Devendra Kumar, Anushka Jain, Mukesh Mandloi emerge champions at Ankit, Sakshi and Sunil Bhargava Memorial Open Chess tournament in Jaipur
Jaipur: Devendra Kumar, Anushka Jain and Mukesh Mandloi emerged champions in their respective categories at the Ankit, Sakshi and Sunil Bhargava Memorial Open Chess tournament which concluded here recently at Bright Future School, Nirman Nagar.
The two-day tourney was organised by Jaipur District Chess Association (JDCA) under the auspices of Rajasthan Chess Association (RCA). With more than 250 participants across Rajasthan, the tournament brought together seasoned and budding chess talents over 8 intense rounds.
The tournament offered a total prize pool exceeding Rs 1 lakh comprising cash prizes, trophies, certificates, and medals across open, age, gender, veterans, and rating categories.
Devendra Kumar emerged as the overall champion, securing 7 points and taking home a Rs 10,000 cash prize and a trophy. Close on his heels, Ujjwal Deep also notched up 7 points and claimed the runner-up title with Rs 7,500 and a trophy.
Raj Kapoor and Siddhant Chaturvedi both scored 6.5 points each and were placed third and fourth, respectively. Apart from Devendra, who won the crown, Siddhant was the only player who remained unbeaten in the competition.

The tournament featured a range of competitive categories including open, women, veterans (55+), and rating-based groups (1400–1600, 1600–1800), along with age-based categories (U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13, and U-15). Special prizes were also awarded to female participants over 45 years and young players U-13.
The event was officiated by IA Rajendra Teli as chief arbiter. Special medals were awarded to players U-13 and women above 45 years, making the event truly inclusive.
