Isko: Manila PIO Facebook page 'held hostage,' asks Meta for access

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso has directed city officials to formally write Meta (Facebook) Philippines and request the immediate return of the official Facebook page of the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO), which remains under the control of former city employees. The mayor issued the directive during the first meeting of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC), stressing the importance of the page in delivering timely and accurate information, especially during emergencies. He also instructed that Meta be informed to transfer administrative control of the page to the city's newly designated Public Information Officer, Director E-jhay Talagtag. In a separate post, Moreno said that for now, he will use his own page to announce news and advisories concerning the city. "Habang naka-hostage pa ang MPIO Facebook Page, dito muna tayo mag-aanunsyo ng mga balita sa ating lungsod," he said. (While the MPIO Facebook Page is still held hostage, we will be announcing news in our city here.) "We will file charges sa mga may gawa nito dahil pag-aari yan ng pamahalaan. May gobyerno na sa Maynila, hahabulin namin kayo," he added. (We will file charges against those who did this because it belongs to the government.
