Lewis Capaldi supported by celebrity friends after emotional Glastonbury return

Lewis Capaldi's emotional surprise return to Glastonbury saw the Scottish singer receive an influx of support from the celebrity world two years on from his last performance An emotional Lewis Capaldi was supported by a wave of celebrity friends as he made a surprise return to Glastonbury. The Scottish singer returned to Worthy Farm two years after he last performed at the festival. The Someone You Loved singer struggled to finish his set last timeout, with his voice faltering in a touching message to the crowd. At the time, he told them: "Glastonbury, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself." The crowd soon took over the vocals of Someone You Loved. "I feel like I'll be taking another wee break over the next couple of weeks. So you probably won't see much of me for the rest of the year, maybe even. But when I do come back and when I do see you, I hope you're still up for watching us." ‌ And today, after telling the crowd "second time's a charm," Lewis was able to complete the song two years on. Following his emotional set, Lewis took to Instagram to share a clip of the two performances merged together. ‌ In the touching clip, it showed the struggle of 2023 before a teary-eyed Lewis looked on after taking to the stage again today. He captioned his upload: "Glastonbury it's so incredible to be back, thank you so much for having me x" And his video was immediately met with a wave of support. Among those sharing a message with the star was former footballer Alan Shearer, who simply said: "Love it," alongside clapping hands emojis. McFly's Danny Jones also said: "Epic maaaaaate so good to see you back," while Sam Fender labelled it the "return of the king". ‌ Paddy McGuinness was also on hand to compliment his efforts, calling him the governor, while ex-Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall responded with a love heart emoji. Lewis was also supported backstage after his gig. Matty Healy was seen recording a message for some fans backstage to send his support to the Scottish star. A source attending Glastonbury told the Mirror: 'I heard him say 'really pleased he is here and I wish him well" ‌ Lewis' return comes hours after he released a new song called Survive. As he shared a post on Instagram announcing the new tune, he captioned it: "It's been a while." The new song is full of emotion with lyrics including lines such as "I swear to God I'll survive" and "I'm going to get up and live until the day that I die." It marks his first new release since stepping out of the spotlight because of his mental health. And as he performed it to the Glastonbury crowd he cried as he began to sing. He revealed that his one goal was to get back on stage at Glastonbury as he paid tribute to the fans. At the end of the song, he struggled to get through the track, with the emotion clearly a lot for him as he sang those final words with passion.

'We saw McFly in concert and something wild happened on way home'

A fan of McFly was left stunned by what she witnessed after their performance, prompting her to share footage of Tom, Danny and Dougie from her car After watching McFly perform in concert earlier this week (June 22), some fans of the pop band were left in amazement by what happened after the show. The four-piece, which consists of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd, performed in Southampton, where they took to the stage at the city's Guildhall Square. There, the sold out crowd enjoyed 20 years of hits – including All About You and Obviously as part of Southampton Summer Sessions celebrations. It precedes McFly embarking on a large tour of the UK and Ireland later this year. After leaving the event, fan Charlotte Samina admitted she was stunned to see three of the group's members during her journey home. ‌ Samina took to TikTok, where she penned in a caption alongside her video: "Driving home from a McFly gig only to be overtaken by McFly on their motorbikes." ‌ The clip showed Tom, Danny and Dougie overtaking Samina on the Hampshire dual carriageway, prompting one TikTok user to declare: "Please say you opened the windows and said hello, thanks for a sick gig." Samina confessed: "I debated it but when I put the window down their motorbikes were LOUD so they'd never have heard us!" A second person praised: "Amazing! I drove this road home back and know it well! Can't believe you saw them!" A third gushed: "This is iconic." Whilst a fourth quipped: "The thought of Tom on a motorbike just doesn't sit quite right." Earlier that day, meanwhile, Tom hailed the "best weekend ever" as he shared several snaps to Facebook of the band enjoying their lunch beside their bikes. "Best weekend ever. Motorbikes & McFly," he penned in a caption. ‌ One fellow biker replied: "As an avid fan of extreme metal for countless years, I never thought I would comment on a McFly related page but here I am! Great bikes, Bobber wins (just). Luckily, I have both!" Another fan wrote: "Saw you at Westonbirt on Saturday. Your energy was off the scale and you were just what I was hoping for and more. ‌ "Amazing, loved it, thank you all. We were up on the disabled viewing platform with my daughter. She didn't stop beaming the whole time." A third individual shared: "My hubby is off to Bruges and Luxembourg on their motorbikes with his mates this weekend. Lads and bikes… gotta be done." A fourth suggested to the lads: "Next stop needs to be ABR Festival. The biggest motorbike festival in the UK." And a fifth Facebook user praised 39-year old Tom's photos: "Looks amazing! Everyone having so much fun! You guys know how to put on a brilliant show and have a fantastic time doing it! Awesome!"

The annual gig returned to Wembley Stadium earlier this month and was broadcast to the nation on Sunday (June 22) afternoon. ‌ Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Jade, Benson Boone and Jessie J were just a few names on the star-studded line-up alongside the likes of JLS, McFly, Busted and UK's Eurovision entry Remember Monday. ‌ However, viewers watching at home were left fuming at the "missing" acts from the 90-minute long highlights show. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: "Why didn't they show Busted vs McFly but they showed Jessie J and Mariah Carey? Piss poor #CapitalSTB." Another added: "What's the point in summertime ball being on tv when they've missed off half the acts? McFly, Busted, Lola Young, Zara Larson, James Hype, Remember Monday all missing #summertimenall #CapitalSTB." A third person said: #CapitalSTB #itv1 why you not showing #Mcfly very disappointing they should of been shown its out of order." A fourth social media user said: "#capitalsummertimeball i was waiting to watch Mcfly on # itv but there not showing them why im annoyed with that." ‌ ITV has been showing highlights from the concert at Wembley Stadium each summer for the last few years. It usually comes a week or so after the event itself takes place. The programme was hosted once again by Capital Breakfast hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby who spoke to some of the performers before they took to the stage to perform to the crowd. ‌ Speaking about his move from Radio 1 to Capital last year, Jordan said: ""Oh, honestly, they have been the best people to work for. "It was definitely the right decision. It's been just over 12 months and it has been the best year of my life. ‌ ""It's been so good, we've interviewed absolute megastars. "And what's lovely now is friends and family and people that have come over to Capital have said, 'Oh, you really suit the station. It's like you've been there for years.' "And that is the biggest compliment."

ITV The Masked Singer winner's 'must-see' film is now available to stream

Frozen fans can now relive the magic of the West End musical, starring Samantha Barks The Masked Singer winner Samantha Barks' "must-see" film is now available to stream. Samantha famously clinched the title in the sixth series of the popular ITV singing contest in February, with Gregory Porter and Marti Pellow coming in second and third place, respectively. ‌ Concealed behind the memorable Pufferfish mask, Samantha delivered a variety of pop and musical theatre classics. ‌ Viewers will recall her captivating performance of Chappell Roan's Good Luck, Babe, Teddy Swims' Lose Control, and Don't Rain on My Parade from Funny Girl. In the grand finale, Samantha performed a breathtaking duet with McFly's Danny Jones, belting out Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, reports Surrey Live. Samantha first shot to fame in 2008 as one of the finalists in I'd Do Anything - the BBC talent hunt for a fresh face to play Nancy in the West End revival of Oliver! Since then, she has graced the stage in several hit musicals, including Cabaret, Chicago, and Pretty Woman. After portraying Éponine in Les Misérables on the West End, producer Cameron Mackintosh selected Samantha to reprise the role in the 25th Anniversary Concert of the show, and in the 2012 musical film. ‌ Her rendition of On My Own remains one of the most celebrated performances to date, even making it onto the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release. Most recently, she played Elsa in the West End production of Frozen, which ran from August 2021 to September 2024. ‌ Frozen enthusiasts can now experience the enchantment all over again as the stage production, captured at the stunning Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, is available to stream. The acclaimed Broadway and West End musical, which draws inspiration from Disney's hit film, was recorded early last year and made its debut on Disney+ today (Friday, June 20). Samantha takes on the role of the enchanting Queen Elsa, with Laura Dawkes portraying her lively younger sister Anna. ‌ Completing the principal line-up are Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff, Craig Gallivan as the lovable Olaf, Oliver Ormson playing Hans, and Richard Frame as the Duke of Weselton. Audiences can expect a dazzling display of music and magic on stage, complete with awe-inspiring surprises and top-notch special effects. In addition to the beloved original songs, the show introduces 12 new musical numbers. ‌ In a conversation with the WhatsOnStage podcast in March, Samantha expressed her delight at the prospect of her 20-month-old son, Rafael, being able to see her performance on Disney+. "It's really exciting. It was a really beautiful moment when we found out we were going to do that because you're doing a show like Frozen, which means so much to me professionally and personally," she said. ‌ "Having Raffi, I was thinking, 'Oh, he'll never see it'. And then you find out you're going to be filmed for Disney Plus, and it's like, 'Wow, it'll live on forever'. My nieces can watch it everyday and Raffi can watch it if he wants to." The West End production has been showered with accolades, as one theatre-goer exclaimed: "Magnificent is an understatement. I was overwhelmed with emotion at the whole thing, loved every minute." Equally impressed, another remarked: "I was blown away by the West End production. The singing is stirring, the orchestration is phenomenal, the visual effects are stunning! I was moved to tears," while someone else proclaimed: "It's the best stage musical. A truly must see production of this generation." Frozen the Musical is available to stream on Disney+
