PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities report a 17-year-old has died after being rescued from Seven Tubs Recreation Area Sunday.
Mike VanLuvender, Captain of the Plains Township Fire Department, said that fire crews received a call around 7:20 p.m. on June 29 for a male in water that hadn't resurfaced.
Half an hour later, crews discovered the victim, and he was not breathing. Captain VanLuvender stated that life-saving efforts were performed, and he was transported to Geisinger.

The Luzerne County Coroner, Dion Fernandes, tells 28/22 News that the teen, from Wilkes-Barre, died after just 1:00 a.m. Monday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Coroner Fernandes warns that people should be aware of the terrain before entering the water. 'It all looks good from the surface, but rip tides and large sink holes, debris, can make it very dangerous,' explained Fernandes.
The victim's death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
