Zhao Lusi rumoured to have ended contract with agency
10 Jul - Rumours are rife that Zhao Lusi has terminated the contract with her management, Galaxy Cool Entertainment (aka Yinhekuyu Media). Speculations of her departure sparked after netizens noticed that the actress has dropped the company name from her Xiaohongshu account. At the same time, some noted that she once liked a post on Xiaohongshu questioning the company's alleged favouritism towards their other star Meng Ziyi, when they spent a huge sum of money to publicise the actress' new drama, "The Princess's Gambit", but did not do the same for her series like "Hidden Love" and "Love Like the Galaxy". It is noted that Zhao was hospitalised in late December following a health situation, after which she revealed that she was battling with depression and other ailments caused by her "bad relationship with her boss". However, her agency dismissed the allegations, saying that there were "disagreements on work plans" between them and warned the public to not spread false allegations. On the other hand, when asked about the recent situation, Galaxy Cool responded briefly on the matter, saying, "We have not terminated the contract. Thank you." 4 Jul – Meng Ziyi recently sparked mixed reactions when she revealed that she had a hard time getting jobs in the early days of her career because she was "too beautiful". The actress, known for dramas like "The Legend of Condor Heroes" and "The Untamed", recently sat down for an interview, where she revealed that she was rejected for a project in the early years because her beauty does not suit the role. Admitting that it stunned her, Meng said, "if you say that my acting is not good enough or that I am not known enough, that I can admit. But you said that I am too pretty to act?" Meng said that the comment made her feel uneasy to this day, and that beauty should not be a sin. "You can say that I am not suited for the role or that you think I can't handle it at this stage or that you want a more famous actress. But when you tell me that I can't do it because I am too pretty, it creates a doubt in me, like, is there anything wrong with being beautiful?" she said. The interview had since sparked heated discussions among netizens, with one saying, "There are many beautiful actresses in the industry. Her appearance is not that outrageous, right?"
