‘Sinners' Star Miles Caton Shows Off Vocals In SZA's ‘Snooze' Cover
Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Fresh off his breakout acting debut in Sinners , rising star Miles Caton is reminding the world of his first love — music. Check out his soulful, stripped-down cover of SZA's chart-topping ballad 'Snooze' inside. In a recent TikTok that quickly racked up countless views, Caton is seen perched in a swivel chair inside a recording studio, mic in hand, delivering velvety vocals as he croons, 'I can't lose when I'm with you / How can I snooze and miss the moment? You just too important / Nobody do body like you do.' The cover of SZA's sultry single — which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hails from her SOS album — had fans in their feelings and begging for more. Caton's audience was floored. 'I didn't know I needed to hear Sammie sing SZA until now,' one fan wrote, referencing his Sinners character. Another chimed in, 'Sing it preacher boy!!!' while others demanded he release original music, like yesterday. Though many were introduced to Caton through his role in the Ryan Coogler-directed film Sinners , his journey started with music. The multitalented artist had already shared stages with acts like H.E.R. and released his own single 'This Ain't It' in 2023. Billboard shared that Coogler himself recalled being captivated by Caton's voice from his very first audition, saying, 'He had this once-in-a-lifetime voice… he felt like the character.' Caton's turn in Sinners received critical praise, and his performance in the viral 'Snooze' cover is further proof that he's more than just a one-screen wonder. With an effortlessly soulful delivery and clear musical range, he's the kind of artist who bridges the gap between R&B and today's cinematic storytelling. As fans continue to buzz about both his acting and music, it seems like the best is yet to come. Miles Caton is a name you won't want to snooze on. In an interview with Variety that month, Coogler said that he knew there was something special about Caton from the moment he saw the young star's audition tape. 'He was just in the dark — like he didn't turn his lights on,' the director told the publication at the time. 'Something about that was, like, so intriguing. Sinners will hit Max with a version translated into Black American Sign Language
To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. Sinners was already a huge hit in theaters, and for the film's debut on streaming, Warner Bros. Discovery is trying to make it as accessible as possible. The studio announced today that when the vampire film gets added to Max on July 4, it'll be available to stream alongside a new version of the film interpreted in Black American Sign Language (BASL). The film follows a pair of twin brothers played by Michael B. Jordan, and their aspiring musician cousin played by newcomer Miles Caton, as they stand up a nightclub in Mississippi. Of course, humans aren't the only ones interested in a night of music and dancing, which naturally leads to some decidedly supernatural problems. Besides confidently straddling a line between genre B-movie and thoughtful meditation on race in America, Sinners shines because of its commitment to cultural specificity. Adapting the film in BASL — a distinct dialect of American Sign Language developed by the Black deaf community and with its own methods of signing — feels right in line with the spirit of the film. While most people could make do with closed captions and subtitles, interpreting a film or TV show captures the nuances of performance that aren't normally communicated in text. For the premium most people pay for streaming, offering an ASL version seems like the least streaming services could do. The BASL-version of Sinners is interpreted by Nakia Smith and directed by Rosa Lee Timm, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. Timm also directed the ASL-versions of A Minecraft Movie and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice . Warner Bros. Discovery has been slowly building a library of ASL-versions of its films and TV shows: Both Barbie and the two available seasons of The Last of Us can be viewed with an ASL interpretation.

Hell Yeah, ‘Sinners' Comes Home to Streaming Next Week
You've seen it in theaters, and probably in IMAX. Pretty soon, you'll be able to watch Sinners in the comfort of your own home, as it comes to VOD platforms beginning Tuesday, June 3. Ryan Coogler's period piece vampire thriller has been the talk of the town since its mid-April release, and you'll be able to watch it on Prime Video or Apple TV. Price-wise, Prime Video and Fandango list the film at $25 to buy, but there's no prices to rent it at time of writing. For the physical media crowd, Sinners hits all the standard formats the following month on Tuesday, July 8. Special features include standard deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes on the movie's music, creature FX, and more. An HBO Max release date wasn't set. Earlier this week, Sinners finally came to the people of Clarksdale, Mississippi—where the film takes place—following a passionate online movement to get it screened in the theaterless town. It's playing in town six times over a three-day period, and per Reuters, WB provided the city's civic auditorium with a big screen, projector, and sound system. Coogler attended the screening with production staff, including composer Ludwig Göransson and actor Miles Caton, who plays Sammie. Clarksidale residents and those in the area flocked to see it, and 'hundreds' came to attend the first screening of day one. Attendees praised the film for its portrayal of their town and the Jim Crow era, and mayor Chuck Espy told Reuters the film's attention could help draw attention to the town. At time of writing, Sinners is still playing in theaters in standard, non-IMAX formats. WB's not in a rush to pull it from theaters, but you'll be glad to have it at home once they do.
