Fans fume as Made In Chelsea star rehomes dog due to busy influencer career

Made In Chelsea's Miles Nazaire has faced furious fan backlash after the reality TV star admitted to rehoming his pet dog Rocky due to his busy career A popular figure on Made In Chelsea has faced a huge backlash after admitting to rehoming his dog. Miles Nazaire took to social media to share the news that his pet pooch is no longer his as he is too busy being an influencer. The 29-year-old reality TV star admitted he made the difficult decision to give up his animal as his career as a content creator was becoming too demanding. He uploaded a reel of sweet images and video footage of him with the dog in his post. ‌ Miles wrote on Instagram: "I never imagined having to write a post like this, but I'm aware there's been a lot of speculation about what happened with Rocky. Some parts of my life are deeply personal, and I've chosen not to share everything publicly not out of secrecy, but out of care. ‌ "I waited to speak on this because I needed to make sure Rocky was safe, happy, and rehomed with the perfect family. That has now happened, and he's exactly where he needs to be." The TV star went on to ask for fans to be kind and not make assumptions, but many still took to the comments section to share their dismay. As he continued, he wrote: " I kindly ask that any further assumptions, judgment, or unkindness about my decision be put to rest. This was one of the most difficult choices I've ever had to make, and I made it with love."To those who've shown compassion, understanding, and support, thank you. It's meant more than you know. And a huge thank you to @thecountrydoghotel for assisting with his rehoming." ‌ Responding to the post, one user criticised: "I've moved countries and continents three times… and brought all my animals with me. Even though it was hard, expensive, or not convenient. "I mean, I wouldn't abandon my kid and animals are my kids too. I never judge but I do find it sad people get an animal for time being as if it's an option to give them to someone else if they get 'too busy'." ‌ Another fumed: "As a vet, I'm so disappointed. You took on the responsibility of getting a dog and then ditched him when he didn't suit your lifestyle. Do the responsible thing and never get an animal ever again. You don't deserve one. Grow up." However, some users were on hand to offer messages of support. One commenter wrote: "Sometimes the greatest act of love is the hardest one to make. "Letting go of someone or a pet that you love—not because you stopped caring, but because they deserve more than you can give—is a heartbreaking, grown-up decision. It's grown-up love for a grown-up situation."To give a dog a chance at a life full of attention, joy, and everything they need—even if it means you're no longer in the picture—is the most selfless kind of love there is. You didn't fail them. You put them first. And that's what love, in its most mature and courageous form, looks like." As well as his appearance on Made In Chelsea, Miles has become an influencer. He now has his own YouTube channel that lets fans have an insight into his lifestyle, fitness and food. He has also appeared on other reality shows and contests. He took part in Dancing On Ice, finishing in second place with his professional partner, Vanessa Bauer.

Made in Chelsea: Miles Nazaire 'not bad person' for rehoming dog

Made in Chelsea star Miles Nazaire has come under fire after revealing he rehomed his dog Rocky because he's too busy to look after him. The 29-year-old says he's "not a bad person" and that it was a "really, really tough decision".Some fans criticised Miles for treating Rocky as "disposable" while others praised him as "selfless" for rehoming him. The Dogs Trust says the number of pets being rehomed is at a record high but that people shouldn't be judged for it. Miles, who also appeared on Dancing on Ice last year, told his followers he broke down while travelling for a work event, realising he couldn't keep his pet. "With TV and content creation, your life is up and down most days and Rocky definitely felt that."I don't know if I could handle it anymore and it just wasn't fair on him. I was always travelling."Miles says he got Rocky at a "weird" time when he was "feeling quite lonely" only to realise later he couldn't properly look after him. In a video shared on TikTok and Instagram, he admitted some people may think he's selfish but that he found comments that he "abandoned" his dog upsetting."Realistically I don't owe anyone anything but I wanted to clear things up because I'm not a bad person, I loved my dog and he loved me."Miles says Rocky's been adopted by a family in Somerset and "he is so much happier being in a big field [with] people he loves". 'Don't judge for rehoming' The reaction to Rocky's rehoming has been mixed, with fans split over whether Miles "betrayed" his pet or did the right thing rehoming him. A report by the Dogs Trust last year says younger dog owners (25-34) were more likely to find them hard work or stressful than older owners. Miles isn't alone in choosing to rehome his dog and the charity's chief operating officer Rachel Casey tells BBC Newsbeat "it's almost always because people's circumstances change".After the comments on Miles' post, she says it's important "not to be judgemental" of owners who give up their pets."For people to demonise them or be negative to them is really hard," she says."Our message is to give people a bit of love, to help them through what is a really difficult time when they're giving up a beloved member of their family."And sometimes it can be the best choice, as Rachel says dogs can "develop new bonds"."It is hard for the dog but at the same time, if your circumstance changes and you have to be out at work 16 hours a day - that's also really bad for the dog."Newsbeat has contacted Miles for comment.
