Matthew Dellavedova sells bayside home after Melbourne exit

Basketball champion and Olympian Matthew Dellavedova and his wife Anna have bounced their bayside home. Meanwhile a South Gippsland pub co-owned by ex-Brisbane centre half-back Justin Leppitsch and wife Christie is also pulling interest on the market, as is a Ringwood venue where former Tiger Kayne Pettifer is a tenant. Dellavedova, an ex-Melbourne United and Cleveland Cavaliers player, signed a three-year deal with the Sydney Kings earlier this year. Following this, he and Anna listed a five-bedroom Sandringham home with $4.5m-$4.7m price hopes in June. The circa-1890s house that the Dellavedovas have just farewelled features a pool, spa and outdoor barbecue kitchen, four living areas, a cellar and separate studio. Belle Property Sandringham principal director Fran Harkin said there was strong interest in the abode with about 45 buyers, mostly families, inquiring about the property before it sold this week. Ms Harkin declined to comment on the price, but industry insiders indicated that it changed hands for a sum within the asking range. She said the residence's period style and proximity to the beach won buyers over. 'It's got that charm that just tugs on people's heart strings,' she said. A four-time Olympian, Dellavedova was part of the Australian mens' basketball team, the Boomers, that won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo games. In 2016, Dellavedova won an NBA championship as a Cleveland Cavaliers member. He later signed a four-year $US38 million (A$50.5m) with the Milwaukee Bucks. Meanwhile, The Rusty Gurnard pub in Port Welshpool, South Gippsland, that's co-owned by three-time AFL premiership player turned Collingwood assistant coach, Leppitsch, wife Christie and their business partners has been served up to the market. They have extensively renovated the Lewis St hotel that had previously stood empty for a number of years. CRE Brokers' Phil Mammolito said that the pub had attracted good interest during an expressions of interest process that closed on July 3, and that he was expecting to spend a few weeks working through offers for The Rusty Gurnard. And another AFL pub sale is brewing, with a three-storey Ringwood venue where ex-Richmond player Kayne Pettifer is a tenant is for sale with $5m-plus price hopes. The Maroondah Highway complex incorporating The Bungalow Beer Garden and pub is owned by Pettifer's mate and business partner, Joe Cossari. The building's second floor function space can host 150 to 180 guests. Legendary TV newsreader Peter Hitchener's 50th birthday bash was held at the site. O'Brien agent and auctioneer John Rombotis and Aston Commercial's Jeremy Gruzewski and Joshua Colosimo marketing the property, which is available as a partially-tenanted or vacant building.

NBA championship winner, Boomers star Matthew Dellavedova lists Melbourne home

Loading content... After inking a deal with a new team, basketball star Matthew Dellavedova and wife Anna have listed their Melbourne home, little more than a year after buying it. They're hoping to sell the Sandringham property for a price in the range of $4.5 million to $4.7 million. The home's on the market because the now former Melbourne United guard signed a three-year deal with the Sydney Kings earlier this year. Cotality records show the home was built in 1890, and was previously sold in April 2024 for $4.825 million. The marketing describes the property as "a rare architectural treasure standing as one of Sandringham's most revered heritage residences". "Showcasing historical distinction and contemporary prestige, intricate period craftsmanship defines this landmark estate of remarkable scale," the marketing states. Sitting on 897 square metres, the house features an outdoor space with a terrace, pool, spa and barbecue kitchen. An open-plan kitchen also opens to the landscaped garden. The home also contains six double bedrooms, including a deluxe ground floor bedroom suite; as well as high ceilings, fireplaces, a cellar and a workshop. Earlier this year, Dellavedova made headlines when he declined the NBL Grand FinalMVP honour after Melbourne United lost the championship series 3-2 to the Illawarra Hawks. Dellavedova declined to accept the award, saying that it belonged to Hawks player Will 'Davo' Hickey instead. Dellavedova, one of the chief villains among Hawks fans during the championship series, was applauded for the display of sportsmanship. In 2016, Dellavedova won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside legendary scorer LeBron James. Afterwards, he signed a four-year deal to play with the Milwaukee Bucks, although he returned to Cleveland from 2018 to 2021. He also later played for the Sacramento Kings before returning to Australia. Dellavedova was also part of the national Boomers team that won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Expressions of interest for the home close on June 30.

Basketball star Matthew Dellavedova and wife Anna are hoping their Sandringham house scores a $4.5m-$4.7m sale. The ex-Melbourne United player signed a three-year deal with the Sydney Kings this year. In 2016, Dellavedova won an NBA championship as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside the league's all-time highest scorer LeBron James. Afterwards, the Aussie champion signed a four-year $US38 million (A$50.5m) to play with the Milwaukee Bucks although he returned to Cleveland from 2018 to 2021. Dellavedova was part of the Australian mens' team, the Boomers, that won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He also represented Australia at the 2012, 2016 and 2024 Olympics. In March 2025, Dellavedova made headlines when handed his NBL finals' MVP title to the Illawarra Hawks' Will 'Davo' Hickey following a Melbourne United loss to the NSW side. Dellavedova declined to accept the award, saying that it truly belonged to Hickey after 'a hell of a series'. The video went viral, amassing more millions views on social media, and Dellavedova was widely acclaimed for his show of sportsmanship. The Dellavedovas' bayside home features a terrace, pool, spa and outdoor barbecue kitchen on its 897sq m block. Inside the circa-1890s, five-bedroom house there's four living areas, formal lounge and dining rooms, a cellar and an office. An open-plan kitchen opens to the landscaped garden where there's a separate studio with its own bathroom next to the pool. The house's Victorian-era charms such as high ceilings and fireplaces have been retained but mod cons include airconditions and hydronic heating. It's also close to the beach, shops, schools and public transport. Belle Property Sandringham principal director Fran Harkin declined to comment. In 2022, Dellavedova listed a lakefront, Tudor-style six-bedroom house in Wisconsin with a $US$2.1 million (A$3.1m) price tag. Expressions of interest in the Sandringham house close at 5pm on June 30.

Dellavedova set to join Brian Goorjian at NBL Kings

NBA championship winner Matthew Dellavedova is set to rejoin forces with former Boomers coach Brian Goorjian after reportedly signing with the Sydney Kings on a multi-year deal. Dellavedova entered the NBL's free agency period on Friday as one of the most sought-after players, with both Perth and Brisbane interested in his services, as well as his current club Melbourne United. But according to ESPN, the 34-year-old has settled on joining the Kings, who are coached by Goorjian. Just last month, Goorjian appointed Dellavedova's former Boomers teammate Andrew Bogut as an assistant coach. Both the Kings and United declined to comment on Dellavedova's future when contacted on Sunday. Dellavedova is a four-time Olympian, helping Australia to break through for a bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Games. He also won an NBA Championship alongside LeBron James at the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. Dellavedova spent the past two seasons at Melbourne United, who during that period suffered heartbreaking grand-final series defeats to the Tasmania JackJumpers then the Illawarra Hawks. The star guard produced a classy act last month when he handed his grand final MVP award to Will Hickey in the belief his Hawks opponent was the more deserving winner. INCREDIBLE MOMENT! 🥹Matthew Dellavedova wins the NBL Finals MVP, but hands it to Will 'Davo' Hickey in a remarkable gesture! 🥇#NBL — ESPN Australia & NZ (@ESPNAusNZ) March 23, 2025 Fellow Melbourne United star Jack White has also opted for free agency. Other big names on the free agency list include Keanu Pinder, Josh Bannan and Sam Froling. Key imports also on the table include championship winner Trey Kell III, Kendric Davis, Montrezl Harrell, Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Matt Hurt, Milton Doyle and Jaylen Adams.
