next year if for no other reason than you need the quarterback, not the guy who plays corner or wide receiver," Monson said. The Browns also took quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the third and fifth rounds, respectively. While they've got options now under center this summer, there are some who believe they'll use one of their first-round picks next season to go quarterback again. Advertisement Matt Miller of ESPN predicts that the Browns will run through the 2025 schedule and land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and decide to go a different direction at quarterback by selecting Clemson's Cade Klubnik with that pick. "Spending two picks on quarterbacks in 2025 -- Dillon Gabriel (third round) and Shedeur Sanders (fifth round) -- shouldn't prevent the Browns from looking for a long-term passer here," Miller wrote. "Klubnik enters the season as my No. 1 QB. In 2024, he threw for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions, highlighted by a gutsy performance against Texas in the College Football Playoff (336 passing yards, three TDs, one INT). "Klubnik reminds me of Baker Mayfield -- whom Cleveland selected with the No. 1 pick in 2018 -- in terms of arm strength, mobility and playmaking awareness." Michigan's Rayshaun Benny, overlooked DT, ready to dominate 2025 defense

Many have perhaps underestimated the impending 2025 Michigan football defense due to having lost players such as defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, as well as edge rusher Josaiah Stewart, and cornerback Will Johnson to the NFL. But there's another potential star on defense that isn't getting talked about -- at least not by most. Yet, there are high expectations for fifth-year defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny entering the 2025 season. Benny is expected to lead the seemingly deep group, but he isn't getting the national attention that his predecessors had. Yet, he's considered to be the best returning Big Ten defensive tackle, according to PFF. ESPN put together its list of the best college players at their positions in order to preview the 2026 NFL draft, and the only Wolverine who made the list was Rod Moore. Yet, the worldwide leader even acknowledged it didn't really know what to do with Benny. Player outside of the top five to watch: Rayshaun Benny, Michigan. Another year, another Wolverines defensive lineman to watch. The 6-4, 296-pound Benny will be tasked with replacing first-rounder Mason Graham. The fifth-year senior had only 1.5 sacks last season as a rotational player but has breakout potential. He ended the season playing his best ball, sharing Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping Michigan upset Ohio State. Benny was a standout reserve in 2023, the national championship season, before he broke his leg in the Rose Bowl against Alabama. The other players on ESPN's list include a player from Clemson, three from the SEC (Alabama, Georgia, and Florida), and one from Penn State. Of course, time will tell whether or not Benny proves the pundits wrong, but at least ESPN is questioning whether or not it made a mistake not putting him on the list.

Browns 2nd-Round Pick Makes Preseason All-Rookie Team

Browns 2nd-Round Pick Makes Preseason All-Rookie Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns had what many believe to be a successful NFL Draft this year, and the team upgraded several positions on defense. Advertisement Their first overall pick at No. 5, Mason Graham, is expected to be a Day 1 contributor in Cleveland and was named to the Preseason All-Rookie team. Now, his new teammate, and Browns second-round pick, Carson Schwesinger, has also been given that same honor. Gennaro Filice named his team earlier this week. "The first pick of the second round is one of the more interesting stories in this draft class. Schwesinger arrived at UCLA as a walk-on and didn't see much action beyond special teams during his first three years with the program," Filice wrote. "This past fall, though, he entered the starting lineup in the third week of the season and never looked back, earning first-team All-America honors after leading the nation with 90 solo tackles. Rangy and instinctive with skills to defend against the run or pass, Schwesinger fits the mold of the modern off-ball linebacker. Advertisement "And playing behind Cleveland's Myles Garrett-led front should keep the rookie pretty clean, allowing him to fly around the field and stuff the stat sheet." The Browns had a need of playmakers on offense, which makes the selection of Schwesinger all the more surprising. But it shows how high the linebacker was on their board. The big question mark surrounding starting linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah might've prompted the Browns to draft Schwesinger, as JOK's season ended prematurely last year after a neck injury and his return timetable is uncertain.
