Common facility centre to come up in Ariyalur

A Common Facility Centre, meant for self help groups and entrepreneurs engaged in manufacturing food products, would soon come up in Ariyalur district under the auspices of the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM). The centre, to be established with a credit support of ₹10 lakh extended under the TNSRLM, would have machines and facilities for packaging and branding of food products. It would cater to SHGs and food business operators in Ariyalur, Andiamadam, Jayamkondam, Sendurai, T. Pazhur and Thirumanur blocks in the district. The objective of the initiative is to help food business operators to get access to packaging and branding facilities at reasonable cost, ensuring high quality of the products and creating low-cost infrastructure for packaging and labelling. Products using the facility would be marketed under the common brand name, 'Mathi.' Sources in the TNSRLM said similar facility centres are to be funded in all districts in the State. Besides, extending credit, the centre would be provided space to function on rental basis. In Ariyalur, the facility would be located at the Village Shopping Complexes at Jayamkondam or Reddipalayam. The TNSRLM has invited applications from SHGs or community based organisations with experience in manufacture, value addition or processing farm on non-farm sector products. Applications can be submitted to the Project Director, TNSRLM, District Collectorate, Ariyalur, before June 30, Collector said in a press release. For more details, dial 9360064675.
