Ex-Vernon County GOP chair faces election law charges
VERNON COUNTY, Mo. — The former chair of the Vernon County Republican Party was charged today with violating Missouri Election Laws.
Cyndia Haggard is charged with one count of election interference, after attorneys with the Secretary of State's office found she impeded the August 2024 election verification process.
We were in the Vernon County courthouse when she was removed from the courtroom where the county clerk was certifying the election.
Haggard was a candidate on the ballot at the time and was not supposed to be involved in the certification process. She faces up to a year in jail and a fine of no more than $25,000 if convicted.
Haggard was not re-elected to her position as a chair of the Republican committee but has continued to maintain control over it.
