James Gunn Confirms Three GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Stars Are in SUPERMAN — GeekTyrant
James Gunn just can't help bringing a few old friends along for the ride. As the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy director makes his big leap from Marvel to DC with Superman , he's confirmed that three stars from his Marvel days are officially part of his new chapter. In an interview with BuzzFeed, Gunn revealed that Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker, and Bradley Cooper all have roles in Superman, though they may not be as front and center as you'd expect. 'Pom Klementieff is one of the robots,' Gunn said. 'In that same scene, it's Bradley [Cooper] and it's Michael Rooker as another one of the robots. We've got two Guardians right there.' That scene Gunn's referring to was part of the teaser footage released back in April, showing Krypto dragging a wounded Superman to the Fortress of Solitude, where he's tended to by a squad of robot medics. Alan Tudykwas already confirmed as voicing one of them, and now we know who's joining him. Cooper's involvement had already been floating around the rumor mill. Some speculated he might be playing Jor-El, Superman's Kryptonian father, appearing in an early flashback. And while Gunn didn't exactly shoot that down, the way the quotes are delivered makes it unclear Cooper's role in the film is. Gunn's not ruling out more familiar faces joining him in the DCU, either. When asked if we might see other Guardians stars pop up in future projects, he said he's open to it. No word yet on Dave Bautista or Zoe Saldaña, but Gunn's always been one to work with a trusted crew, Michael Rooker has been in almost everything he's done. With Superman hitting theaters next July, we'll find out soon enough just how deep the Marvel-to-DC pipeline goes.

Microsoft's Activision is shaking up its long-running 'Call of Duty' franchise with a break from tradition and some A-list stars. At the conclusion of Xbox Games Showcase 2025 on Sunday, 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 7' was unveiled as the next planned 'CoD' game from Treyarch and Raven Software. With the debut of 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6' just last fall, this marks the first time ever that two 'Black Ops' installments have been released back to back in the life cycle of the 'Call of Duty' franchise. Activision marketing chief Tyler Bahl described casting Ventimiglia as David Mason (who will receive a subtle makeover so the character is more to Ventimiglia's likeness) as the right fit for 'an iconic character from the franchise and one of the fan favorites' from 'Black Ops 2.' 'And then we brought in Kiernan Shipka, which we're super excited about and is red hot right now, to play this character called Emma Kagen,' Bahl told Variety. 'It's a new character, and she is a CEO of this organization called The Guild, and we think her performance will really blow people away. And then finally, Michael Rooker, is returning to the franchise reprising his role as Mike Harper from 'Black Ops 2,' and I think our fans, you know, will be excited to see him, you know, come back and return to the franchise, you know, because he hasn't been here in a while.' Per the game's description, 'In 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 7,' Treyarch and Raven Software are bringing players the most mind-bending 'Black Ops' ever. Developed as the next evolution of 'Black Ops,' this is the first-ever consecutive release within the series, set more than 40 years after the events of 'Black Ops 6.' The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of 'Black Ops 2' and 'Black Ops 6.' Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.' The game is a co-op campaign and, like 'Black Ops 6,' will include round-based zombies. ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7' Reveal Trailer Proves This Is A Direct Sequel To ‘Black Ops 2'
Black Ops 7 Credit: Activision David Mason looks good for his age. The main protagonist of newly revealed Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 should be 56 years-old in 2035 when the game takes place. In the trailer he looks closer to the age of the actor who plays him: Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, This Is Us) is just 47. Ventimiglia is joined by Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) for the upcoming first-person shooter, which is set over over 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6. This is a decade after Black Ops 2 and 40 years before the events of Black Ops 3. Clearly, this game franchise does not like chronological order. Maybe that makes it more of a sequel to Black Ops 2 than Black Ops 3 was. (Black Ops 4 didn't have a campaign, so we won't list that one here, but Black Ops Cold War was set in 1981 and the original Black Ops took place in the 1960s). The fact that you play David Mason, son of Alex Mason who, along with Frank Woods, were the main characters in Black Ops 2, makes this feel even more like a direct sequel to that game. Adding to this feeling is the return of Raul Menendez, Nicaraguan drug lord and leader of the terrorist organization Cordis Die. In Black Ops 2, you play as David Mason and Frank Woods in the past timeline, and as David Mason in the present timeline. You have an option to kill or capture Menendez at the end of the game. His return in Black Ops 7 suggests that the 'canon' version is his survival and, apparently, escape ten years later (though given how Black Ops stories work, he could just be a figment of Mason's imagination). Michael Rooker reprises his Black Ops 2 role of Mike Harper, making this even more credibly a direct sequel to that game. Kiernan Shipka will play Emma Kagan. The trailer certainly paints a trippy picture of a high-tech near-future that veers into nightmare territory, as so many games in the Black Ops franchise tend to do, slipping between missions in the real-world and a psychedelic dream-world filled with demons and other nightmares. It's one thing I really enjoy in this Call Of Duty sub-franchise. There's no word yet on whether futuristic gameplay is returning to Call Of Duty, but I hope we get double-jumping and wall-running. Activision overdid these features when they included versions of them in Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare, but we've had 'boots on the ground' for a long time now, and I'm very curious to see how these mechanics would feel alongside omni-movement, which was introduced in last year's Black Ops 6. We do know, however, that you can play solo or co-op in the game's campaign, which was a feature included last in Black Ops 3. There are no hard details on how that will work or how many players will be able to team up yet, but we should find out more this summer. On the multiplayer side, Activision and Treyarch promise 'all-new maps' so this will not be a repeat of the Modern Warfare II / III debacle. MWIII released with all remastered maps from 2007's Modern Warfare 2 (it gets confusing) and was met with backlash from gamers who thought it should be DLC rather than a new game. But that game proved to be quite good with major improvements to gunplay and movement over MWII, so in the end I disagreed with those claims. Still, I'm glad to see new maps rather than remasters and I hope they're better than what we got at launch with Black Ops 6. Mostly, I'm just glad we're finally getting a proper Black Ops 3.
