'You don't want to live like a nun' Helen Mirren issues life advice to younger generation
Dame Helen Mirren has advised the younger generation to avoid smoking, but insisted they shouldn't "live like a nun" either. The 79-year-old actress is gearing up for her 80th birthday next month, and while she is against smoking, she also encouraged the youth of today to "do everything, but don't do too much of anything". When issuing advice to youngsters, she told Grazia magazine: "Don't smoke, that's rule number one and do everything, but don't do too much of anything - that's a great way of looking at things, because it's important to take care of your health, but you also don't want to live like a nun." The MobLand star has been a household name for years, but she is still pleasantly surprised when someone approaches her to tell her she is "great". She said: "It always surprises me when someone comes up to me in a supermarket or an airport and says that they think I'm great, but it's lovely. "This sort of thing is fun, it's fabulous, it's fantastic. It doesn't feel right to say that I'm proud of being a role model to people, but it's a great feeling." Helen admitted one of her luxuries in life is buying make-up and then heading home to spend "hours" applying her new purchases. But the star doesn't like it when her favourite products are discontinued. She added: "My idea of a treat is going into a drugstore and buying myself another lip liner. "I sit at my little desk at home and can spend hours putting my make-up on, it's something I've always loved to do. "It's not that I don't like trying new products, the innovation is amazing, but it's heart-breaking when you hit on a foundation or a mascara that you love - the golden chalice - only to find out a few years later that it has been discontinued."

Paramount+ with Showtime is no more: What is the name of the streaming service's new ad-free tier?
Paramount+ has long touted its association with Showtime as a selling point for its higher-priced premium tier. However, that is now changing, with the streaming service undergoing a rebrand and dropping the Paramount+ with Showtime tier, and instead simplifying its offerings to the ad-supported Paramount+ Essential, and the ad-free Paramount+ Premium. This isn't because of Showtime content being removed from the service. Rather, a sampling of Showtime's programming has been added to the ad-supported Paramount+ Essential tier, thus diluting the distinction between the two tiers. This is simply a branding change that does not affect the pricing of either the Essential or Premium tier, with Essential still costing $7.99 per month, and Premium still costing $12.99 per month. Furthermore, this change only affects internet streaming, with cable, satellite and live TV services retaining the Paramount+ with Showtime branding. Paramount+ with Showtime first launched in 2022 The streaming service first launched its Paramount+ with Showtime subscription tier in August 2022. The service intended to use the massive, acclaimed library of Showtime content to bolster the value of its higher-tier subscription bracket. In 2023, the streaming service had as many as four subscription tiers. There was Paramount+ Essential, Paramount+ Premium, Paramount+ Essential with Showtime, and Paramount+ Premium with Showtime. This subscription model was greatly simplified in June of that year, resulting in just two subscription tiers: Paramount+ Essential and Paramount+ with Showtime. With the further streamlining that's occurred in June 2025, Showtime content will be available for both the Essential and Premium tiers, although viewers will still need to subscribe to Paramount+ Premium for an ad-free experience and the complete Showtime library. Paramount+ began life as CBS All Access Paramount+ is the media conglomerate Paramount's answer to the streaming boom that was originally spearheaded by pioneers such as Netflix. But the service was originally CBS All Access, the first OTT streaming service launched by an established American broadcast network. CBS All Access would be rebranded as Paramount+ in 2021, in an era were OTT streaming was beginning to eclipse traditional cable and network television as the dominant form service used by viewers. Under this rebranding, Paramount+ has aggressively pursued the production of original exclusives such as MobLand, Tulsa King and Halo.

Second series of MobLand confirmed following ‘resounding success' of first instalment
MOBLAND has been commissioned for a second series its producers Paramount+ have confirmed. The gangster drama, set in London and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, stars Co. Louth native Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan, the head of an Irish organised crime family. His wife, family matriarch Maeve, is played by Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy stars as the family's fixer. MobLand has been commissioned for a second series (Pic: Paramount) All hell broke loose in the first series as gang warfare erupted on the streets of London between the Harrigans and the Stevensons before stretching to the Harrigan's country pile in the Cotswolds. The series aired on Paramount+ in March and April and left fans on a cliffhanger regarding the future of some of its best-loved characters. In a post on their social media accounts this week, Paramount+ confirmed a second series is on the cards. 'They may have won the battle, but will they win the war? Mobland will return for season two," they stated. 'Unfinished business never ends quietly," they added. The series was created by Belfast author and screenwriter Ronan Bennett, who is also an executive producer on the show. Bennett co-writes the show with The Ferryman playwright Jez Buterworth. Director Anthony Byrne, the Dubliner behind the likes of Say Nothing, Peaky Blinders and Love/Hate, directed four episodes of the first series, while Ritchie directed two. Paramount have confirmed that the first series 'scored 26 million viewers' for the channel. 'With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph – driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen,' Paramount CEO Chris McCarthy, said. 'We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK," he added. When's The ‘MobLand' Season 2 Release Date On Paramount Plus?
MobLand MobLand was the second-most successful series launch in Paramount Plus history, behind only Taylor Sheridan's Landman. As such, it is no great surprise that just weeks after the season 1 finale, MobLand has been renewed for season 2. The announcement was made among lavish praise for Guy Ritchie's crime series, which stars big names like Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Tom Hardy and Paddy Considine. Here's the statement from Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment: 'With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph – driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce and Helen.' 'We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK.' MobLand Paramount Plus has become an increasingly relevant streaming service with multiple big hits, many from Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan. But MobLand comes from crime lord whisperer Guy Ritchie, who has also crafted a similarly themed series for Netflix, The Gentlemen, which was a big hit over there and also renewed for season 2. The renewal news does not come with a firm release date for MobLand season 2, but there are many ways to at least estimate it with other productions. Paramount Plus wants regular releases, and there are a number of Taylor Sheridan shows it may want to keep pace with. So here are some seasonal gaps there: I'd love to compare this to the other streaming Guy Ritchie show, The Gentlemen, but we don't have that data yet. But with production started well after it released, the estimate is that there will be over two years in between seasons. MobLand is going to be on the high end of these, no question. It's a ten-episode season, for one, assuming season 2 has the same number as season 1. It also stars the highest-profile actors in an original series on the service between Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren, which could raise availability questions. Given all this, it's likely that we're talking about a potential April 2027 release date for MobLand, given that the renewal has only happened now and not before or during the airing of the season. Again, my guess would be longer, and this isn't going to be a Mayor of Kingstown or Lioness situation. I'd love to be wrong, but it will definitely be no earlier than 2027 that we see MobLand return.
