Kuwait braces for scorching weekend as temperatures soar to 50°C
KUWAIT CITY, July 31: The Meteorological Department has forecast a sweltering weekend ahead for Kuwait, with daytime temperatures expected to reach up to 50 degrees Celsius and warm to hot conditions persisting at night. According to Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorology Department, the country is currently under the influence of an extension of the Indian monsoon depression. This system is accompanied by a very hot air mass and northwesterly to variable winds that are expected to be light to moderate in strength but may become active at times, particularly in open areas, stirring up dust and leading to the appearance of scattered clouds. On Thursday, the weather is forecast to be very hot with northwesterly winds ranging between 15 and 45 kilometers per hour, occasionally causing dust storms in exposed areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to peak between 48°C and 50°C. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, with wave heights reaching between 2 and 6 feet. During the night, the weather will remain hot to warm with light to moderate northwesterly winds blowing at speeds of 12 to 35 km/h. The temperature is expected to dip only slightly, with lows between 33°C and 35°C. The sea will remain light to moderate with waves between 2 and 4 feet. Friday's forecast predicts another very hot day, with northwesterly winds ranging from 12 to 38 km/h. Maximum temperatures will hover between 47°C and 49°C. Sea conditions will remain light to moderate with waves between 1 and 4 feet. The night will see continued hot to warm weather, with some scattered clouds expected. Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate, ranging from 12 to 32 km/h, while minimum temperatures will range between 32°C and 34°C. The sea will again be light to moderate, with waves between 2 and 4 feet. On Saturday, very hot weather will persist, with northwesterly to variable winds between 10 and 38 km/h. Scattered clouds may appear throughout the day, and high temperatures will again range from 48°C to 50°C. The sea will be light to moderate, with wave heights from 2 to 4 feet. Saturday night will bring hot to warm conditions and relatively high humidity in coastal areas. Winds will be variable to northwesterly, light to moderate, at speeds of 12 to 32 km/h. The night's minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C. Sea conditions will continue to be light to moderate, with waves between 1 and 4 feet. Residents are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, and stay hydrated throughout the weekend.

Hot, dusty weather to persist through Friday: Meteorologist
KUWAIT: The country will continue to experience very hot and dusty weather conditions through Friday, with reduced horizontal visibility expected in open areas, the Meteorological Department announced on Wednesday. Acting Director of the Meteorology Department Dhirar Al-Ali said in a statement to KUNA that the current weather pattern is being driven by an extension of the Indian seasonal low, accompanied by a very hot and dry air mass. This system is bringing moderate to active northwesterly winds, with speeds possibly exceeding 50 km/h. Al-Ali warned that the dust-laden winds could reduce horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas, particularly in open and desert regions. He added that sea waves may rise to over six feet during this period. The northwesterly winds are expected to continue until Thursday, ranging between 15 to 45 km/h, with occasional gusts causing further dust and high sea waves. Al-Ali noted that winds will gradually ease by Friday, leading to an improvement in weather conditions and a gradual settling of dust by evening. He indicated that daytime temperatures will remain extremely high, with maximum ranging between 48°C and 51°C, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain hot to warm, ranging between 34°C and 36°C. — KUNA

Scorching temperatures and dust to persist in Kuwait through Friday
KUWAIT CITY, July 30: The country will continue to experience very hot and dusty weather conditions through Friday, according to Dharar Al-Ali, Director of the Meteorology Department. Speaking to KUNA on Wednesday, Al-Ali said that current weather maps and numerical models show that Kuwait is under the influence of an extension of the Indian monsoon depression. This system is accompanied by a very hot and dry air mass, along with moderate to brisk northwesterly winds that may exceed speeds of 50 kilometers per hour. 'These dusty winds are expected to significantly reduce horizontal visibility, particularly in open areas, with visibility dropping to less than 1,000 meters in some regions,' Al-Ali noted. He added that these conditions could also cause sea waves to rise above six feet at times. The northwesterly winds are forecast to persist until Thursday, with speeds ranging between 15 and 45 kilometers per hour. These winds may continue to stir up dust and affect visibility, especially in open areas, while also causing occasional increases in sea wave heights. Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Friday, Al-Ali said, as wind speeds begin to decrease. 'The weather from today through Friday will remain very hot during the day and hot to warm during the night,' he explained, adding that dust levels should begin to decline during the evening hours of Friday.

Muscat: Meteorology Department on Tuesday has issued a forecast warning of a notable rise in temperatures on Wednesday, July 30, particularly across Oman's coastal governorates bordering the Sea of Oman. According to a post by Oman Meteorology on X, maximum temperatures are expected to climb further tomorrow, with several regions likely to experience peak summer heat. This advisory follows a sequence of extreme temperature readings across the Sultanate over the past week. On Tuesday, July 29, the highest temperature was recorded in Dam wa at Taiyyin, reaching 47.2 degrees Celsius, closely matched by Hamra Ad Duru at the same value. Other regions such as Sunaynah, Al Rustaq, and Al Buraimi also reported maximum temperatures above 45 degrees. The preceding days were marked by even more intense heat. On Saturday, July 26, Sunaynah led with a searing 48.2°C, while Muqshin, Hamra Ad Duru, and Hayma all recorded temperatures nearing 48°C. A day earlier, on Friday, July 25, Muqshin reported the highest reading of the week at 48.6°C, reinforcing its position as one of the country's hottest regions this summer. These conditions reflect a broader pattern of persistent heat across both inland and coastal areas. Regions such as Fahud, Ibri, and Al Mazyunah have consistently registered daily highs above 45°C, with little nighttime relief, creating challenging conditions for residents, particularly those working outdoors. With temperatures expected to climb again tomorrow, the authorities are urging the public to take precautionary measures. Citizens and residents are advised to limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, stay well hydrated, and remain alert for symptoms of heat-related illnesses. The Meteorology Department emphasizes that all temperature data is sourced from its network of official observation stations across the Sultanate.
