UPDATE: Death toll in the Lady Mo accident in Mbombela rises to three The death toll in the head-on collision that claimed the life of beloved Mbombela social media influencer Moses Sibiya, affectionately known as 'Lady Mo', has risen to three. The accident involved a Kia Picanto and a minibus taxi on the KaNyamazane Road near MRTT in Mbombela on Friday, July 4. Lowvelder previously published that Lady Mo was driving the Kia and was pronounced dead on the scene. However, the paper has since been reliably informed that he was among the five passengers of the Kia who were injured and taken to hospital. The taxi driver also sustained critical injuries, while the Kia's driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene. Lady Mo and another unidentified victim succumbed to their injuries in hospital. The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison's spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, confirmed the new information on Sunday, July 6. Footage of the tragic accident is circulating on social media. The video, which Lowvelder has opted not to publish due to its graphic nature, shows the Kia Picanto skidding into the oncoming lane before colliding head-on with the taxi. Everybody loved him especially when he sang at funerals. He had this rare talent of capturing everyone's attention, especially when given the platform to be the MC for funerals and other functions,' said one of Lady Mo's followers, Ntoko Nkambule, from Pienaar. Other tributes came all the way from the Kingdom of eSwatini, further confirming Sibiya's influential abilities. People from Mataffin near the Mbombela Stadium also hailed Lady Mo as a great man. Beloved Mbombelan influencer dies in head-on collision
Well-known social media influencer Moses 'Lady Mo' Sibiya has been identified as the person who died in an accident near the MRTT yesterday, July 4. The head-on collision involved a Kia Picanto and a minibus taxi. Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med responded to the scene. He told Lowvelder that five of the Kia's occupants were injured and were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital. However, the driver was declared dead on the scene. The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison's spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, confirmed Sibiya's death. He said the road had been closed for a few hours while emergency services attended to the scene, but that it had been reopened in the late afternoon. According to several Facebook followers, Sibiya touched many lives with his talent. He was getting bookings to be a programme director during functions, especially funerals. Lady Mo was also an upcoming musician with his latest song 'Dumi Dumi Dumi'.Mmusi said the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Four people killed in R38 road crash; bakkie occupants missing
Authorities said a sedan crashed with a bakkie, and the sedan was swung across the road where it further collided with a truck. Image: Supplied Four people lost their lives on Tuesday evening when a light delivery vehicle and a sedan collided head-on, on the R38 Road between Kaapmuide and Louws Creek in Mpumalanga. The sedan, after colliding with the bakkie, was swung across the road and subsequently collided with a truck. The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison said four victims died at the scene and they include the driver of the sedan, and three passengers. 'The occupants of the bakkie were reportedly not found at the scene,' said Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison. 'The cause of the crash is not clear at the moment but reckless and negligent driving cannot be ruled out at this stage. The investigation into the crash is already underway.' "While the government at all levels is putting programmes in place to make roads safer, it is the responsibility of every driver to obey the rules and use the road cautiously. Most of the crashes can be avoided if those who drive are highly alert at all times," Macie said. The MEC is sending condolences to the bereaved families.

One killed in R40 accident near Barberton Game Reserve
A driver died in an accident on the R40 near the Barberton Game Reserve on Monday, May accident involved a Volkswagen Polo and a stationary truck. The driver of the Polo died while being treated on the scene by Emer-G-Med paramedics. Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med said they received a call about the accident at around 16:20. Upon their arrival, they found both drivers still entrapped in the wreckage. 'They were severely injured and we removed them while treating them. Before we could transport him to the hospital a driver died. We were able to treat the truck driver before we transported him to Nelspruit Mediclinic for further medical treatment,' he said. The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security, and Liaison's spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, confirmed that the cause of the accident is unknown, pending investigation. He added a call on motorists to always drive with caution and obey the rules of the road.
