Rita Ora admits she 'still feels Liam Payne' months after star's tragic death

Rita Ora said she keeps Liam Payne's memory alive through music - especially their song For You - as she described the late singer as 'a really great friend' of hers Rita Ora has said she "still feels" Liam Payne nine months after the One Direction star tragically died in Argentina. The 34-year-old singer said Liam was "a really great friend" of hers, and added she now always sings their song For You "all the time" which helps her keep his memory alive. Rita addressed her friendship with the late singer during an appearance on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. ‌ In her interview, she was asked whether she will watch Building the Band, a new Netflix show - Liam's final project - which wrapped filming shortly before he passed away. The first four episodes premiered on Netflix on July 9, with three more episodes due to drop next week. ‌ The final three episodes will hit the streamer on July 23. Elvis, hosting the iHeart Radio show, asked Rita if she is planning to watch the show, to which she replied: "I 100% will watch it." She then shared some details on her friendship with Liam, saying: "That's a really great friend of mine. I still sort of feel him anyway, so it's fine." She then added: "I have the last song that I think we did together as a duo and I sing it all the time. And it just feels like he's just right there. And we always do a cute little moment of a photo of him and it feels fantastic to just feel like he's still around through music." ‌ Rita said: "That's why music is so powerful. It really does bring back a person, a memory, a feeling." She continued: "So yeah, I have this incredible memory with him, with For You, our song together, and I'll always have that." One month after Liam's death, Rita hosted the MTV EMA and paid a special tribute to her friend. Fighting back tears, she emotionally said to the cameras: "I just want to take a moment to remember someone that was very, very dear to us. ‌ "We lost him recently, and he was a big part of the MTV world and my world, and I think a lot of yours at home and everybody in here tonight. Liam Payne was one of the kindest people that I knew. "And, you know, there were so many ways that we were talking about honouring him, and I think sometimes just simply speaking is enough." Dressed in a dark suit, in a poignant moment that contrasted the rest of the upbeat night, Rita continued: "He had the biggest heart, he was always the first person to offer help in any way that he could. He put so much joy into every room he walked in. And he left such a mark on this world. So let's just take a moment to remember our friend." Prior to Rita hosting the EMAs, a source told The Sun that the British singer would want to be involved in MTV's plans to commemorate Liam on the show. Touching on their friendship, they said: "She and Liam have been close for years and grew in the industry together. Obviously, she is devastated by his passing."

Bill Daly indicates long-term assistance with decentralized NHL Draft format

Bill Daly (via Getty Images) NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly has said the decentralized draft format, implemented in 2024, remains popular among franchises, perhaps indicating a change to the way the league approaches one of its premium events forever. While fans and the media have long been linked with the NHL Draft as a consolidated, electrically charged arena, that convention may now be an artifact of the league's history. Franchises urge convenience and concentration as decentralized NHL Draft gathers steam During an interview on The FAN Morning Show with Daniele Franceschi and Zack Bodenstein, Bill Daly provided frank observations regarding how NHL clubs are assessing the latest change to draft arrangements. This year, for the first time, general managers, scouts, and operations personnel stayed behind in their home cities while the broadcast was based in Los Angeles. The league, which was the only one of its kind to require in-person drafts, now seems set to join the NFL and NBA's time-honored virtual tradition. "What I will say is we continue to see support for a decentralized draft (from the clubs)," Daly said, reiterating that the switch has been club-led, not imposed by the league. "A lot of the issues seem to be having efficient access to your hockey operations personnel in kind of a quiet, businesslike setting. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Forgotten Benefits Most Retirees With Property Will Never Claim Senior Savers Read More Undo I think our clubs take the draft very, very seriously, as they should. It goes to kind of define the future of the franchise, making good decisions and the right decisions from a team standpoint in a draft context. Given how crowded the end of our season has become with all the obligations clubs, managers, and players have toward the very end of the season leading up to free agency, I think the efficiency of not having to travel to a central location is something that's very appealing to a number of our clubs. We'll gather that information (from polling), we'll process it and we'll make decisions with respect to what next year looks like. I guess what I'll leave you with is a lot of the reasons for going to the decentralized draft have been reasserted in the context of polling (from) what we saw two weeks ago." NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly on USHL Development The deputy commissioner further stated that a poll conducted internally by the league revealed "overwhelming" franchise support for maintaining the decentralized approach in 2025 and possibly beyond. That straw poll, as Bill Daly disclosed, surprised even league executives with how decisively it favored the new method. "When we initially made the decision and announcement we were going to a decentralized draft, a lot of people felt that was the league's initiative. Quite frankly, to the contrary, it was at the clubs' initiative," he said. "We heard from a number of clubs and we took a vote, a straw poll on the issue, and I'll tell you the commissioner and I were actually very surprised at the results of that straw poll. It was overwhelmingly in favour of a decentralized draft." Instead, a more concentrated, streamlined model has appeared—one that accommodates the changing realities of the league schedule and the business of hockey. Jennifer Aniston and hypnotist love interest Jim Curtis seen getting cozy in Big Sur a month before Mallorca vacation

Jennifer Aniston and Jim Curtis got cozy in California weeks before their Spain getaway. A Page Six spy spotted the actress, 56, and the hypnotist at the Ventana Big Sur luxury hotel last month. The 'Friends' alum cuddled up to her rumored new beau while dining at the resort's restaurant in June. Aniston's rep has yet to respond to Page Six's request for comment. This weekend, the pair spent more time together in Mallorca with the 'Morning Show' star's pal Jason Bateman and his wife, Amanda Anka. While Curtis' relationship history is not known, Aniston was previously married to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. Aniston introduced Curtis to her friends in photos obtained by the Daily Mail, and the foursome partied on a yacht later that evening. The Emmy winner, notably, is one of the self-proclaimed coach's half a million followers on Instagram, and she regularly 'likes' his uploads. The 'Cake' star also featured Curtis' book 'Shift Quantum Manifestation Guide: A Workbook for Coding a New Consciousness' in a May slideshow. The Golden Globe winner has remained amicable with her exes, famously hugging Pitt, 61, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2020. She and Theroux, 53, even text and FaceTime each other, the 'Leftovers' alum told Esquire in 2021. 'We don't talk every day,' the filmmaker, who recently wed actress Nicole Brydon Bloom, clarified at the time. 'It would be a loss if we weren't in contact, for me personally. And I'd like to think the same for her.' The exes were photographed reuniting for dinner in 2023 — and Theroux has publicly supported Aniston on multiple occasions over the years, from her fertility struggles reveal to her heated back-and-forth with JD Vance over 'childless cat ladies.' Since their split, Aniston has not gone public with any romances until Curtis. While she did send tongues wagging in March for going out to eat with Pedro Pascal, a source insisted to Page Six that their bond is 'strictly platonic.' Photos initially obtained by the Daily Mail and now circulating over social media, show Aniston, 56, and Curtis, dressed casually for the occasion, as they mingled with their friends. The actress was seen wearing a black tank top, jeans, sneakers, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses, while Curtis opted for a green long-sleeved shirt, dark shorts, and sneakers.
