Cloudy and cool conditions are expected in parts of KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal will experience cooler temperatures and cloudy skies today. Despite the cloud cover, no rain is expected. Coastal cities like Durban will see overcast conditions for most of the day, with a high 23°C forecast. The cloudiness will stretch into Pietermaritzburg and other inland areas, although temperatures will remain mild. 'Conditions will be cloudy and cool, especially over Durban and coastal areas,' said weather forecaster Mpho Rasimphi. 'We're expecting a high of 23°C in Durban and 22°C.' Unlike the Eastern Cape, which may receive scattered rainfall, KwaZulu-Natal is not forecast to get significant rain today. However, overcast skies may persist through most of the afternoon. Gauteng to remain sunny and mild
Gauteng residents can expect sunny skies and mild temperatures as a high-pressure system continues to dominate the region's weather. Johannesburg will reach a maximum of 20°C. With no significant cold fronts forecasted, Gauteng will begin the week under relatively stable weather conditions. Clear skies are expected across most parts of the province, including Johannesburg and Pretoria, with overnight temperatures remaining mild for this time of year. 'It's going to be a clear and sunny day across Gauteng,' said Mpho Rasimphi, a weather forecaster. 'Johannesburg will be mild, with a high of 20°C.' The absence of rain or strong winds will offer ideal conditions for commuters and outdoor activity across the region. Although Gauteng remains clear, residents travelling to neighbouring regions such as the Northern Cape and parts of the Western Cape are advised to take caution. Conditions are expected to stay consistent into the next day, so Gauteng will likely enjoy a stable weather pattern for the immediate future. Warm weather blankets most of KwaZulu-Natal TODAY
KwaZulu-Natal residents can look forward to a warm weather day, particularly along the coast. The sun rose brightly this morning, casting a beautiful golden hue over Pietermaritzburg and Richards Bay. With temperatures climbing to 24°C in Pietermaritzburg and 26°C in Richards Bay, the day promises outdoor-friendly conditions. The inland regions will be slightly cooler, especially over areas like Mooi River, where freezing morning temperatures kicked off the day. But the warm weather will settle in most of the province by midday. Winds that swept across the interior parts have now moved towards the KwaZulu-Natal coast. While they bring a fresh breeze to areas like Richards Bay, the winds are not strong enough to disrupt the pleasant day expected. Speaking this morning in the forecast, Mpho Rasimphi, a meteorologist at SABC , noted the day's standout conditions. 'It will be warm over most of KwaZulu-Natal today, especially over Richards Bay. We're expecting a beautiful sunrise,' said Rasimphi. Overall, residents can enjoy the day outdoors, with little to no weather-related disruptions expected. Cooler conditions set in as Gauteng experiences breezy conditions
Gauteng residents can expect a cool winter's day marked by clear skies and moderate winds. Pretoria, in particular, will feel the chill with temperatures reaching a maximum of 18°C. Areas across Gauteng will remain largely dry. Although sunshine is forecast, cool air and breezy conditions will persist throughout the day. Johannesburg and surrounding areas will feel the winter bite, but no rain is in the forecast. While sunshine dominates, winds are expected to pick up in some parts, especially over Pretoria. These fresh breezes may contribute to slightly lower 'feels-like' temperatures in open or elevated areas. The high-pressure influence continues to ensure minimal cloud cover and stable dry conditions. SABC meteorologist Mpho Rasimphi advised Gauteng residents to prepare for chilly but pleasant conditions. 'Although cool, some windy conditions are expected over Gauteng for today. It's still a beautiful day,' said Rasimphi. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Damaging coastal winds threaten parts of KwaZulu-Natal
The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 1 weather warning for damaging winds along KwaZulu-Natal's north coast, which will affect communities around Tugela, Richards Bay, and St Lucia. Mpho Rasimphi, a Meteorologist at the SABC , confirmed the alert, noting that coastal areas face potential disruption. 'Level 1 warning of some damaging winds as you move towards the coast of KwaZulu-Natal. We have a minimum to medium likelihood of this event happening, but it could cause some minor impact,' Rasimphi said. The winds are expected to affect activities at sea, informal housing structures, and community operations in coastal towns. The warning, which applies throughout Wednesday, 9 July, suggests difficulties in navigation at sea and potential damage to temporary structures. Fishermen and maritime transport operators have been urged to exercise caution. Rasimphi added, 'We expect some disruption to different activities over those areas, especially around Tuesday and the surrounding areas.'
