Newcomer secures Republican nomination for Mifflinburg Area School Board through write-ins
MIFFLINBURG — A write-in campaign put a candidate on the Republican ballot for the November General Election in the Region I open seat on the Mifflinburg Area School Board, according to results from the Union County Board of Elections.
Newcomer Timothy Scholl had 84 write-in votes in Tuesday's primary election, securing the nomination for the Republican ballot. He will be seeking the position against Newcomer Precious Maria-Rios, who secured the Democratic nomination with 163 votes.
The single seat is for four years. Incumbent Jodi Marshall did not seek reelection.
Four seats are open for the school board in Mifflinburg.
Incumbent Thomas L. Eberhart, of Region 2, secured the Republican nomination for one seat with 386 votes. Incumbents Brandon Straub and Melissa Wagner secured the Republican primary ballot for two seats in Region 3 with 181 votes and 169 votes, respectively.
