Johor schools target 30 tons of glass bottles in SWM recycling campaign

JOHOR BAHRU: SWM Environment Sdn Bhd and Yayasan Johor Corporation have launched the Cabaran Kaca Pun Boleh recycling campaign, targeting 30 tonnes of glass bottles from 60 primary schools in Johor. The initiative, running from this month until November, seeks to promote environmental awareness and sustainable waste management. Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin, corporate general manager of SWM Environment, said the campaign highlights the benefits of glass recycling while encouraging community participation. 'We've introduced the Creative Glass Bottle Recycling Video Competition and the STEM Innovation Challenge to engage teachers, students, parents, and the public,' he said. The programme builds on existing efforts like the KITARecycle Glass Bottles campaign and Glass Bottle Recycling Corner.

SWM Environment Recycling Campaign Targets 30 Tons Of Glass Bottles Via 60 Johor Schools

JOHOR BAHRU, July 17 (Bernama) -- SWM Environment Sdn Bhd and Yayasan Johor Corporation aim to collect 30 tonnes of glass bottles through 60 primary schools in Johor under the Cabaran Kaca Pun Boleh recycling campaign, which runs from this month until November. SWM Environment corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the campaign is meant to raise awareness of the environmental benefits of glass bottle recycling, sustainable waste management and biodiversity conservation. 'As part of the initiative, we've introduced the Creative Glass Bottle Recycling Video Competition and the STEM Innovation Challenge to boost participation among teachers, students, parents and the wider community.

MERSING: A total of 420 kilogrammes (kg) of waste was successfully cleaned up along with 170 kg of recyclables through the 'YOK! Bersih Pantai' programme in conjunction with the World Environment Day celebration at Pantai Penyabong here, yesterday. SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM Environment) corporate general manager Mohd Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) initiative through the company involved 120 volunteers comprising staff of strategic partners and school students. He said it reflected the company's commitment in educating and fostering environmental cleanliness practices and environmental sustainability, especially in public areas and natural ecosystems. 'Penyabong Beach was chosen due to the tourism factor which needs to be clean and ready all the time to receive tourists, especially ahead of the Visit Johor Year 2026,' he said in a statement today. This programme is also an extension of efforts to make the Johor Clean City Strategic Plan a success which was launched by the Johor Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) for Mersing district level last month. Mohd Norlisam said the programme also received the cooperation of Mersing District Council (MDM) and saw 40 volunteers made up of students and teachers from SK Penyabong which is the Mersing district level sustainability showcase school.
