Dundalk Summer Series of Darts, Wk4: Ray and Davey at the double to win Ralph/Gore Family Cup
There were some great darts thrown on Friday night at the Ralph/Gore Family Cup, Week 4 of the Summer Series Of Darts in the Northend Bar With a great turnout of throwers for a Friday night, an unusual format was tried with the winner staying on after each game and their opponents only drawn out after each match was over. Hughie Shields, winner on Board 1 with Padraic O'Rourke, started the ball rolling with the 180s. Board 2 winners were Conor McArdle and Cian Roddy while Board 3 winners were Simon Wykes and Jordan McInerney. Board 4 winners were Ray Harte and Davy Gonnelly. Conor and Cian beat Hughie and Padraic in the first semi-final while Ray and Davy won semi-final 2 defeating Simon and Jordan in the other semi-final. Conor and Cian went one-up in the final but in the next game, with Ray waiting to come in to hit a double, Conor took out a 72 checkout finishing on the Bull. This seemed to put Conor and Cian in pole position but Ray and Davy came back superbly winning three legs on the trot to lead 3-2. Cian and Conor levelled matters to send the match into a deciding leg. Brilliant darts was thrown by both teams but Ray hit the winning double to claim the Ralph/Gore Family Cup with Davey Gonnelly. Big thanks to all sponsors especially Mullens Takeaway, Roden Place for supplying the food on the night Big thanks to Dermot Ralph and the family for allowing the cup to be played for. This coming Friday night, July 18, the Thomas and Richard Callan Memorial Shield will be played for in the Northend Bar.
