Alabama Hit With Another Recruiting Blow On Monday

Alabama Hit With Another Recruiting Blow On Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Give and take has been the motto for the Alabama Crimson Tide's recruiting efforts on Monday. Following two recruitment flips for Alabama's 2026 recruiting class, the Tide is amid a brutal stretch of losing out on top prospects to other schools. Advertisement In the latest of brutal blows for Alabama's recruiting efforts, four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis pledged his allegiance to the Michigan Wolverines over the Crimson Tide, per Hayes Fawcett of On3. 247Sports has Davis as a top 20 defensive lineman in the country and the second-ranked prospect in the state of Missouri. Before his commitment to Michigan, he had only taken two official visits. He toured Tuscaloosa in late May while visiting Michigan this past weekend. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen TERRY/THE OKLAHOMAN / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Davis had a monster junior season at DeSmet High School in St. Louis, posting 46 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. DeSmet went 12-2, winning the Missouri Class 6 state title. Advertisement Davis' decision to pass on Alabama leaves the 2026 class with just two defensive line commits: three-stars JJ Finch and Kamhariyan Johnson. Notably, Davis is the fourth player on Monday to verbally commit to a school other than Alabama, despite having it in their top three schools. Tight end Roman Voss verbally committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, with Alabama long considered a contender for his talent. Fellow four-stars Xavier Tiller (Florida State Seminoles) and Khamari Brooks (Georgia Bulldogs) also opted not to commit to Alabama verbally. Nevertheless, the 2026 recruiting class continues to shape up nicely, especially with two players flipping their commitments to head coach Kalen DeBoer on Monday. Advertisement Safety Rihyael Kelley now holds a verbal commitment to Alabama after decommitting from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, while four-star running back Javari Barnett flipped from the Illinois Fighting Illini to the Tide. Ex-Michigan QB Delivers Verdict on Ohio State's Julian Sayin

Ex-Michigan QB Delivers Verdict on Ohio State's Julian Sayin originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The lofty expectations surrounding the Ohio State Buckeyes are ever-present, even in the face of a new starting quarterback and an unresolved battle for who will win the job before the upcoming season. Advertisement The Buckeyes were the subject of the latest team preview released by the "Crain & Company" podcast. Julian Sayin, who transferred to Ohio State from Alabama after the retirement of Nick Saban, has patiently waited his turn to take over the Buckeyes' offense. However, head coach Ryan Day has not yet named a starter and will do so in August. Podcast co-host David Cone, who played for Ohio State's rival Michigan Wolverines from 2006 to 2009, explained why he's high on Sayin to start and be the successor to Will Howard. "Just the fact that (Sayin's) first game is against the guy who's getting all the hype (Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning), and you maybe think a lot of is because of his last name rather than his ability. Certainly, he must be thinking about that a little bit," Cone began. Advertisement Sayin would be taking over from Howard, who is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers after being their sixth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. After four seasons at Kansas State, he joined the Buckeyes and passed for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last year. First committed to Alabama, Sayin entered the transfer portal and made the move to Columbus, Ohio, in January 2024. The 6-foot-1, 203-pound signal caller is in competition with Lincoln Kienholz and Tavien St. Clair, a 2025 five-star recruit from Bellefontaine, Ohio. The Buckeyes' offense features one of the best playmakers in the country, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. As a true freshman, he collected 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. Florida Gators coach Billy Napier© Brianna Paciorka/News Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Jennings is coming off an official visit to Ann Arbor, and despite still feeling good, he continues to explore what other programs can offer him. He has also taken OVs to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Florida State Seminoles, as well as Florida and Miami over the past several weeks. The Seminoles should also be on each other, as he is an FSU legacy whose father was a linebacker for the program. Sadly, he passed away just a few weeks ago.
