Qatar expresses concern on developments in southern Syria, calls for accountability
QNA Doha Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi has affirmed that Qatar is following with deep concern the developments in the city of As-Suwayda in southern Syria, out of the firm belief that Syria's security is an integral part of the region's stability. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Al Khulaifi called for all necessary measures to ensure such crimes are not repeated, including holding accountable all parties responsible for the shedding of civilian blood and the terrorising of innocent, unarmed individuals, especially children, women, and the elderly, and ensuring that those who committed these heinous crimes do not escape punishment. He emphasised the importance of intensifying efforts to strengthen civil peace through dialogue and peaceful means. He expressed Qatar's condemnation of the Israeli attacks on the city of As-Suwayda, describing them as blatant violations of Syria's sovereignty, international law, and the United Nations Charter, and a serious threat to regional security. Dr Al Khulaifi also reaffirmed Qatar's full support for Syria's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and the aspirations of its people for a dignified life.

President of Venezuela receives Khulaifi
CARACAS: President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela HE Nicolas Maduro has received in Caracas Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi. During the meeting, they reviewed relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments, particularly in Latin America, the Gaza Strip, and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the joint Qatari mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. They also discussed a number of topics of common interest. During the meeting, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar's keenness to strengthen its partnership with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in all fields, stressing the need to intensify joint efforts to consolidate stability in the Latin American region.

Khulaifi, US senators discuss regional developments
QNA Washington Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi met with Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Jim Risch, along with a number Senators, in Washington. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the close strategic relations between Qatar and the US, ways to support and strengthen them, and the joint efforts that resulted in reaching a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel. The latest developments in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon, and Syria were also discussed. The Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States of America Allison Hooker on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the peace agreement between the Republic of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). During the meeting, they reviewed the close strategic relations between Qatar and the US, ways to support and strengthen them, and the joint efforts that resulted in the peace agreement between Rwanda and the DRC, and the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon, and Syria, in addition to a host of topics of mutual interest. During the meeting, the US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs expressed her country's appreciation for the role played by Qatar in mediation and conflict resolution, and its continuous efforts to support regional and international stability through peaceful and diplomatic means.

Qatar takes part in Rwanda-DRC peace deal signing ceremony
QNA Washin1gton Qatar participated in the signing ceremony of the Peace Agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which took place in Washington on Saturday. The peace deal was facilitated by the United States of America. Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi represented Qatar at the signing ceremony. In a statement to QNA on this occasion, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's welcome of the conclusion of this Agreement, as well as its commendation of the sincere will and genuine commitment demonstrated by both parties to the approach of peaceful and diplomatic solutions. He also expressed Qatar's pride in contributing positively to facilitating the achievement of this agreement through hosting several negotiation sessions between the two parties, as a result of Doha's hosting of the trilateral meeting between the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Rwanda Paul Kagame and President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Felix Tshisekedi on March 18, 2025, which constituted a significant milestone for direct dialogue and confidence-building between the two sides. Dr. Khulaifi commended the constructive role played by the United States of America in completing these efforts and reaching this significant agreement, which is expected to enhance security and stability in the Great Lakes region. He affirmed that these efforts are in support of the African Union's mediation and the outcomes of the Joint Summit of the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community, which was held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Feb 8, 2025.
