RANAU: Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia Vanu Gopala Menon visited Kundasang on Tuesday to mark the 10th anniversary of the 2015 Ranau earthquake. During his visit, he met members of the Mount Kinabalu Guide Association and presented 30 pairs of shoes as a gesture of appreciation for their role in the rescue efforts. Vanu said the visit was to honour the bravery of the mountain guides who helped climbers and recovered the bodies of those who died, including Singaporeans. He recalled how Singapore hosted a reception in 2016 to thank the guides and noted that they had remained in touch over the years. Vanu also expressed appreciation to the Malaysian and Sabah governments for their support, saying the two countries have always stood by each other in times of need. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
