Jose Mourinho falls out with Jhon Duran on FIRST DAY as ex-Aston Villa star warned of 'consequences'
Jhon Duran has only been at Fenerbahce for two weeks following his arrival on loan from Al-Nassr but is already in Jose Mourinho's bad books after being called "disrespectful" over his no-show at training Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has fallen out with Jose Mourinho already, just weeks after signing for Fenerbahce, after failing to turn up for the start of pre-season training. Duran has linked up with Mourinho's men on loan from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr after deciding to cut short his time in the Middle East. The 21-year-old was only with Al-Nassr for six months after netting 12 goals in 18 appearances before it emerged he was set to leave Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. His switch to Fenerbache on loan came as a surprise but he jumped at the chance to work with two-time Champions League winner Mourinho, who is about to begin a second campaign in charge of the Super Lig side. But it seems he has not made a good impression with the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss, who said the striker showed a lack of respect with absence and warned he would be punished. "It's disrespectful," Mourinho said. "There are clear rules here, and anyone who doesn't follow them will face consequences. We'll talk to him when he shows up, if he does." Turkish reports have claimed Duran will report for training in the coming days as Fenerbahce gear up for the start of pre-season. They play their first game of the summer on Thursday when they take on Portuguese outfit Portimonense. It looks unlikely Duran will feature in the game and he will have to work quickly to get on the right side of the legendary manager. Mourinho has shown in the past he has no trouble falling out with players if they rub him up the wrong way. He previously clashed with Paul Pogba over a training ground dispute at Manchester United and famously bickered with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid, criticising his work rate and effort. He was similarly critical of Eden Hazard at times during his second stint at Chelsea and was left unimpressed with his refusal to track back.

'My family told me to quit Man Utd immediately due to manager change - I'm glad I didn't'
A former Manchester United player has revealed how he stayed at the club despite family concerns over a managerial change and why the decision left him feeling proud Former Manchester United star Juan Mata has revealed how his family urged him to quit the club after Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager. The Spaniard joined United from Chelsea in January 2014 for a then-club record fee of £37.1million. The midfielder enjoyed two successful seasons at Stamford Bridge before his departure, winning the Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League. However, he later fell out of favour at Chelsea under Mourinho's stewardship and signed for United in pursuit of more playing time. Mata soon became a popular figure at Old Trafford under David Moyes, but the man who brought him there was sacked just a few months later. He played under several managers during his seven-and-a-half year spell with the Red Devils, including Dutchman Louis Van Gaal and club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But it was the arrival of Mata's former Chelsea boss Mourinho in May 2016 which left his family worried. He has now opened up on how his grandad encouraged him to leave United amid fears the Portuguese coach would freeze him out again. Mata ultimately chose to ignore the advice and stay to fight for his place in the team. He went on to make 285 appearances for the club and has told former United goalkeeper Ben Foster that he feels pride over deciding to stick to his guns after Mourinho joined. Speaking on the Fozcast podcast, he said: "The first call that I received was from my family and from my granddad saying, 'You have to leave. What's going to happen?' And I said, 'No, I'm going to see how it goes. I don't have any problem with him, and he doesn't have any problems with me.' "It is one of the things that I'm most proud of in my career is to have remained, to be calm and say, 'No, I'm going to try to show that I can play in his style.' And I did so. Our relationship was very natural. Actually, we have a good relationship. "I played games and we won things together. I played in all the finals, so I felt like an important player in his squad. My family told me, 'Okay, you were right,' but they were panicking a little bit." Mata left United in June 2022 and went on to join Turkish Super Lig team Galatasaray as a free agent later that year. He also had a brief spell with Japanese side Vissel Kobe in 2023, but only made one appearance for the club. He currently plays for Australian outfit Western Sydney Wanderers, who he signed for in September last year. Mata said he was enjoying his time Down Under after praising both the quality of living in Sydney and the growth of the A-League. "It's amazing and the lifestyle is incredible," he said. "The city has everything. It's like being in five different cities in one, because you have the CBD (central business district), and all the big buildings. Then you have a nice beach five minutes away. "The league is growing and football, or soccer as they call it, is coming back to where it used to be a couple of years ago. They suffered a lot with Covid in the sport, but they're coming back, and it's a great place to be." Marcus Rashford to be offered Man Utd escape route by his former manager
Marcus Rashford is set to be offered the chance to reunite with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce, but he is not thought to be keen on the idea. The England international's future continues to hang in the balance, with his time at Manchester United apparently at an end, but an exit proving difficult to secure. The 27-year-old is desperate to seal a move to Barcelona, but the Catalan giants do not seem quite as keen as he is on the deal. Barca wanted Nico Williams before he extended his contract at Athletic Bilbao and are also interested in Luis Diaz, but Liverpool do not want to sell. They may still turn to Rashford, but he is clearly not at the top of their shopping list as they look for a new forward this summer. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. Rashford does have other options and the latest is reportedly a reunion with former United manager Mourinho in Turkey. BeINSports report that Fenerbahce are ready to make a £35m bid for Rashford, which would be enough to do a deal with Manchester United for the forward. However, the report also states that Mourinho is likely to be disappointed as Rashford continues to prioritise a potential move to Barcelona for as long as it remains a possibility. The Turkish club has sent a representative to England to conduct talks with both Manchester United and Rashford, but a deal is unlikely at this stage. Mourinho is not the only Manchester United connection at Fenerbahce, with former Red Devils midfielders Fred and Sofyan Amrabat also in the club's ranks. Rashford has also rejected the chance to move to the Saudi Pro League, while there is believed to be interest in him from Bayern Munich and Juventus but neither club has made a move. While he remains in transfer limbo, the 62-cap England international is training at Manchester United, but not with the first team. More Trending Along with other transfer-listed players Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia, the training facilities have been made available to Rashford, but not when the senior squad are using them. Apps: 297Goals: 89 Assists: 42 The Manchester Evening News reported that Rashford and Garnacho were at the training ground together last Thursday. The first team squad had left by the time the pair were working together, with only the Under-10 team present as they trained. Similarly to Rashford, Garnacho is not interested in a move to Saudi Arabia, but is hoping to remain in the Premier League, with Chelsea interested in the Argentina international. Ex-Premier League star's bombshell doping allegation leads to furious response
Allan Saint-Maximin made stunning claims against Fenerbahce after spending the season on loan in Turkey from Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli and the Super Lig club reject his allegations Fenerbahce will exercise all of their legal rights in order to dismiss Allan Saint-Maximin's claim that the club attempted to dope him last season. The Frenchman suggested that when he fell ill during last season, the Turkish side's staff gave him 'treatment that's considered a doping product', which the club have denied. The 28-year-old former Newcastle winger spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli. Saint-Maximin recorded four goals and five assists in 31 games and found some controversy. Fenerbahce have claimed Saint-Maximin distored the facts surrounding his treatment while speaking on the Zack Nani podcast. And the club appear to be looking to quickly hit back at the France international via legal routes. Fenerbahce released a statement that read: "By distorting the facts regarding the medical treatment he received following a health issue, the player has attempted to mislead the public and damage the reputation of our club. "As Fenerbahçe Sports Club, we hereby inform the public that we will exercise all our legal rights against these misleading statements and any attempt to undermine our institutional reputation." Offering his thoughts on Fenerbahce's 2024/25 campaigh, Saint-Maximin highlighted the club's alleged desire to dope him. The ex-Nice ace said boss Jose Mourinho gave everything in a bid to topple Galatasaray, who won the league by nine points - but did not suggest his manager was involved in his accusation. Saint-Maximin said: " Jose Mourinho (Fenerbahce manager) gave everything to be champions. But unfortunately, there are an enormous number of things that happen, things around the club that are really complicated. "To give you an example for me, they went so far as to want to dope me, to say how serious it is. These are things that people don't know. You don't speak out because someone is threatening you behind your back. It goes beyond football." Following the fallout from his comments, Saint-Maximin added on social media: 'I see it's going viral on Twitter, so I'll clarify what I said. I was talking about these people around the club who are prepared to do anything. In my case, when I was ill, I was practically given a treatment that is considered to be a doping product. I don't know what the purpose of this team of doctors was." Earlier in the year, Saint-Maximin played out a public spat with Mourinho. The tricky winger entangled in a war of words with his boss after being left out of the squad to face Rangers. After the Frenchman criticised the decision, Mourinho hit back that his charge was unfit and overweight. Saint-Maximin rubbished the suggestion and ultimately found his way back into Mourinho's plans before ending the season injured.
