This phone is under £300 and has a bigger battery than any flagship
If you're eyeing up a new smartphone, the £1000 price that the latest handsets typically come with is somewhat off-putting. That's where mid-range or budget phones come in. But typically, they sacrifice some features to get that lower price – and battery is usually a big culprit. But this sub-£300 Motorola phone has a bigger battery than any flagship you can buy. The new Moto G86 Power flexes a battery so chunky it makes most flagships look like glorified desk toys. We're talking a 6720mAh cell under the hood – that's 53 hours of potential screen time. Read more: Best cheap phones in 2025 reviewed and rated This isn't just a big battery slapped onto a plastic shell either. Motorola's managed to wrap this battery brute in a genuinely slick package. It offers a Super HD pOLED display, HDR10+, and a pretty impressive 4500 nits of brightness. The phone's built to last, with IP68/IP69 water resistance, so you can drop it, dunk it, or drag it through dust and it won't bite the dust. Powering all this is MediaTek's Dimensity 7300 chip, paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage. It's not the latest processor, but it should be able to handle any app you throw at it. The camera system's no slouch either – you get a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor, AI tuning, and a wide-angle/macro combo on the side. A 32MP selfie cam is thrown in for good measure. The audio game should be solid, with Dolby Atmos pumping through stereo speakers. If you're not fussed about a big battery and want slightly more conventional experience, the Moto G86 5G might be more your speed. You're still getting the premium bits – the gorgeous 6.7' Super HD pOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, the same LYTIA 600 camera, and solid durability ratings – but the battery drops down to 5200mAh. Still plenty for a day and a bit, but you'll need to plug in soon after. For those who fancy something even more accessible, the Moto G56 5G is surprisingly well-kitted for the price. It offers a slightly larger 6.72' screen (not pOLED, mind you), a sturdy frame with all the same water and drop resistance, and still a 5200mAh battery. It even throws in a business edition for enterprise folks, with three years of updates and Bass Boost. In the UK, the Moto G86 Power will set you back £300, the regular Moto G86 5G lands at £280, the Moto G56 5G goes for £200, and the business edition priced at £220. US pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed. You'll be able to get your hands on all the models soon from Amazon, EE, Curry's, and Motorola. The business edition is exclusive to Motorola.

The Moto G86 5G might be Motorola's most insane Android mid-ranger in a long time; here's why
If you thought the Moto G56 5G leaked in full just yesterday was a remarkably well-balanced mid-range smartphone with a strong potential to attract a large global audience at a low enough price, wait until you see what another presumably affordable Motorola device is set to bring to the table soon. I'm not going to spoil the Moto G86's biggest strength and key selling point just yet, instead letting you discover it for yourself in the below spec sheet (revealed by none other than Evan Blass on X) and have your mind completely blown by the prospect of a budget 5G phone like very few Android mid-rangers out there today. 6.67-inch P-OLED display with 2712 x 1220 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate technology, and up to 4500 nits brightness; MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor; 8 and 12GB RAM options; 128 and 256GB storage variants; Android 15 ; ; Two guaranteed OS upgrades and four years of security patches; 50MP primary Sony Lytia 600 rear-facing camera with Quad Pixel technology and OIS; 8MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture; 32MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and Quad Pixel technology; 5,200mAh and 6,720mAh battery options; IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance; MIL-STD-810H durability; 161.21 x 74.74 x 7.87mm dimensions (5,200mAh battery variant); 161.21 x 74.74 x 8.65mm dimensions (6,720mAh battery model); 185 grams weight (5,200mAh battery option); 198 grams weight (6,720mAh battery option); 33W charging support; Dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos; Pantone Spellbound, Pantone Chrysanthemum, Pantone Cosmic Sky, Pantone Golden Cypress colors; On-screen fingerprint reader; Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC. Have you been able to spot it? Yes, it appears that one Moto G86 5G variant will come packing a gargantuan 6,720mAh battery... somehow. How insanely large is that number? Well, let's see. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is probably the best Android phone you can buy today, comes with a comparatively humble 5,000mAh cell capacity. And an extra 20 grams in weight compared to this bonkers G86 model. The Moto G56 5G, meanwhile, is expected to pack a 5,200mAh battery, and yes, that number initially sounded pretty impressive too. Then you've got 2024's Moto G85, which was released in a single version with a 5,000mAh ticker under the hood, and a slew of other Motorola mid-rangers from the last few years that have circled that mark without being able to break the psychological barrier. The Edge 60 Pro did manage to go up to 6,000mAh just a couple of weeks ago, but obviously, 6,720mAh is even better, especially when it's combined with a relatively frugal Dimensity 7300 SoC and a "Super HD" display. The 6.67-inch screen, mind you, also appears to bring a huge upgrade in brightness over the G85's own 6.67-inch panel, while the rest of the G86's specifications are considerably less astounding. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea at this moment, but if I were to venture a guess, I'd assume the two models will not be released in the same regions. That being said, I sure hope the device with the much larger battery on deck will not limit its availability to China, as is sometimes the case with the most advanced Android phones from a number of different brands. The Moto G85 5G is only available in one 5,000mAh battery-packing variant around the world. | Image Credit -- Motorola Granted, even the 5,200mAh cell-packing Moto G86 sounds like a pretty strong candidate for the title of best mid-range phone in 2025 with a significantly more robust construction than its predecessor, four fancy-sounding and undoubtedly snazzy-looking colorways, a sub-8mm waist, reasonably fast charging, and excellent cameras. With the Moto G85 5G regularly priced at €379 in Europe with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage space, there's definitely a chance the G86 will be similarly affordable, but not in the US, where I don't expect to see the phone ever released in any official capacity.

Moto G56 5G could be Motorola's next budget smartphone: What to expect
Expected to be a budget smartphone, the Moto G56 5G would sport a 6.72-inch fullHD+ LCD screen of 120Hz refresh rate New Delhi Motorola will reportedly soon unveil the successor to last year's Moto G55 5G. A new report about the upcoming Moto G56 5G has surfaced online in which the full specifications of the handset have been revealed. According to a report by 91Mobiles, X user Evan Blass has shared the specification sheet of Moto G56 5G on his profile. It is likely to be codenamed 'Bogota' for reference purposes within the Lenovo-owned company. Here is what consumers can expect from the Moto G56 5G. Moto G56 5G: What to expect As per the report, the Moto G56 5G is expected to sport a 6.72-inch LCD screen with FHD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) along with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1000 nits. The screen is likely to feature a Gorilla Glass 7i protection. It might be powered by an unreleased 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chip with two Cortex A78 performance cores running at 2.6GHz clock speed, six Cortex A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2GHz, and an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. This is a slightly faster chip than the Dimensity 7025 inside the precursor. It is expected to be paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Moto G56 5G might reportedly feature a dual-camera setup with the 50MP Sony LYT-600 lens leading the charge and an 8MP ultra-wide lens complementing it. As for the selfie camera, it is likely to be a 32MP lens. As per 91Mobiles, it is likely to boot on Android 15-based Hello UI. It is expected to ship with a 5200mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The base variant is expected to come with a promise of one OS upgrade and three years of security updates. The high-end model might come with a promise for up to two years of OS upgrades and four years of security patches. It is expected to be priced at 250 euros for the 8+256GB variant. Notably, its predecessor did not arrive in India so it is likely that this model won't be debuting in the Indian market either. Moto G56 5G: Expected specifications Display: Features a 6.72-inch LCD panel, FHD+ resolution (2400×1080), 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1000 nits peak brightness, IP69 rating, Gorilla Glass 7i protection Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chip RAM: Up to 8GB LPDDR4x Storage: Up to 256GB UFS 2.2 Rear camera: 50MP (primary) + 8MP (ultra-wide) Front camera: 32MP OS: Android 15-based Hello UI Battery: 5200mAh, 33W fast charging Connectivity: USB-C port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC in select regions. Motorola's big-battery Moto G56 5G mid-ranger leaks in full ahead of a likely summer launch
After unveiling not two but three different 2025 Razr foldables with high-end (or at least high-end-ish) specifications and a grand total of four new eye-catching Edge handsets (including a surprising stylus-wielding model), Motorola is likely to turn its attention back to what it arguably does best, preparing several new additions to the mid-range Moto G line. 6.72-inch LCD screen with 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate technology; Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection; MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor; 4 and 8GB RAM options; 128 and 256GB storage variants; microSD card slot for up to 2TB external expansion; Android 15 ; ; 50MP primary rear-facing camera with Sony Lytia 600 sensor and Quad Pixel technology; 8MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture; 32MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and Quad Pixel technology; 5,200mAh battery; 33W charging support; Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos; IP68 and IP69 certifications; MIL-STD-810H durability; 165.75 x 76.26 x 8.35mm dimensions; 200 grams weight; Pantone Black Oyster, Pantone Gray Mist, Pantone Dazzling Blue, and Pantone Dill color options. The Moto G55 will be improved in a number of very important ways. | Image Credit -- Motorola At the same time, of course, this model has to improve on last year's Moto G55 while also towering over the G45 and presumably impending G46. All in all, the specs and features listed above seem to meet those conditions, and most likely, your expectations, with a small but notable battery capacity upgrade, an interesting selfie camera improvement, and a predictable processor change prepared in comparison with the aforementioned G55 5G. The Moto G56 5G will also be considerably larger than its predecessor, both in terms of screen size and overall dimensions, and perhaps most impressively, its durability will be vastly improved as well, with IP68, IP69, and MIL-STD-810H certifications guaranteeing top-notch water, dust, and even drop resistance. Unfortunately, that also means the weight will grow to no less than 200 grams, although for what it's worth, Motorola plans to balance out the style equation with a number of very interesting-sounding paint jobs. That, my friends, is the million-dollar question Evan Blass can't (or won't) answer for the time being. And while I obviously cannot offer you any guarantees or firm predictions either, it feels relatively safe to assume that the Moto G56 5G will see daylight sometime this summer after the same thing happened with the Moto G55 5G back in August 2024. If you're waiting for this new Android mid-ranger to be released in markets like the US, that's... probably not going to happen, while in Europe, I expect the G56 to cost around €250 in the only configuration you should consider buying. I'm talking about the one with 256 gigs of internal storage space and 8GB RAM, which will apparently receive two major OS updates and security patches for four years. The entry-level 128GB/4GB variant, meanwhile, is only guaranteed to score an Android 16 promotion and three years of security updates, which makes it a not-very-smart buy regardless of its price point. In addition to the Moto G56 5G (codename "Bogota"), Motorola is reportedly working on G86 and G96 models as well, the latter of which is entirely shrouded in secrecy. And in case you're wondering, no, that device has no G95 predecessor, so I'm definitely curious to see what it will bring to the table.
