Rangers transfer news as Mohamed Diomande bid 'rejected' and Xavier Mbuyamba price named
The resolve of the Ibrox chiefs is being tested amid rising interest in the midfielder Besiktas have reportedly seen a bid for Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande rejected by the club. But the Turkish giants don't appear to have given up hope of landing the 23-year-old this summer. The Ivory Coast international was an ever-present form the Light Blues' last season as he cored six goals in 54 matches for the club and is said to be attracting interest from Besiktas and David Moyes at Everton this summer. Diomande initially arrived at Ibrox in January 2024 in a loan deal that included an obligation to buy, with Rangers paying Nordsjaelland £4million for his services six months later. And Rangers' new owners 49ers Enterprises could look to turn a profit on the midfielder with Aspor reporting the Scottish Premiership side have rejected a €7.5m (£6.4million) offer from the Istanbul side. The Black Eagles are "expected to come in with an improved offer for the player" with talks said to be ongoing. Besiktas are hopeful they can finalise a deal "shortly." While the likes of Diomande and Hamza Igamane are attracting big-money interest this summer, John Souttar is also attracting interest after entering the final year of his contract. Trabzonspor are seriously interested in signing him this summer. Record Sport understands the Turkish outfit are preparing to weigh in with a £850,000 bid and a serious upgrade on his current Gers contract, which expires in 12 months' time. But Fotomac report that the Turkish side are in no rush to seal a deal - which could be good news for Russell Martin with the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos just around the corner. It is claimed that the club see a deal as "difficult' with the Premiership side keen to keep the Scotland international and a transfer is "not a priority" at this stage of the window. Rangers are also reportedly eyeing up a move for former Chelsea defender Xavier Mbuyamba - who could act as a successor for Souttar should he leave Glasgow. Elf Voetbal claim that the Ibrox side could land the 23-year-old for as little as £850k should they make their move.
