Missing Roseville teen Duane Cahoon may be in danger, authorities say
A teenage boy missing from Roseville, Minnesota, may be in danger, according to authorities. An alert from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said 16-year-old Duane Cahoon was last seen Sunday at 11 p.m. Authorities believe he left his home on a grey Cannondale bicycle and they are "concerned for Cahoon's safety." Duane Cahoon Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Cahoon is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Officers shoot chainsaw-wielding man in Twin Cities, police say
Police in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, say officers shot a man wielding a chainsaw overnight Thursday amid a domestic disturbance call. It happened on the 3200 block of 63rd Avenue North, according to police, after officers were called to the scene on a report of someone inside a residence "armed with knives." Police say crisis negotiators were called in to assist before officers told the suspect he was going to be arrested. Police say the man then walked out of the home with a chainsaw. "While trying to arrest and control the male, officers used pepper balls, 40 mm less lethal, and ultimately Brooklyn Center Police Officers discharged their firearms striking the male," police said in a statement released early Thursday morning. Police say the man was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition. The officers involved are now on critical incident leave as the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates. Police also say "multiple area police agencies" assisted them at the scene. This story will be updated.

BCA investigating "death and a use-of-force incident" in Albert Lea
State officials say they are investigating "a death and a use-of-force incident" in southern Minnesota Wednesday morning. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension announced the investigation in rural Albert Lea just after 3 a.m., but gave no information about what agency used force, what type of force was used or who died. The agency said it would release more information, but gave no timeframe. Albert Lea is about 95 miles south of Minneapolis. This story will be updated.

Suspect in custody after Mapleton housemate found dead, officials say
A suspect is in custody after the person he lived with was found dead in the southern Minnesota home they shared, authorities said. The investigation started just after 2 a.m. Tuesday with an abandoned car on Highway 22 near the Terrace View Golf Course in Mapleton, according to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office. Despite a witness's help, authorities could not find the driver. Deputies went to the Mapleton home of the vehicle's registered owner, where they found him dead "with obvious signs of trauma," the sheriff's office said. Police have not shared his age or identity. Authorities eventually found and arrested the driver of the abandoned car, who also lived with the victim. Mapleton police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating with the sheriff's office. Authorities say the public is not in danger. Mapleton is about 100 miles southwest of Minneapolis.

Moorhead toddler's death deemed suspicious, prompting investigation
Authorities say the death of a toddler in western Minnesota is suspicious and warrants investigation. Family brought an unresponsive 20-month-old child to a hospital in Moorhead, Minnesota, Thursday morning, according to the city's police department. Though medical professionals tried to save the child's life, they died at the hospital. A coroner flagged the death as suspicious, and the Moorhead Police Department and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension began investigating. Authorities secured the family's home as part of the investigation. The Ramsey County medical examiner will autopsy the child. No one has been arrested in connection to the death. To report concerns about child abuse, neglect or sexual abuse, the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families recommends contacting the county or Tribal Nation where the child lives.
