Wanda Ammons
Wanda Lee Stracner Ammons, 87, of Lake Charles passed away on June 19,2025. Wanda was born in Scotland, Ark. to Lonzo Stracner and Olive Lott Stracner, but moved at an early age to Pecos, Texas where she was raised through her childhood. Upon receiving her high school diploma, Wanda moved to Lake Charles to attend college at McNeese State University where she earned two associates degrees. Professionally, Wanda was an office manager at BFI Chemical service where she worked for 10 years. During her time in Lake Charles, Wanda faithfully attended Trinity Baptist Church and among all her accomplishments professionally, Wanda's greatest treasure was being a wife and mother. Wanda and her husband, Charles Tilden Ammons, were faithfully married for 33 years until his death in 2001. In her free time, she absolutely loved playing the game Bridge and was a Grandmaster player. She was also a master gardener, who always kept a beautiful and healthy garden. Wanda is survived by her children, Ricky Titus and Ronda Jane Spencer (David); her stepchildren, Charles, Conred, Chelton Ammons and their families; her brother, Carl Stracner (Angie); four grandchildren, Chase, Charlee, and Josee Spencer, and Ricky Titus Jr.; and one great grandchild Caroline Calaway Spencer. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Charles Ammons; her parents; her brother, Dr. Bobby Stracner and his wife, Diane Stracner. Upon Wanda's request cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home with no public services. A private memorial service for family and friends and a burial at Highland Memory Gardens will take place at a later date.

Regina 'Gina' Marie Williams Baccigalopi
Regina 'Gina' Marie Williams Baccigalopi, 58, of Iowa, La., passed away on June 24, 2025. Born on Jan. 19, 1967, in Sulphur, La., Gina was a proud graduate of Sulphur High School, Class of 1985, and earned her degree in Education from McNeese State University in 2000. Gina touched countless lives during her years as a high school educator in New Caney, Texas until returning to Louisiana in 2008. She had a deep love for gardening, camping, and what she fondly called 'garage sailing' always on the lookout for hidden treasures and good stories along the way. Gina was also a lifelong lover of the arts. She danced from the age of eight and never lost her passion for movement and music. A devoted theatergoer, she was a season ticket holder to Theatre Under the Stars in Houston for over 20 seasons. Her favorite production was CATS, and one of her fondest memories was being invited on stage to dance with Rum Tum Tugger. Gina's love of music was just as strong. She found joy and connection in the sounds of her favorite artists, especially The Black Crowes and her 'soul sister,' Janis Joplin. Gina is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Baccigalopi; her father, Eugene (Ginger) Williams, and her brothers, Michael (Tanya) Williams and Chad (Kimberly) Williams; step-daughter Chelse (Dustin) Willis, and grandchildren Maddox, Miles, Monroe and Mari. She was a cherished aunt to Alexandra, Katelyn, Eden, Evan, Elliot, Drew, Dylan, Quinn, and Cameron Williams, and a beloved great-aunt to Eleanor, Olivia, and Kinsley Williams. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Ann Denton Williams. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton, La., on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. and will resume Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will be in Grandlake Sweetlake Cemetery at a later date Pallbearers assisting in her service are Evan Williams, Elliot Williams, Drew Williams, Clint Brightwell, Cody Caldwell and James DeRouen. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gina's name to the charity of your choice. Gina will be remembered for her love of God, generous heart, joyful presence, and the love she shared so freely with her family, friends, students, and all who were lucky enough to know her, and we will all miss her very much. Carolynn Sharp
The family of Carolynn Jo Watson Sharp announces her passing on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 82. Known to many as 'Jo' or 'Aunt Jo,' Carolynn lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and devotion to her family. Carolynn was born on Jan. 31, 1943, in Merryville, La., to Stella Swilley Watson and Alvin Watson. She graduated from Merryville High School and McNeese State University, preparing for her lifelong calling as a teacher. Carolynn dedicated her entire professional career to teaching, becoming a beloved kindergarten teacher whose gentle guidance touched countless young lives. Even outside the classroom, she was drawn to children, always quick to offer a smile, a wink, or a kind word that brightened their day. In 1965, Carolynn married Malcolm Sharp. Together they shared 45 years of marriage, raising two sons, Mac and Marty, and building a home rooted in love and Christian faith. Carolynn was an active member of both Green Oak Baptist Church and Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Merryville, and she served as a counselor for Campers on Mission. She had a gift for encouraging others, always sharing just the right Bible verse to provide comfort and strength during difficult times. Her quiet prayers and unwavering love became a source of strength for many family members and friends throughout the years. To her many nieces and nephews, she was Aunt Jo, always smiling, soft-spoken, and full of gentle wisdom. She had a special way of teaching and encouraging, blending kindness with humor, and leaving a lasting impression on those she loved. Carolynn was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Sharp; her parents, Stella and Alvin Watson, and her siblings, Robert Lynch, Barbara Gibson, and Kay Broussard. She is survived by her sons, Mac Sharp and Marty Sharp of Merryville; her sister, Julia Porter of DeRidder, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Services will be held at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bivens Cemetery. Mark Bordelon
Mark Dwayne Bordelon, 59, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in a local hospital. Mark was born Nov. 11, 1965 in Houston, Texas and has lived most of his life in the Lake area. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and attended LA Tech University and McNeese State University. He worked his youngest years with friends at Chula Vista and later worked in sales for Billy Navarre Chevrolet. He worked the past 30 years for Johnson Funeral Home where he served countless families in their most difficult times. Mark's nature was a gift to all who knew him, he humbly helped and cared for friends and family with any request, especially in their time of need. He also loved to have a good time. He was a member of Krewe des Lunatiques for many years, was Duke with his Duchess Marion and King with his Queen Marion in 2002, he also served a second time as Duke and again in 2013 was King of the Krewe. He was a member of Krewe des Pirates and was elected as Captain of the Ball for the upcoming Mardi Gras season and as a member of the Buccaneers and their Pirate Festival, Mark enjoyed being a part of the Cannon Crew. He enjoyed driving his Jeep and loved to take it out 'naked' with the top off. Mark's talent was playing pool. He was a member of the LCAPL Tuesday and Thursday night League, was ranked #1 and top 5 of the Top Gun For Men, and competed annually at the State Championship of which this year he entered from the #1 position. His down time was often spent fishing with his son, Patrick, family and friends or vegetable gardening with his son, Austin and bride, Marion, and also dining with his family and friends or watching a game in his recliner while spoiling his dogs. Amongst his greatest times were those he spent sailing the Caribbean with his family, some trips including friends, a tradition they began many years ago that became a two and three a year event. Mark will be most remembered as genuinely humble and kind, a loving son, loyal friend and adoring husband and father. He will be greatly missed. He leaves to honor his memory his wife of 35 years, Marion Mills Bordelon; two sons, Patrick Wayne Bordelon and Austin Lee Bordelon, all of Moss Bluff; his mother, Irma Molina Bordelon of Moss Bluff; brother, Darren Murray Bordelon and wife, Kelly of Houston, Texas; nieces, Regan and Rachel Bordelon and many dear friends. He also leaves his extended family, Marion's Mills family. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. The Rev. Steve Shirley will co-officiate. Visitation Friday will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will resume Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
