State Rep. Joe Sheehan to host pair of Sheboygan town halls at Mead Public Library

SHEBOYGAN – State Rep. Joe Sheehan, D-Sheboygan, will host two town hall meetings at Mead Public Library this month. The first will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19 and the second from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 22. Both town halls will be in the Rocca Meeting Room at the library, 710 N. Eighth St., Sheboygan. A news release said constituents are invited to attend and share questions and comments about matters before the Wisconsin Assembly, including the direction of the state. If approved, voters would decide whether Wisconsin's Congressional delegation should support a U.S. Constitutional amendment to overturn the landmark 2010 Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, which opened the floodgates for unlimited corporate spending in elections. 'After the last few months, it has become clear that we need to take action on corporate money that is spent on elections here in Wisconsin,' Sheehan said in the news release. 'We just had the most expensive Supreme Court election in the nation's history, where both sides accepted large amounts of money from corporate donors. It is time we give the people of Wisconsin a chance to say whether or not the flow of corporate money into our elections is something they support.'
