Check out what Arthur had to say about the Commanders: Upside "Jayden Daniels is on a superstar trajectory after one of the best rookie quarterback seasons in league history. The Commanders have been savvy about building around him (and his cheap contract) too, trading for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Washington also added a first-round offensive tackle in Josh Conerly Jr. and re-signed tight end Zach Ertz. This is a team set to compete for Super Bowls for many years to come. Oklahoma Sooners will stripe the stadium against Michigan
The Oklahoma Sooners have a total of seven home games during the 2025 season, including a huge nonconference showdown against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 2. Earlier this week, the university announced themes for each home game, with the primetime showdown against the 2023 champs as the highlight. OU will stripe Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 6th, a theme the Sooners have brought out for plenty of other big games in the past. Alternating sections of fans will wear red and white shirts, displaying a great look on TV. That contest could very well earn a lot of eyeballs in early September, as it could even be the site for ESPN's College GameDay in Week 2. The network has already announced that kickoff will be at 6:30 p.m. on ABC's Saturday Night Football. But the Michigan game isn't the only one to get a theme in Norman this year. Among others, September 20th against Auburn is "Wear Crimson" day, Homecoming against Ole Miss is set for October 25th and "Military Appreciation Day" is against Missouri on November 22nd. After Oklahoma lost two home games a year ago (against Tennessee and South Carolina), the Sooners would love to get back to their 2023 form, where they went undefeated in Norman. Eastern States Exposition leaders receive Patriot Award for military support
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Eastern States Exposition (ESE) President and CEO Gene Cassidy and Captain of Public Safety Johnny Ramirez were each recognized with the Patriot Award for their commitment to supporting military personnel and veterans. A representative from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) visited the Eastern States Exposition last Friday to present Cassidy and Ramirez with the award. The Patriot Award is bestowed upon employers who support military employees by offering flexible schedules and time off based on deployment. Holyoke unveils mural downtown to honor community leader Ramirez and Cassidy were nominated by ESE's Sergeant of Safety and Security, Christopher Thompson. Thompson has served in the military for over 28 years, with experience in both the Navy and Air Force. 'I want to thank you for putting my name in for nomination,' Cassidy said. 'Eastern States Exposition does not conscientiously think about these things. We do it by nature. In my office, I have a trophy that was once presented to our founder, Joshua Loring Brooks, in 1919, because of what he did to support the war efforts during the First World War. So, the history of Eastern States Exposition is not lost on me now.' During the reception, Cassidy signed a statement of support to affirm his continued commitment to actively serving military and veterans, which will be displayed in the Brooks Building on the ESE grounds. The Eastern States Exposition offers Military Appreciation Day on the first day of The Big E every year, granting free admission to all active-duty and retired military personnel and their dependents. Resources are provided throughout the fair for counseling, benefits, medical treatment, and other essentials. This year, Military Appreciation Day will be on September 12. Atlanta Braves Host Medal of Honor Recipients
The National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership will collaborate with the Atlanta Braves for an evening of recognition and reflection on May 23 during their Military Appreciation Day presented by T-Mobile at Truist Park as the Braves take on the San Diego Padres. This special day will include a pregame ceremony featuring a tribute to Medal of Honor recipients Edward C. Byers Jr., U.S. Navy retired, and Leroy A. Petry, U.S. Army retired, who will be honored on-field for their extraordinary service and sacrifice. The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest award for valor in combat. Today, only 61 living recipients remain — and two will take center stage at Truist Park to share the values that defined their service: courage, integrity, commitment, sacrifice, citizenship and patriotism. Their stories, shared in the presence of Braves fans and community leaders, offer lessons that transcend the battlefield and resonate across every facet of American life. The special on-field presentation will be one of several ways the Braves will commemorate Military Appreciation Day. Guests of the National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership — including veterans, supporters and civic leaders — will gather in a private suite provided by the Braves to celebrate these heroes and the organization's mission to deliver values-based leadership education programming nationwide. The National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership is committed to preparing individuals across all walks of life to meet their moment. Through immersive programs and its upcoming flagship facility in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, the Center for Leadership is equipping tomorrow's leaders with the values that define the nation's greatest heroes.
