Outstanding in his field... tractor boy Julian all revved up for Farmer's Bash
But now he's experienced a trailer of a different kind — pulling one while driving a tractor. The local TV legend was given a crash course in driving the farm machinery for a stunt to promote the Farmer's Bash Weekender at Boucher Playing Fields. Julian will appear on the first day of the festival to introduce some of the acts, as well as starring with his own DJ set. He said: 'When I saw I was having a trailer in the back of it, I nearly died because I thought: 'How am I going to manoeuvre that?' 'But, surprise, surprise, with the guy showing me what to do, I didn't do too bad.' That man was Co Down farmer Michael McGreevy, who enjoyed banter with the presenter for a YouTube video filmed by FarmFLiX. Julian added: 'I mean, when I was standing beside it looking up at it, I thought: 'Oh my God!' But once I got into it and I was shown the right levers and knobs, I was a bit more confident... it was in a field and I wasn't going to knock too many things over. Nobody died!' He will be keeping it country for his star turn at the Farmer's Bash next month. But not with his music — he's going to dress the part instead. He explained: 'I'm doing an hour of DJ bangers, which the public should like, but the only country twist will be the gear I'm wearing for it. I'll be looking for a sort of farmer-ish checked shirt and jeans and everything — and I'll have a cowboy hat as well.' He is as busy as ever, having left UTV four years ago, but remains modest about his status as a 'national treasure'. He said: 'No, I don't (think I am), but people tell me that I am, and, I mean, that's very nice, you know? It's nice to be told that, it's good people are always pleased to see me and everything. 'When you think about it, it was nearly 35 years doing that job four nights a week, and also doing my job with Air Canada at Heathrow. 'It was running about between the two. It was like breakneck speed the whole time. 'Thank goodness I am still busy, I'm very lucky that people still want me to be at things and host things, and now the DJing is such good fun to do because people love a good bop with good, hard music, and they enjoy that. 'Carolyn Stewart helped me a bit, because I wasn't very aware of how to do the mixing and everything. But she taught me a bit. But what I have learned is actually, when there's a good crowd there, and the music is banging, if you don't get the mix quite right, they don't notice.' He's also working on his autobiography. He said: 'It's been talked about, and I've got a couple of chapters written, but I've been so busy recently that I haven't had any more time. 'I would need to go away somewhere and write over a weekend or something to get some more chapters in. 'There's a lot to tell. And, I mean, I've seen a lot of life in my careers and I've had a lot of great experiences which are good to talk about. So, I might get round to it yet, and when you live in Northern Ireland, it is warts and all, you know. 'I mean, there's so much that happens that some people would be quite shocked at, but it's just part of the way life has been. 'In both careers, I was in the thick of it, really, in the airline industry and also on UTV, because I got to meet quite a lot of stars, which was good.' That includes one of the acts appearing at the Farmer's Bash, Boyzlife, pop duo Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden of Boyzone and Westlife fame, who Julian mentions during his innuendo-filled tractor ride video. Other big names at the two-day extravaganza include The Kaiser Chiefs, The 2 Johnnies, The Coronas and B*Witched. He added: 'I'm looking forward to seeing Boyzlife, because when I was at UTV they were in quite a lot. 'I used to have 'Julian' mugs in those days and one of the guys, every time I saw him, he asked me for another one. So I think he's got a good collection. 'I'm looking forward to meeting them and a brave few of the acts that are going to be there. I don't know quite yet who I'm going to be introducing, but we'll suck it and see, as they say in the best places.'

Cardinals Announce Erick Fedde News Before Braves Series
Cardinals Announce Erick Fedde News Before Braves Series originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The last time we saw Erick Fedde pitch was Sunday night against the Cubs, when he was pulled from the game after recording just four outs. In 1 ⅓ innings pitched, the Cardinals' veteran right-hander allowed three runs on two hits and four walks. Advertisement Fedde's two starts before Sunday's loss to the Cubs weren't any better, as he allowed seven runs in each of them. Despite the major struggles, though, the Cardinals are giving him another chance this Saturday against the Braves. In his last seven games, Fedde is 0-5 with a whopping 6.54 ERA. He has a 4.79 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 94 innings pitched this year. Cardinals starting pitcher Erick FeddeKamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Many Cardinals fans were hopeful the club would turn to 25-year-old RHP Michael McGreevy for Saturday's game. McGreevy has a 3.21 ERA in Triple-A Memphis this year and has been pretty effective in his four appearances with the big-league club in 2025. Advertisement Miles Mikolas, who will start for St. Louis tonight, is pretty much in the same situation Fedde is in. Both pitchers are struggling mightily as of late and are set to become free agents at the end of the season. The only difference is that Mikolas is being paid over $17.5 million, while Fedde is being paid $7.5 million. The Cardinals' starting rotation is bound to look different within the coming month, but it feels unlikely that St. Louis will be willing to eat both Mikolas and Fedde's contracts. A potential answer as to why both Mikolas and Fedde are still being given opportunities to start is so that the Cardinals can try to squeeze any lingering trade value out of one or both of them. After McGreevy, the Cardinals have guys like Tekoah Roby and Quinn Mathews who have had up-and-down years in Memphis. Some names that have been floated around as potential trade targets for St. Louis include Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly and Rays' Taj Bradley. Why John Mozeliak, Cardinals are prepared to wait out the clock before trade deadline
CHICAGO — As he enters his final trade deadline with the St. Louis Cardinals, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak knows better than to speak in absolutes. This year, especially. As the Cardinals hover in and out of contention in a tight National League, the call on whether to buy, sell or hold ahead of MLB's trade deadline — scheduled for 5 p.m. CT on July 31 — could go down to the wire. Advertisement 'As we get closer to the 31st, that's really where we'll be trying to decide,' Mozeliak said. 'I do feel like where we are in the week leading up, or the 72 hours leading up to the trading deadline, may affect how we make our decisions.' If the Cardinals spiral in July, that thinking could change. Saturday's win over the Chicago Cubs — fueled by a go-ahead pinch-hit three-run homer by Yohel Pozo — helped right the ship after the team's recent skid. However, one area that will remain a focus, regardless of the team's direction, is Michael McGreevy's future. St. Louis wants McGreevy, who has made four appearances (three starts) for St. Louis this year, in its rotation full-time. He has spent the majority of the first half in Triple A, serving as a depth piece and spot-starting when needed, but Mozeliak agrees that it's nearing time to see McGreevy as a regular starter. Creating a path will be tricky. YOHEL POZO HAS LEFT THE BUILDING — St. Louis Cardinals (@Cardinals) July 5, 2025 'Right now, we're just not confident with what's behind McGreevy to pull up,' Mozeliak said, referring to the lack of pitching depth available in Triple A. 'As we navigate the next three to four weeks, certainly there are going to be opportunities to get Michael up here at some point. Worst-case scenario for him, there is a clear path for him sometime in August. 'He's pitched really well. He's a deserving young man, and hopefully the opportunity is there.' What else is Mozeliak weighing ahead of this year's deadline? Let's dive in. Asked specifically if he considered adding a right-handed bat as a need, Mozeliak denied it being a definite priority but also acknowledged the team's woes against left-handers as a concern. 'We've been struggling against left-handed pitching, so that's frustrating,' Mozeliak said. 'But knowing we're going to get (Iván) Herrera back at some point, Nolan (Arenado) is a little banged up, (Willson) Contreras a little banged up. I do feel like where they're going to be in a week or two is not a glaring hole in terms of trading deadline thoughts. Advertisement 'We have been able to create a lot of opportunity for the guys we wanted to see go play,' he added. 'We've had consistent starting pitching. We've had a lot of churn in our bullpen, but our key roles have been relatively consistent and effective. As you approach the trading deadline, usually, it's all about having to find more pitching. I think as we stand here today, it's: Are we going to have the ability to score runs consistently?' The market for right-handed hitters is not yet established. Most markets likely won't be until MLB's annual amateur draft concludes over the All-Star break. But there is some understanding of what different organizations are looking for. Pitching is always in high demand, this year especially, given the influx of injuries. 'We have a feel for what people are going to be looking for, and this trading deadline will be no different than past ones,' Mozeliak said, speaking to the market at large. 'Pitching will still be highly desired.' But that isn't the case for the Cardinals, who are a rarity in this regard. With pitcher injuries rampant, St. Louis has kept its starting pitching and its prominent relievers healthy. That will allow the Cardinals to focus on improving their offense, if they deem it necessary. One thing St. Louis will remain cognizant of, if the decision is made to add, is ensuring it won't come at the expense of others who figure to be pieces of next year's team and beyond. Players such as Lars Nootbaar, Alec Burleson and Herrera (when healthy) will be priorities. Nolan Gorman and Jordan Walker can also work their way back into that equation. This suggests that if the Cardinals do shop the market, it would likely be for a rental bat. 'I don't think we're ever going to take away from the guys we're trying to see play,' Mozeliak said. Advertisement Mozeliak will look to thread the needle here. 'When we talk about all-in, I do think based on where the franchise is, based on payroll down and thinking more of the long view, we're still trying to balance today's success with ultimately having long-term success,' he explained. Cardinals ownership tabbed 2025 as a recession season, citing an expected drop in ticket sales and gate revenue, along with cuts from their restructured television deal with Diamond Sports (the parent company of the team's regional sports network, FanDuel Sports Network). But Mozeliak believes that shouldn't impact deadline spending. 'I think so, but I haven't really dove too deep into that conversation,' Mozeliak said. 'I do think if ownership saw we were in a spot to do something, I think they'd support it.' St. Louis won't be a big spender, certainly not to the extent of teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres or New York Mets. With its regime changing this offseason, it's also unlikely Mozeliak will make a move that majorly impacts next year's roster. That responsibility should fall on adviser Chaim Bloom, Mozeliak's successor. He will be available for consultation at the deadline, but the final decision lies with Mozeliak. '(The transition) hasn't really changed any of our thinking yet,' Mozeliak said. 'When we get closer to the deadline, if there's something that could impact how the future looks, clearly we'll take a look at in a more collaborative sense. But right now, it's business as usual. 'Most of the players that we would have to consider trading are the ones that would be free agents anyway,' he added. The trade deadline is always a seller's market. Similar to last season, there aren't many teams that qualify as true sellers. Might the Cardinals take advantage of this and shop some arms? Advertisement When it comes to the back end of the bullpen, that doesn't seem to be the case. Ryan Helsley, Steven Matz and Phil Maton are all on expiring deals. All have postseason experience, reliable track records and are pitching well this season — all traits contending teams tend to seek (and often are willing to overpay for). But if St. Louis is also in contention, there could be hesitancy to move any of the three. 'It would definitely be a concern,' Mozeliak said. 'Right now, I don't think we have intentions of doing that, but again, we'll see where we're at.' If they aren't going to move a high-profile reliever, could they move a veteran starting pitcher? That would create an easy segway to bring McGreevy up permanently, and the Cardinals could likely capitalize on a return. They wouldn't trade Sonny Gray (who has a full no-trade clause anyway). Miles Mikolas also has a full no-trade clause and is highly unlikely to waive it. That leaves Erick Fedde, who is in the final year of a two-year, $15 million deal. But Fedde has struggled of late. He owns a 6.66 ERA over his last five starts, including his two most recent outings, where he allowed seven earned runs in each game. The Cardinals need him to turn it around, not only for their season's sake but also to boost any potential trade value. Over three weeks remain until Mozeliak must make a final call. How the Cardinals play through July will dictate just how close he cuts it.

Cardinals' Former Top Prospect Headed Back to IL
Cardinals' Former Top Prospect Headed Back to IL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cardinals were hopeful that 2025 would be a breakout year for 23-year-old outfielder Jordan Walker. Three months into the season, though, it's safe to say that Walker is not having the type of season neither he nor the club was hoping for. Advertisement A former MLB No. 1 overall prospect, Walker has hit another bump in the road in his young career. For the second time in the last month, the Cardinals are placing Jordan Walker on the 10-day IL, this time with appendicitis. Since returning from the IL on June 14, Walker is slashing a measly .167/.211/.167. In 55 games this year, he's hitting just .210 with a .562 OPS. Cardinals outfielder Jordan WalkerJeff Curry-Imagn Images As the corresponding move for Walker, St. Louis is recalling infielder José Fermín. After appearing in 21 games for the Cardinals in 2023 and 45 games in 2024, this is the first time Fermín has joined the big-league club this year. Advertisement Fermín is hitting .308 with a .914 OPS and five homers in 55 games this season with Triple-A Memphis. The other move the Cardinals announced on Wednesday afternoon is that they are recalling RHP Matt Svanson and, in turn, optioning Michael McGreevy back to Memphis. McGreevy made a spot start against the Cubs on Tuesday night, where he went 4 2/3 innings and allowed five runs en route to an 8-7 Cardinals win. As for Svanson, this is already the fourth time this season he's been recalled from Triple-A. In 13 2/3 MLB innings this year, he has a 3.95 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. With the Cardinals' bullpen being heavily used as of late, Svanson will likely make an appearance in one of the final two games against the Cubs. Advertisement Game three of the four-game series between the Cardinals and Cubs is set for 6:45 p.m. CST tonight at Busch Stadium. ST. LOUIS — Masyn Winn homered, drove in four runs and scored twice to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-7 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night, their seventh win their last eight games. Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy allowed five runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out one and walking one.
