‘Cool guy': 80s rockstar pulled over in Kansas en route to show
KIOWA COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Sheriff's deputies in Kansas made an unexpected traffic stop on Friday when they pulled over a vehicle carrying none other than 1980s pop-rock icon John Waite and his band. Sgt. Justin Rugg conducted the stop as the group was headed to Dodge City for a performance at United Wireless Arena. A longtime fan, Rugg couldn't hide his excitement. Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce makes shirtless cameo in 'Happy Gilmore 2' 'I'm not even on cloud nine, I'm on like cloud 12,' Rugg said after meeting the English rock singer, best known for hits like 'Missing You' and 'When I See You Smile.' The Kiowa County Sheriff's Office shared the encounter in a lighthearted social media post, calling Waite a 'cool guy' and thanking him for taking a photo with the sergeant. On his official Facebook page, Waite said they were 'pulled over for speeding' and called Rugg a 'good guy cop.' Waite's band continued on their way, with deputies wishing them a 'rockin' time.' His career began in the 1970s when he became the bassist and lead vocalist for The Babys, which later disbanded after Waite was 'pulled from the stage by an overzealous fan during an encore.' According to his website, Waite 'seriously injured his knee' in the incident. Waite went on to launch a solo career through the 1980s before forming Bad English with former bandmates of The Babys, Jonathan Cain and Ricky Phillips; Journey guitarist Neal Schon; and drummer Deen Castronovo. The group would break up a few years later, relaunching Waite's solo efforts.

Wicklow's Netflix and Playstation musicians to headline Dublin's Whelan's
The award-winning duo consists of composer/producer Gus Crawford Collins and singer/songwriter, The Voice finalist Kim Hayden. You will have heard this exciting duo's cinematic music on several of the latest Netflix hit series, including Fool Me Once, Missing You and Obsession, as well as blockbuster movie trailers, including Mothers Instinct and Unsung Hero and, of course, the show that really brought their music to the mainstream, Love Island. Their work for Netflix's Obsession trailer earned them the award for Best Use Of Music at the Promax awards, while PlayStation's renowned 30th Anniversary Trailer also featured their award-winning cover of 'Dreams'. Their sound, which has been carefully crafted and honed over many yeas, has been described as 'uniquely ethereal, cinematic and atmospheric', and the pair found their winning formula in the film, tv, trailers and gaming world soundscape. Dream A Lot's originals and reimagines of classic hits such as Christina Aguilera's Fighter, Kylie's Can't Get You Out Of My Head and their viral cover of Dreams by the Cranberries have been heard by millions across the world. On top of which they have made their way into the top five Shazam charts with their cover of Shakespeare's Sister Stay. All the work is done at a little studio at their home in Newcastle, Co Wicklow, where apart from film and TV soundtracks, they work on original music, which they always hoped to release and perform. When they spoke to last year, they did hint at a live show, and in terms of replicating their music, as with all they do, they were aiming high. 'We've been toying with some ideas,' Gus said. 'Because the kind of thing we want to do is like a sort of Hans Zimmer-style show, make it really, you know, super cinematic. Almost like a soundtrack night almost essentially. I think we're going to try and be brave.' This is a rare opportunity to see and hear the Dream A Lot experience as they play their favourite tracks and new originals live in the intimate Whelan's venue. Dream A Lot, with special guests Nadia and Kellie Lewis, play Whelan's Main Venue on Sunday, July 27.

'Fool Me Once meets Happy Valley': The Guest is BBC's new twisty thriller starring Broadchurch's Eve Myles
Harlan Coben's Fool Me Once meets Happy Valley in the BBC's new thriller, The Guest. Coming to our screens this Autumn, The Guest explores the dangerously magnetic relationship between successful business owner Fran (played by Eve Myles) and her young, uncertain employee Ria (Gabrielle Creevy). When Ria begins working as a cleaner for Fran, her life as she knew it changes forever, but not necessarily for the better... The BBC recently released the first-look images at the new "twisty thriller", which is sure to have viewers at "the edge of your seat", according to BBC Cymru Wales' Head of Commissioning, Nick Andrews. So, when does it start? An who else is the cast? Read on for everything you need to know ahead of its release. The Guest is set to air on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC One Wales this Autumn. The four-part series is written and executively produced by the multi-award-winning writer, Matthew Barry (Men Up). It's produced by Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios), which was behind Netflix's Fool Me Once and Missing You. "The Guest is a twisty-turny edge of your seat thriller which you will be watching from behind your sofa. Matt has written a beautifully crafted tense story - an absolute showstopper of a series produced by some of the very best in the business," Nick Andrews said. The Guest focuses on the "toxic and beguiling relationship" between business owner Fran and her employee Ria. The official synopsis reads: " Ria has never had the time or opportunity to think about what she might actually want from the world. So, when she starts cleaning for Fran, she's intoxicated by this confident and self-assured woman who encourages her to take control of her life, and when Ria flourishes, anintense friendship is forged. "However, when Fran's advice leads to a shocking event, the lives ofthese two very different women become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots. What follows is a compelling and manipulative game of cat and mouse. But just who is playing who?" The BBC released first look images giving viewers a glimpse of the lead cast in their roles. The pictures showcase the disparity between Ria's and Francesca's lives before becoming intertwined in one of the most unhinged ways. So far, only the lead roles have been announced for The Guest. Below is the cast list so far: Not just yet, but there's lots of first-look images of Myles and Creevy in action. We'll update you right here once we know more. The Guest will air on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC One Wales this Autumn.
