Chris Hemsworth's personal trainer offloads resort-style home for record price

Loading content... A luxury acreage near Byron Bay owned by a wellness coach to high-profile stars such as Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has sold for a record-breaking price. James Duigan, who has trained the likes of supermodel Elle MacPherson, and his wife, Cindy, recently sold their eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom house 'Cedar Mill' for almost $13 million, setting a benchmark in the suburb of Newrybar. Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Settlement records reveal Tom Misner, a recording industry pioneer who sold his music education network, SAE Institute, for over $300 million in 2010, as the cashed-up purchaser. Misner splashed just under $13 million to secure the five-acre property on Broken Head Road. It's one of two multi-million dollar purchases in the Byron Bay area for Monaco-based Misner, who forked out $15 million for Rockpool Farm in Bangalow in November. The deal was overseen by listing agent Will Phillips from Sotheby's International Realty Byron Bay. It topped the previous suburb record set in October 2021 with the $12 million sale of an ultra-modern three-bedroom, three-bathroom house on almost 37 acres at 54 Old Byron Bay Road. Although the result smashed the Newrybar suburb record, the sale price fell short of the initial asking price of $20 million. The property, 10 minutes from Byron Bay, was initially listed in March 2023 with another agency before Mr Phillips took it to market in September. Barbie star Margot Robbie and her filmmaker husband Tom Ackerley were among those who were reportedly seen at the open house inspections. Cotality records show the Duigans purchased the property in 2019 for $2.415 million. The couple rebuilt the main residence and installed a swimming pool and spa. Positioned in Newrybar's hinterland, not far from a luxury compound under construction by Liam Hemsworth, the cedar-clad residence is described as "a glorious re-imagining of classic barn-style living" with interiors by designer Jase Sullivan. Drawing on global design influences from London to Malibu, the property comprises two barn-style wings, with the living and sleeping areas connected via a glass atrium. Designed for entertaining, the open plan living and dining space features a marble and blackbutt timber kitchen, overlooking internal and alfresco dining areas. Features include high gabled ceilings, retractable glass walls, polished concrete floors, exposed timber beams and a stone fireplace. The two-storey accommodation wing has six bedrooms with en-suites and overlooks the property's magnesium swimming pool. A 24-person spa is positioned to take in views of the hinterland and the ocean. In addition, there is a separate two-bedroom cottage. Wellness entrepreneur Duigan is the author of the bestselling Clean & Lean diet series books, which have sold nearly a million copies worldwide. When the couple listed the property for sale in 2023, Duigan posted to Instagram: "Built our beautiful dream home, it's magical. "The whole thing has been an incredible experience. "In the meantime, we found a beautiful farm just down the road so .... new build starts soon." According to Cotality, the median house value in Newrybar is $2.23 million.

Audio guru pays $12.9m for personal trainer to the stars' Byron spread

Music engineer pioneer Tom Misner, of SAE Institute, has emerged as the nearly $12.9 million buyer of Cedar Hill in Byron Bay's hinterland, breaking the suburb record in Newrybar. The Croatian-born businessman, who made his fortune selling his audio engineering school SAE Institute for about $300 million in 2010, purchased the eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom award-winning home and it settled under the company Byron Dream Holdings, of which he is a director. Misner purchased the two-hectare property from wellness guru and personal trainer to the stars James Duigan and his wife Chrissy. Duigan has trained the likes of supermodels such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Elle Macpherson as well as Australia's own Thor actor Chris Hemsworth. Misner will be joining Chris' younger brother Liam Hemsworth, who is a Newrybar local. Liam is in the process of building his own luxury compound. The property sold through Will Phillips of Sotheby's International Realty Byron Bay, who declined to comment. It ends a multi-year campaign to offload the property and while it falls short of the initial $20 million asking price when it was first listed with a different agent, it has managed to reset the suburb record by almost $1 million. The previous suburb record was held by philanthropist Arvid Petersen who paid $12 million in 2021 for a five-bedroom house set on almost 37 acres. It's not the first time Misner has broken the record in the Byron shire as he is moving from his nearby Bangalow property, for which he paid a then-suburb record of $15 million for his Tuscany-inspired multi residence.

Lena Dunham Is Living Her Botticelli Meets British Icon Nigella Lawson Fantasy

The cherry red dress features one draped shoulder on a strapless bodice, with draping that cascades over the hips into a train. The back is a tied corset with interweaving draping. It feels romantic, yet powerful and full of movement. Misner's sensual signature look speaks in service to the contours of the body, using draping techniques to extend and celebrate curves. 'I noticed Lena liked the corseted pieces that had drape work on top, one of my signature methods—each piece is one-of-one,' says Misner. 'This method helps me manipulate silhouette, adding volume to hips and accentuating a corseted waist. Originally, we were going to do a midi dress with a boned hoop, but switched to a full length to make it more red carpet-worthy. They really trusted me and let me do my own thing, so when it was finished, it was the first time they had seen what it would look like.' Misner prioritized both Lena's comfort and support in the dress, making an internal boned base, with a hand-sewn drape put on afterwards. 'I knew she would be wearing the dress for a whole evening, and I didn't want it to feel uncomfortable or constricted, regardless of the corsetry,' she explains. As the designer does with each custom piece, she built Dunham a mannequin to match her measurements and then worked directly off it as a body double. 'Together they made possible the most striking Botticelli fantasy; a little bit early Renaissance, a little Nigella Lawson—my curvy British icon,' says Dunham. 'It embraces what I love about my body, drapes in inventive ways, and makes me feel both powerful and innocent. It's such a gift to wear. Michael and Ellie are both so young and have such vision.' Lena's custom Ellie Misner dress fitted on a mannequin made to her measurements by the designer. 'Every piece from Ellie is truly one of a kind. Her dedication to individuality and creativity—paired with an unwavering commitment to size inclusivity—is what makes Ellie herself so unique,' says Handler. Fitting, however, had to happen digitally—with a lot of yapping and quicktime getting to know each other. Misner FaceTimed Lena, Handler, and his team in New York when the dress got to them, and a week later for her digital fitting. The dress fit perfectly, and they decided to go bolder and make a long, detachable train. Handler sourced a matching fabric and built it in New York under Misner's guidance. 'It's something that gave her that red carpet 'wow' moment,' says Handler.

Alejandro Kirk's three-run homer powers Blue Jays past Rays 3-1

TORONTO - Alejandro Kirk's three-run blast powered the Toronto Blue Jays past the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 on Wednesday. Kirk's third home run of the season broke open the game after Toronto (21-21) trailed by a run for two innings. Chris Bassitt struck out six and limited the Rays to just one run over 5 2/3 innings, despite giving up seven hits and two walks. Relievers Brendon Little (2-0), Yariel Rodriguez and Yimi Garcia preserved the win, with Garcia earning his third save of the season. Kameron Misner's RBI single in the third gave Tampa Bay (19-23) its only lead of the game. Ryan Pepiot (2-5) gave up three runs over six innings of work, striking out seven but giving up six hits and a walk. Eric Orze pitched two innings of scoreless relief. Takeaways Rays: Pepiot was superb until the sixth inning when he walked Vladimir Guerrero Jr. — his first bases on balls of the game — and then gave up a single to Daulton Varsho, setting up Kirk's three-run homer and Tampa's loss. Blue Jays: Leaving runners on base continues to be a problem for Toronto, with the hosts stranding six across the game, including Guerrero at third base twice. That adds to the 305 players left on base by the Blue Jays, tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for seventh most in Major League Baseball, heading into Wednesday's game. Key moment Bassitt's outing could have been derailed in the fourth when Travis Jankowski made contact with the ball. Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement fielded the hit and fired it home to Kirk to get Misner out at home for the inning's second out. Danny Jansen then grounded out to limit the damage to Misner's RBI single. Key stat Kirk's batting average improved to. 293 with two hits on Wednesday, eights points better than his average in 2022 when he made his only all-star game appearance. Up next Kevin Gausman (3-3) will take the mound for Toronto in the matinee finale Thursday. Zack Littell (2-5) gets the start for Tampa Bay. This report by The Canadian Press was first published May 14, 2025.
