Three motorcyclists killed in Seremban expressway pile-up

SEREMBAN: Three motorcyclists were killed and 12 others injured in a massive pile-up involving 15 motorcycles, a car, and a lorry on the North-South Expressway early this morning. The accident occurred at KM262.5 northbound near Seremban around 2.30 am. Initial police investigations revealed that the crash began when three motorcycles at the front of a convoy collided, causing a chain reaction. 'Twelve motorcycles behind them were unable to avoid the fallen riders, leading to multiple collisions,' said Seremban district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din. The impact also involved a car and a lorry, which were struck by some of the motorcycles. Three victims, aged between 18 and 20, died at the scene due to severe injuries. Twelve others were rushed to Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar, with two in critical condition in the ICU. Mohamad Hatta confirmed that the bodies were sent to Hospital Rembau for post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Authorities have urged motorcyclists to ride cautiously and avoid reckless maneuvers. Witnesses or those with information are asked to contact investigating officer Insp Tiew Chuan Jie at 014-9668399 or the nearest police station. - Bernama

Man filmed driving against traffic suffered from mental health issues, say cops

SEREMBAN: The driver of a car caught driving against traffic near here has been found to be suffering from mental health problems. Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said police detained the 57-year-old man in Banting, Selangor, after the 25-second clip went viral on Monday (July 21). "A team was formed to track down the driver after we came across the clip showing a car being driven against traffic along Jalan Tuanku Antah on Monday night. "A background check on the driver revealed that he had mental health issues and had received treatment for it," he said in a statement. ACP Mohamad Hatta said the man's wife had also lodged a report confirming this. He said the man had a valid driving license and the car had road tax and insurance coverage. The driver had, however, previously been issued a traffic summons under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for failing to adhere to traffic rules.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — Police said two children shown in a viral video walking by the roadside in Seremban were not abandoned, but had slipped out of their home without their parents realising. The children left their home while their father was asleep and their mother at work, according to initial investigations. The case came to light after a video showing the pair near Section 2, Garden Avenue, began circulating online. Concerned residents quickly alerted the police, who responded promptly to the scene. Officers took the children to Seremban 2 police station for identity verification and protection. 'Following a physical examination by the police of the children concerned, no injuries or any suspicious signs were found,' district police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said in a statement. The authorities later confirmed that the children and their parents are Myanmar citizens. Police managed to trace the parents and safely reunited them with their children. Mohamad Hatta also said the children had wandered off without any ill intent. He then urged parents to secure their homes and avoid leaving small children unattended.
