FCC Chair Brendan Carr deletes net neutrality rules.
FCC Chair Brendan Carr deletes net neutrality rules. As part of an initiative to purge its own regulations, the FCC says it's removed rules (that hadn't taken effect) to reclassify broadband providers as common carriers. They were already struck down by a federal appeals court, but advocates can still appeal to the Supreme Court. Free Press General Counsel Matt Wood says the deletion, which came without advanced notice, is 'a premature housekeeping step,' that helps 'score points with broadband monopolies and their lobbyists.'

Why WA man is running from Geraldton to Perth
A Geraldton native is set to run from his hometown to Perth, all in the name of raising money and spreading awareness for mental health. Matt Wood, who last year ran 500km throughout November for charity, will take off from Geraldton by foot, running 420km over five days to finish at Perth's City Beach. Mr Wood, who lives in Perth but grew up in Geraldton, said he wanted to test himself in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same. 'I wanted to use my challenge of running from Geraldton the Perth, to raise awareness of those suffering through mental health, having any sort of mental health issues,' he said. 'I'm putting myself in quite a difficult, challenging situation, and those that are suffering in other ways can definitely look at it as a kind of inspiration, in a sense, for them to help themselves with their own challenges they're going through.' Matt Wood ran 500km throughout November to raise awareness for men's health. Credit: Supplied Mr Wood has broken his run down into five stages, running an average of 84km a day and stopping in a number Mid West towns on his way back to Perth. However, he will not be doing it alone, with a support crew helping him along the way with massages, needles, and food to ensure he can recover to get through the journey. While the challenge of running the distance in a short amount of time was what appealed to Mr Wood, the ability to raise money for a good cause at the same time was valuable. He hoped to raise $10,000 for the Shaka Project, a charity dedicated to helping people, in particular men, speak up about mental health. However, above all the fundraising was his primary message of getting people to start tough conversations which can help save lives. 'The whole point of this is just to share that message, just to reach out to your friends, reach out to your family, whatever it might be,' he said. 'A simple message is saying, 'how are you going? Are you OK?'. 'It doesn't have to be much, but you have no idea how big of a difference those those little things can be.' Mr Wood will start his run on Monday, May 19, taking off from the foreshore near Dome Cafe. Those looking to donate to his fundraiser can visit his Instagram @_maybe__matt_ and find the donation link.
