Toddler dies of suspected abuse in Kuala Lumpur, adoptive parents remanded
KUALA LUMPUR: A man and his wife, arrested yesterday on suspicion of abusing a two-year-old girl to death, are on remand for seven days from today until Friday. Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafis Muhammad Nor said the couple, who are the child's adoptive parents, are remanded for investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. 'The investigation is still ongoing and the public is asked not to make any speculation that could interfere with the investigation,' he said when contacted today. It was reported yesterday that the child died with bruises, swelling, and cuts on her body. Police received a report on the child's death from a medical officer at Sungai Buloh Hospital at 12.45 am. A couple, aged 27 and 28, who are her adoptive parents, had brought the child, who was in an unconscious state, to the hospital. - Bernama

SUNGAI BULOH: A two-year-old girl has died with severe injuries, including bruises, swelling, and cuts, in a suspected case of abuse in Paya Jaras. The toddler was brought unconscious to Sungai Buloh Hospital by her adoptive parents, a couple aged 27 and 28. Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafis Muhammad Nor confirmed that authorities received a report from the hospital at 12.45 am. The medical officer noted dried blood stains around the child's mouth and nose, along with extensive injuries. Police arrested the couple, who have no prior criminal records, to assist in investigations. A remand application will be filed at the Shah Alam Court to allow further questioning. The case is being probed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. The child's body has been sent for a post-mortem at Sungai Buloh Hospital's Forensic Department. KUALA LUMPUR: A two-year-old girl has died with bruises, swelling, and cuts on her body, believed to be the victim of abuse, in Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh on Thursday. Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Mohd Hafis Muhammad Nor said police received a report on the child's death from a medical officer at Sungai Buloh Hospital at 12.45am. He said the toddler was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by a couple, aged 27 and 28, who were also her adoptive parents. "The attending doctor reported receiving an unconscious child brought in by the couple. "Checks revealed bruises, swelling, and injuries all over the body, along with dried blood stains around the mouth and nose," he said in a statement last night. Mohd Hafis said that following the report, a team from the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Division arrested the couple to assist in the investigation. "Initial checks found that both suspects had no prior criminal records. "A remand application will be submitted at the Shah Alam court tomorrow (today) to facilitate further investigation," he said. He said the child's body has been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
