Mazda achieves record US sales in March 2025
Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) reported an 16.1% increase in vehicle sales for March 2025, reaching a total of 43,097 units. This performance marks the company's "best-ever single month sales", surpassing the previous year's figures. Many importer OEMs have reported strong sales in March ahead of new US import tariffs that take effect in April and will raise prices. With 26 selling days in March, compared to 27 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 20.6% on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis. Certified pre-owned (CPO) sales also saw a boost, with 7,116 vehicles sold in March, a 5% increase from March 2024. The month also saw record sales for several Mazda models: the CX-50 sold 9,687 units, the CX-70 sold 2,452 units, and the CX-90 sold 5,039 units. Mazda Canada (MCI) reported 42.9% increase in March sales, totalling 7,237 vehicles. Its year-to-date figures also reflected a 21.5% growth. Similarly, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported a 25% increase in March sales, with 9,044 vehicles sold and a 30% increase in year-to-date sales, reaching 26,175 units. On a global scale, Mazda Motor reported a sales volume of 101,293 units for January 2025, marking a 1.5% year-on-year increase. These global sales is attributed to stronger performances in the US, Japan, and other regions. In February, Mazda Motor committed an investment of $150m in Thailand aimed at producing electric compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs) with an annual production target of 100,000 units. Mazda president and CEO Masahiro Moro said: 'Mazda's investment in an electrified compact SUV marks a significant step forward, and the start of a gradual transition to xEV production. 'The vehicles to be produced will be high performance compact SUVs that meet international standards, both in terms of environmental friendliness and hybrid technology.'
