The initiative was part of its Media Leadership Programme. The programme brought together 25 participants from various Dubai government entities. These participants are part of the inaugural cohort of the Media Leadership Programme. It was launched by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The UK visit aimed to deepen participants' global perspectives. It focused on trust, artificial intelligence, and strategic storytelling in media. According to the Dubai Media Council, the programme is designed to enhance media leadership skills aligned with international benchmarks. Throughout the five-day tour, participants attended interactive sessions and visited top media and policy institutions. They engaged with leading organisations, including: Financial Times and Sky News, where executives shared insights on digital media operations Google, where discussions covered the future of information The Thomson Foundation led a session on media transformation and global development. Meanwhile, the GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign delivered a keynote on nation branding. The group also visited Apolitical, a global public service learning platform. Here, discussions centered on digital trust and the evolving relationship between data, institutions, and credibility. Former senior UK government communication leaders shared expertise on strategic messaging at national and international levels. Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, revealed that the programme plays a vital role in raising Dubai's media profile. She stated that it helps build future-ready narratives to support the emirate's development. Badri also noted that the UK engagement fostered collaboration with global players who align with Dubai's media vision. Hesham Al Olama, Director of Strategy and Performance Management at the Dubai Media Council, reported that the tour offered participants unique insights into institutional adaptability and professional media standards. He added that the programme equips leaders to navigate global changes with clarity and confidence. Launched in January, the Media Leadership Programme is a flagship initiative. It aims to cultivate leadership talent across Dubai government media entities.
