Named the best film of 2024 by Cahiers du cinéma and nominated for eight César awards, the tantalizing comic thriller is the most acclaimed masterwork yet from the ever-audacious Alain Guiraudie (Stranger by the Lake). The film stars Félix Kysyl and Catherine Frot. Get more details below! Synopsis: A web of secrets, suspicions, and desires ensnares the inhabitants of an insular French village in this tantalizing comic thriller from ever-audacious auteur Alain Guiraudie. Returning to his rural hometown to attend the funeral of the mentor he loved, enigmatic, sexually fluid drifter Jérémie (Félix Kysyl) stirs up long-simmering feelings of lust, jealousy, and rage among those he left behind—including the dead man's widow (Catherine Frot), her hot-tempered son (Jean-Baptiste Durand), and a curiously protective local priest (Jacques Develay) with whom Jérémie forges a twisted bond. Amid the evocatively earthy milieu, Guiraudie constructs a slippery, continuously surprising moral universe where love and hatred, eroticism and violence, spiritual grace and mortal sin, are intimately entwined. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding party venue changed over fear of protests; new venue revealed
A high-profile wedding celebration party for Amazon founder and journalist has been moved from central Venice to a more secure, isolated location, reports Reuters. The report quotes sources familiar with the matter who said that the venue change comes due to fears of protests and safety concerns. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Originally planned for Cannaregio, a bustling nightlife area in Venice, the wedding party has now been shifted to the Arsenale — a 14th-century former shipyard in the Castello district. Protestors welcomed the party venue change. 'The news that Bezos has run away from the Misericordia is a great victory for us,' said Tommaso Cacciari, a leader of the 'No Space for Bezos' campaign, referring to the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, the initially chosen venue. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding venue According to a report by The Sun, the couple has reportedly chosen a stunning open-air theater on a Venetian island as their wedding venue. 'The word is that they have booked the theater which has been restored,' a source told the publication. "It's not your usual venue for a wedding, it would be iconic,' the source added. "Everyone is talking about the wedding and it's going to be a huge celebration." Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding dates The wedding celebrations are expected to take place over three days, likely from June 26 to 28. While the exact date of the wedding is not known yet, rumours suggest that the couple may tie the knot on June 27. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding guest list According to reports, nearly 90 private jets are expected to land in the Italian city. The Guardian reports that Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka, her husband, Jared Kushner, and their children are among the first guests to arrive. The family is reportedly staying at the St Regis, close to St Mark's Square. Other VIPs expected to attend include Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria, and Orlando Bloom, with Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, and Elton John also possibly on the guest list. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding cost The wedding is rumoured to cost around $9.5 to $ 11 million, the NewsNation reports. This estimated cost is based on various calculations, including expenses for hair, the dress, flowers, and the wedding planner. As per CEOWorld, top-tier wedding planners like Colin Cowie can charge up to 20% of the total wedding cost to organize a flawless multi-day celebration — which means for a wedding costing at least $9.5 million, his fee could be a staggering $2 million. Dress, hair, makeup and flowers may make up to $525,000.

Bezos' Venice wedding party moved following protests – DW – 06/25/2025
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's Venice wedding party was moved out of the city center due to security reasons. Many have protested because they say the lavish plans are yet another sign of exploitation of the city. Billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has changed the venue of the party celebrating his wedding with former TV presenter Lauren Sanchez, following protests against the event scheduled for the weekend in Italy's Venice. The wedding party, which was to be held on Saturday in a popular and central nightlife area, in Cannaregio's Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia, was moved to an isolated, less accessible part of the lagoon city for security reasons. The highly anticipated event, dubbed "the wedding of the century," is set to draw a bevy of celebrities, including US President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, both of whom have already arrived in Venice. The wedding party, which will include some 250 guests, will now be held in the Arsenale, an exhibition space for the Venice Biennale art fair. The venue, which lies further from the center, was originally a shipyard serving the Venetian Republic's maritime empire during its heyday in the 15th century. The venue is considered safer than the medieval former religious school where the party was initially scheduled to be held. It is surrounded by water, making it impossible to reach by land when bridges are raised. Protesters including residents and pressure groups have rallied against the wedding ceremony for weeks, arguing that the event will transform the city into a private amusement park for the rich. Protesters ask city authorities to prioritize local needs over tourism, with more protests scheduled on Saturday on Venice's canals, bridges and narrow streets in an effort to turn the event into a "nightmare" for the Amazon founder and his guests. "The news that Bezos has run away from the Misericordia is a great victory for us," Reuters quoted Tommaso Cacciari, a leader of the "No Space for Bezos" campaign, as saying. The exact date and location of the wedding have so far been kept a secret for security reasons. The wedding and the parties held on its sidelines are expected to cost €40-€48 ($46.5 - $55.6 million), according to Luca Zaia, president of the Veneto region that comprises the city. Bezos, in parallel, will make sizable charity donations, including €1 million for Corila, an academic consortium that studies Venice's lagoon ecosystem, according to Italian media reports. Zaia defended the wedding and criticized the protesters, saying that it would bring revenue of up to €48 million to local businesses, via the 90 private jets that will carry guests to nearby airports.
