Kannappa box office Day 1: Vishnu Manchu's film outperforms Maa, F1 in India
Telugu devotional film, 'Kannappa', opened on a solid note at the domestic box office upon its release on June 27. The film has surpassed the Day 1 collection of Kajol's horror drama 'Maa', and Brad Pitt's 'F1' at the box office in India. 'Kannappa' is a film based on the legend of Kannappa, a staunch devotee of Lord to the tracking website, Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 9 crore nett at the domestic box office. While this isn't a huge number to start the theatrical run with, the film has been clocking in excellent occupancy in theatres. 'Kannappa' is expected to see an incline in numbers during the 'Maa' minted Rs 4.50 crore, half of what 'Kannappa' did on its first day at the box office. Brad Pitt's much-anticipated 'F1' collected Rs 5.25 crore in India. India Today reviewer, Sanjay Ponnappa, rated the film 2.5 out 5 stars and wrote, "Kannappa falters when it comes to direction, screenplay, and execution. Director Mukesh Kumar Singh, known for several mythological TV serials, brings the same melodramatic and slightly outdated touch to the film. The story and screenplay, written by Vishnu Manchu himself, add a fictional arc to the devotional tale we all know. Although the arc has interesting ideas, it suffers from poor execution in both writing and direction."Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, 'Kannappa' features an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggawarlal and Prabhas in cameo roles. The supporting roles include Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Madhoo, Mukesh Rishi and Raghu Babu.'Kannappa' is jointly produced by AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory.- EndsMust Watch

Kannappa Makers Warn Of Legal Action Against Defamation And Misuse Ahead Of Films Release
The makers of Kannappa have issued a legal warning against defamation and trolling ahead of the film's June 2025 release. New Delhi: Kannappa, an upcoming Telugu-language mythological action film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and starring Akshay Kumar, has landed in controversy following the release of its much-anticipated trailer. The film, based on the tale of devotion to Lord Shiva, has drawn criticism from certain quarters, with allegations that it "disrespects Brahmins." In response to the backlash, the film's producers have taken a strong stance, issuing a public notice warning of legal action against those who attempt to malign the film without justification. Also Read | Kannappa Vs MAA Box Office Clash: Akshay Kumar Sends Heartfelt Wishes To Ajay Devgn And Kajol Ahead Of Release Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the production house, released a 'Public Caution Notice', stating, "Our film #Kannappa releases globally on June 27, 2025 with full lawful clearances. Misuse, distortion, or defamatory acts against the film or its stakeholders will be legally challenged." In a more detailed statement, the producers emphasised the film's fair production credentials, noting it has received all necessary certifications, intellectual property protections, and legal clearances. Defining the project as a 'culmination of immense artistic dedication, untiring efforts, and substantial commercial investment,' the notice urged the public to view the film before forming opinions. 'We thereby respectfully request all critiques to watch the film first, appreciate its substance, understand the intent and comment on it with responsibility, rather than succumbing to premeditated biases or vendetta-fuelled commentary,' the notice read. While acknowledging the constitutional right to free speech under Article 19(1)(a), the makers cited legal precedents, including judgments from the Kerala High Court, to argue that defamatory or destructive commentary aimed at damaging the reputation of creative works is not protected speech. The producers also highlighted a recent ruling by the Delhi High Court, which granted protection to the 'personality and publicity rights of two key stakeholders and principal actors of Kannappa, namely, Dr. Mohan Babu and Mr. Vishnu Manchu'. Any unauthorised use or defamatory portrayal of their likeness or attributes, the notice warned, could invite legal consequences under both the court's directives and applicable laws. Citing past disturbances during the film's production, the statement also warned that any unauthorised streaming or distribution of the film, in part or full, would lead to legal proceedings in civil, criminal, or cyber law jurisdictions. Last Updated: Kannappa, which has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, also stars Akshay Kumar and Vishnu Manchu in key roles. One of the country's top editors, Antony Gonsalvez, who is also the editor of the pan-Indian magnum opus, 'Kannappa', has now disclosed that the run time of the devotional, historical film would be around two hours and 50 minutes. Talking to IANS on the sidelines of a pre-release event organised by the film's makers in Chennai on Monday, Anthony Gonsalvez said that the film's run time would be around 2 hours and 50 minutes but the film wouldn't appear long as the story would keep moving at a brisk pace. 'There are three tracks happening simultaneously in the film. The first one is about an atheist turning a believer and then a devotee. Then there is a romantic track that is happening. Scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on June 27, Kannappa has triggered huge expectations in fans and film buffs. The film, which has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, has Vishnu Manchu playing the titular role of Thinnadu(Kannappa), the fearless warrior-turned-devotee who transformed into the ultimate devotee of Lord Shiva. Akshay Kumar essays the role of Lord Shiva, while Mohanlal commands attention as Kirata. Prabhas sets the stage for an unforgettable cinematic experience with his role of Rudra. Talking about the film, Vishnu Manchu had, in a statement earlier, said, 'This film is incredibly close to my heart. It brings to life a historical tale that is often referred to as mythology. By Lord Shiva's blessings, everything has fallen into place, from the breathtaking locations to the incredible star cast." Director Mukesh Kumar Singh had said, ''Kannappa' is more than just a story; it is a tribute to faith, devotion, and the power of transformation.
