After persevering through painful losses, Scituate boys' lacrosse sails out as Division 3 champion

And how you make your mark is leaving a banner in that gym,'' Robinson said. 'I've always gone into the gym and looked up at the rafters and wanted to put up a banner, and now we've put up two. Yet another championship moment for Izzy Kittredge as Medfield girls' lacrosse repeats in Division 3
'She shows up for the big games,' said Medfield coach Mary Laughna. 'She loves to compete. She loves winning. She can take over those games.' It's the second straight title, third in four years, and fourth overall for Medfield, which swiftly retooled after losing all-time great Kelly Blake and the rest of a strong Class of 2024. Enter Email Sign Up UMass-bound senior catalyst Reese Bromby paced the No. 2 Clippers (17-6) with five goals, and classmates Avery Tahnk, Grace Chandler, and Emerson Leahy all contributed in a rematch of last year's final. 'We graduated so much and had 13 brand new girls to the team,' said Newburyport coach Cat Batchelder. 'They just grew from the start to the finish. I don't think we ever thought we'd be here at the beginning of the season. It's a huge accomplishment.' Maeve Kelly, Michaela McDonald, and Blake stealthily snuck up behind Laughna and gave her a Gatorade shower (of water). Laughna has now steered Medfield to consecutive titles on the anniversary of her father passing. Rory, who helped her discover the sport, died June 13, 2022, at age 67. 'It's kind of ironic and crazy that we keep playing in the state championship on this day,' Laughna said. 'I like to think that he probably helps me out a little bit.' After six failed attempts, 13th-seeded Latin Academy boys' tennis breaks through to reach Division 3 semifinals

Most brackets have gone to chalk — more evidence of the effectiveness of the power rankings formula — with no seed lower than 10 remaining in softball, nobody worse than No. 11 Ursuline left in girls' lacrosse, and No. 11 Shawsheen representing the worst seed still going in boys' lacrosse. But in baseball there's been plenty of upheaval, as eight double-digit seeds made the quarterfinals (13 double-digit seeds made the quarterfinals in all other sports combined) and two No. 1 seeds (Taunton and St. Mary's) have already fallen. Coaching corner Looking to boost its boys' basketball program, St. John's Prep announced the hiring of Corey Lowe to replace David Clay , who stepped down earlier this year for personal reasons. Previously, he led the Bradford Christian Academy girls to a 20-3 record. He played internationally in Latvia, Israel, and Brazil before injuries ended his playing career. Lowe takes over an Eagles program that went 2-18 last season and hasn't made the playoffs since 2019. Getting in the swing, Cassius Costabile carries Medfield boys' volleyball past O'Bryant in Division 2
'Usually, I don't have the big confidence to swing all the way through, but I was like, it's playoffs,' Costabile said. 'I just have to swing right through. No matter what, as soon as I got that set, confidence went up, I made sure I swung.' Medfield (14-7) dropped the second set, and struggled to contain Otavio Perks (31 kills) without opposite Elliot Webster, but picked it up after the second set loss.
