Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri Crowned Miss World 2025
Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri has been crowned Miss World 2025 at a grand finale event held on Saturday in Hyderabad, Telangana. She edged out Ethiopia's Hasset Dereje Admassu, who finished as the runner-up. For the ceremony, Chuangsri wore a white gown adorned with opal-like florals. The gown symbolised both healing and strength. She was crowned by the reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic. Chuangsri emerged as the winner among 107 national representatives from across the globe. This is Thailand's first win at the Miss World pageant. India's Nandini Gupta, who represented the country this year, did not make it to the Top 8 finalists. Krystyna Pyszkova, who won the Miss World 2024 title, was crowned in a ceremony also held in India - the first time in 28 years the event was hosted in the country. She had beaten Yasmina Zaytoun of Lebanon, Ache Abrahams of Trinidad and Tobago, and Lesego Chombo of Botswana to take the title. In 2024, India's Sini Shetty had made it to the Top 8 but missed out on a place in the Top 4. India has previously won the Miss World title six times, with Manushi Chhillar being the last winner.

Miss World 2025: Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri Crowned Miss World 2025 in Hyderabad
Miss World 2025: Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri shines as Miss World 2025, crowned in a dazzling ceremony in Hyderabad Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri has been crowned Miss World 2025 at a glittering ceremony held on 31 May at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. She received the prestigious title from outgoing Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic. The 72nd edition of the global pageant saw 108 contestants from around the world competing for the crown. Ethiopia's Hasset Dereje was named first runner-up, while Poland's Maja Klajda secured the second runner-up position. Aurlie Joachim from Martinique rounded off the top four. India's representative, Nandini Gupta, made it to the top 20. Who is Opal Suchata Chuangsri? Born and raised in Phuket, Opal is currently pursuing a degree in international relations and works as a professional model. Her advocacy for breast cancer awareness stems from a personal experience — at just 16, she discovered a lump in her breast, which, though non-cancerous, motivated her to become a voice for early detection and awareness in Thailand. Her advocacy initiative, Opal For HER, focuses on education and empowerment for women, and her finale gown was designed as a tribute to this mission — embodying the symbolic strength, beauty, and transformation of the opal gemstone. Interestingly, Opal also competed in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant held in Mexico City, where she initially placed as the third runner-up. However, her ranking was later revoked after she accepted the Miss World Thailand title before completing her full reign as Miss Universe Thailand. A Star-Studded Finale The grand finale in Hyderabad was a celebration of beauty, culture, and purpose. It was hosted by former Miss World 2016, Stephanie del Valle — resplendent in a traditional Indian lehenga — and Indian television host Sachiin Kumbhar. The event featured energetic performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter, bringing an extra touch of glamour to the evening. The judging panel featured a mix of global personalities, including actor Sonu Sood — who was honoured with the Miss World Humanitarian Award — and Sudha Reddy, who currently serves as the Global Ambassador for the Miss World Foundation's 'Beauty With a Purpose" initiative. Also on the panel were Dr Caryna Turrell (Miss England 2014 and public health expert from the University of Cambridge) and reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszkova. Julia Morley CBE, the Chairwoman of Miss World, led the jury, while the event was graced by several Indian celebrities, including actors Manushi Chhillar, Rana Daggubati, Namrata Shirodkar, and politician Chiranjeevi. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was also in attendance, underscoring the event's cultural significance. This marks the second consecutive year that India has hosted the Miss World pageant — the 71st edition took place in Mumbai in 2024. With Hyderabad now joining the ranks of global cities that have welcomed this iconic event, the pageant continues to highlight India's growing prominence on the world stage. As the new Miss World, Opal Suchata Chuangsri will spend the year championing her platform and travelling the globe as an ambassador for causes close to her heart, continuing the legacy of beauty with a purpose.
