We're calling it: this is the chic handbag colour fashion people will be choosing over black this autumn

If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more Be it a structured crossbody or a slouchy hobo tote, a little black bag (like a little black dress and a little black top) has long been the solution to many of my fashion conundrums. But earlier this week, I walked past the Massimo Dutti store on High Street Kensington and a braided leather shopper in what I can only describe as the most expensive-looking shade of white in the window caught my eye. Instantly, I opened the app and bookmarked it. Admittedly, I've always avoided bright white handbags because they have a reputation for being seasonal (they're often considered a summer-only accessory) and high maintenance (they're trickier to keep clean or show wear more quickly than dark-coloured handbags). However, if you look at the designer bags from Burberry, Toteme and Loewe, you'll notice that they come in rich' white colours, like oat, chalk and bone, rather than crisp white hues. Off-white handbags are easier to maintain and feel more practical. But more importantly, they look just as chic with linen dresses and co-ords in summer, as they do with chunky knits and wool coats come winter, which is why you'll see them slung over every influencer's shoulder. Ahead, I've shared my pick of the best off-white handbags to buy now and wear into autumn – including, of course, the one from Massimo Dutti that kicked off my obsession, although it's not available to buy online yet. Portuguese Inditex workers strike over alleged non-compliance since 2019
Workers at the stores of Spanish business Inditex in the Portuguese district of Porto went on strike on Saturday (July 19). The workers demanded compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT) for the retail sector, which has allegedly been neglected by the group since 2019. Inditex's eight brands (Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Tempe, Zara, and Zara Home) just reported sales of 8.274 million euros, 1.5% more than the previous year. The Trade, Office and Service Workers' Union of Portugal (CESP/CGTP-IN) is accusing the Spanish group of not respecting fundamental labour rights - such as the payment of back pay owed since 2019 and the granting of compensatory rest for work done on Sundays. The organisation called for a strike between 10 am and 1 pm on Saturday, covering all eight of the conglomerate's brands. The Inditex group has 6,700 workers in Portugal who are demanding compensatory rest and back pay. The gathering of the company's employees took place in front of the NorteShopping shopping centre, in Senhora da Hora, Greater Porto, with the aim of raising awareness among customers and workers from other companies of this irregularity on the part of Inditex, which has allegedly been going on for six years. The multinational has also recently considered a long-term incentive plan in cash and shares for members of its management team, including executive directors, and guest workers of the group, with up to a maximum of 750 beneficiaries. Textile giant Inditex was created in 1985 by Amancio Ortega and his first wife Rosalía Mera and is led by the co-founder's daughter from his second marriage, Marta Ortega Pérez, who has been president of the group since 2022, and CEO Óscar García Maceiras. The business saw growth slow in the first quarter of the 2025 financial year and its net profit in the period from February 1 to April 30 this year was 1,305 million euros, 0.8% more than in the same period in 2024.

The micro fashion trends to follow if you want to look chic this summer: JOANNE HEGARTY
Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more At this point in the summer season I feel like my closet could do with an injection of life to keep things interesting. Luckily, some fun micro trends have emerged so you can add a few new tweaks to your existing outfits without spending a fortune. ★ Say hello, again, to lace A big hit in the 1990s, lace-trimmed silk skirts and cami tops are back – and such easy pieces to style. Pop a lacy cami under your blazer or team a T-shirt or linen shirt with lace-detail shorts. For a dressier option, wear with a summer cardigan with a lace-trimmed skirt and kitten heels. Check out Intimissimi (see below), Mango and Massimo Dutt i for great pieces. ★ Meet the multitasking scarf Wear a large one around your waist, layered over the top of trousers or a skirt like the Instagram fashion crowd. Or style a long one as a sarong, hang a short one on your bag, wrap one around your head as a boho sun hat… the possibilities are endless. ★ Unleash your inner pearly queen Pearls have always been a symbol of wealth and associated with an 'old money' style – think 50s housewives or Jackie O. Last year, a small strand would have worked but this summer pearls are big, garish and proudly fake. ★ Rock the humble flip-flop The It-sandal of the summer is probably one you've already got. Happy days! Yes, there's the upscale faux-croc pair by Toteme or the semi-transparent ones by Christopher Esber but a simple pair of Havaianas will look as sleek. Just ensure they're comfy before buying – I got very excited with some by The Row in the Selfridges sale, then found they were way too heavy on my feet. ★ Reach for red It's the colour of the season and dresses and tailored pieces in the shade are proving extremely popular for weddings, garden parties or cocktails by the pool. Farm Rio (see below), Posse and Massimo Dutti all have fabulous red dresses. ★ Team boho frills with suede I'm loving a suede shirt worn with a white ruffled skirt, which looks especially fabulous against a summer tan. Dôen, The Frankie Shop and Free People are the places to shop the look. @thestylistandthewardrobe @youmagazine ACE LACE MOVE Get in on summer's renewed love for lace with this pretty silk-satin camisole top (above). Slip it under a linen blazer or layer it beneath a summer V-neck knit. Lace-trimmed cami top £59 Shop VA-VA BLOOM Not just made from beautiful broderie anglaise and boasting 3D flowers on the straps, this linen-blend midi is in right-on-trend red. It's gone straight on my vacation wish list. Embellished broderie anglaise linen-blend midi dress £370 Shop SPOTTED French actress Marion Cotillard (above) is bringing a little je ne sais quoi to the fourth series of Apple TV's hit The Morning Show, which starts in September. Playing Celine Dumont, a savvy operator from a distinguished European family, her onscreen wardrobe is full of tailored pieces by brands including Max Mara and Bottega Veneta. Can't wait.

Move over, midi dresses - 5 ways I'm styling a chic skirt and white top this summer
Daily Mail journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more I was never really a fan of skirts. Then, last summer, I bought a white broderie midi skirt from Ghost and it quickly became one of the most complemented pieces in my wardrobe. I often wear it with a bandeau top from Cos (another purchase from a few seasons back that's now a staple) – an all-white look that leaves people wondering if I'm wearing a dress; or with a white baby tee from Uniqlo and a pair of Adidas Spezials on those low-effort days. This summer, I made a vow to wear more skirts. After all, they're just as easy to slip on as a midi dress, if you team them with a white tank top, tee or button-up on top half. So, I've browsed the high street for the best styles and shared my pick of the five skirts that have caught my attention this season below. All I need to do now is make a decision… Massimo Dutti Midi Skirt £99.95 Shop The check print of this flowy Massimo Dutti skirt lends itself to this simple white tee from Mango and these black leather flip flips from Stradivarius (a minimalist shoe the fashion set can't get enough of this season – see below). M&S Linen Rich Maxi A-Line Skirt £35 Shop The best thing about these Tkees sandals is that they come in a range of colours, so it wasn't too difficult to find a pair that matches this red M&S skirt. Leave the oversized tee from COS untucked for that slouchier, cool-girl look. H&M Flared Linen Blend Skirt £44.99 Shop The pintucks on this linen H&M skirt makes it look far more expensive than its high street price tag. Tuck a white linen shirt, like this one from Uniqlo, into the waistband and team with these brown sandals from Zara during the next heatwave. Mango Flared Cotton Skirt £45.99 Shop The design of this black cotton skirt from Mango is pretty simple, so I'd add some interest and texture with this semi-sheer top from Massimo Dutti and these strappy sandals from Russell & Bromley, which are heavily discounted right now. Rixo Midi Skirt £215 Shop Let the floral print of this bias cut Rixo skirt do the talking and wear it with a white tank top – this Mint Velvet number is a winner thanks to its square neckline – and these chocolate brown suede sandals from H&M.
