Qatar tops MENA in 2025 Global Peace Index
QNA Doha Qatar continues to make its mark on the global stage, topping the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in the 2025 Global Peace Index, issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) in Australia. Qatar has secured 27th rank globally out of 163 countries included in the report, climbing two positions from its ranking the previous year. In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said this accomplishment builds on Qatar's consistent performance in the Global Peace Index, having maintained the top position in the MENA region from 2015 to 2025. Qatar also earned high global rankings, outperforming many developed nations due to its strong overall scores. In the Societal Safety and Security domain, Qatar ranked 8th globally and 1st in the Arab world, placing it among the 10 safest countries worldwide, ahead of many developed countries. These results reflect Qatar's high levels of security and stability, achieved through a comprehensive framework implemented by the MoI in coordination with various state institutions. This framework ensures enhanced security performance, effective crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property, all in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ministry has made significant strides in both security and public services, expanding its departments, constructing modern facilities, and upgrading its technological infrastructure to improve operational efficiency and streamline services for citizens and residents. As part of its crime prevention strategy, the MoI has intensified efforts to bolster community safety and proactively prevent criminal activity, alongside continuous monitoring of the security landscape to address potential vulnerabilities before they can be exploited to commit crimes. Additionally, the ministry has prioritised digital transformation, enhancing its security services through the latest communication and information technologies. These upgrades aim to combat emerging forms of crime, particularly cybercrime, while also enabling coordination with relevant agencies to address social concerns and manage public complaints through multiple channels. The Global Peace Index, published annually by the IEP in partnership with the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney, is developed in collaboration with a network of experts and research institutions. The index evaluates peace levels across countries and regions based on a set of security, social, and political indicators.

Kuwait Busts Visa Scam Gang Linked to Europe Fraud
Kuwait's Ministry of Interior (MoI) has arrested a criminal ring accused of forging documents to manipulate visa applications for entry into several European countries. The MoI confirmed that the arrests were made by the General Department of Residency Investigations, operating under the Citizenship and Residency Affairs Sector, as part of a broader crackdown on organised crime. The investigation, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, uncovered serious violations, including: Falsified professions Forged work permits Tampered bank statements Fabricated documents aimed at meeting visa requirements imposed by European embassies Authorities identified an Egyptian national, believed to be operating the scam from abroad via social media, as one of the main figures behind the illegal immigration scheme. Several other suspects were arrested within Kuwait, and their devices and forged documents have been seized. As part of ongoing international security cooperation, Kuwaiti authorities have informed their counterparts in Egypt, where further investigations are underway. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to upholding national security and enforcing the law, warning that it will not tolerate such criminal activities. Kuwait shuts down Europe-bound visa scam, nabs criminal network
KUWAIT CITY, July 1: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Tuesday the arrest of a criminal ring involved in forging data to manipulate visa applicants for European countries. In a press statement by the MoI, the operation was carried out by the General Department of Residency Investigations, led by the Citizenship and Residency Affairs Sector, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat organized crimes. The investigation, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, uncovered the criminal activities by the suspects, including altering professions, fabricating information, tampering with work permits, bank statements, and other documents to meet visa requirements set by several European embassies. Initial findings revealed the involvement of an Egyptian, who was operating a social media account from abroad to promote illegal immigration services, as the authority arrested several other members of the ring in Kuwait as well as seized their devices and documents. Authorities in Egypt were informed, as part of the international security cooperation, and procedures are underway to complete the investigations, the statement added. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the country's security and enforcing the law, warning that it will not tolerate such criminal activities, as well as urged the public to adhere to all laws and regulations. MoI opens registration for new officer cadet courses
KUWAIT CITY, June 23: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Monday the opening of registration for a new round of officer cadet and training courses for both male and female students. Applications will be accepted from June 23 to July 7. According to an official statement, the courses for male applicants include the 49th batch of officer cadets holding high school diplomas, the 33rd batch of specialized officer cadets for university degree holders and scholarship recipients holding high school diplomas from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, male students can apply for the Coast Guard officer cadet course, which will be conducted at the Mohammed Al-Ghanim Maritime Academy in Qatar. For female applicants, the registration includes the 15th batch of the female officer cadet course for university graduates, along with a similar batch of female officer cadets who will be trained in Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman. Other opportunities include the 15th batch of non-commissioned officer cadet courses for the ranks of warrant officer and sergeant, and the 14th batch of the policewoman course. Applicants are required to complete the registration process via the unified government electronic services app, Sahel. They must also submit all required documentation and ensure their data is entered according to the steps outlined within the Ministry of Interior's services on the platform. The ministry urged interested candidates to review both the general and specific eligibility requirements by visiting the official MoI social media accounts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) via the handle @MOI_KUW.
