Has Private Credit Peaked? Dimon Warns It May Have.
Andrew here. I made a cameo at the live taping of the 'Acquired' podcast at Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday, where Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase was quizzed about his remarkable history at the banking giant. But what you should pay attention to are the comments Dimon made about the stock market — 'asset prices are rather high,' he said — and his concerns about private credit. More on that below. We're also taking a look at what Tuesday's data on consumer prices means for the Fed, at Zohran Mamdani's meeting with top New York C.E.O.s and at the crypto industry's continued relief from Washington. JPMorgan's private-credit worries JPMorgan Chase's C.E.O., Jamie Dimon, has been fairly consistently skeptical when it comes to private credit, the nontraditional and less-regulated lending business that has been among Wall Street's hottest activities in recent years. He kept up that concern on Tuesday, warning that such lending might be set for a decline. But he wouldn't completely shut the door on buying a provider of such loans as part of an effort to get back into the sector. 'You may have seen peak private credit,' Dimon told analysts on JPMorgan's earnings call with analysts on Tuesday, with the caveat, 'I don't know that.' When pressed by Mike Mayo, a banking analyst at Wells Fargo, he added: 'Well, I've mentioned that credit spreads are very low. It's grown dramatically over time, and you have to pay up a lot for it.' In other words, private-credit firms are currently accepting relatively little return in exchange for taking on risk, and the industry has grown significantly in the past several years. At a taping of the 'Acquired' podcast at Radio City Music Hall later in the day, Dimon called private credit 'one place that people worry has unknown leverage.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Boygenius' Lucy Dacus Has Never Been On a Date
There's a first time for everything. And for Grammy-award winning artist Lucy Dacus, her appearance on the latest episode of Blind Date marked her first time on a full-on, proper date. To be very clear, this isn't due to lack of romantic interest, but rather because Lucy is a noted friends-to-lovers truther! (Fans of her relationship with fellow Boygenius group member Julien Baker know this well.) On Blind Date, she shared that she was friends with Julien for nine years before things became romantic and friends with her previous partner for even longer. It's safe to say she's a big fan of the long game. While things are smooth sailing for Lucy in the relationship department now, she is no stranger to unrequited love, either. It's what she faced during a frankly traumatizing middle school dance experience—one she was courageous enough to discuss during the new episode. But there have been brighter days since the dark one in that middle school auditorium for Lucy, too! Now you can catch her performing for sold-out crowds at Radio City Music Hall and promoting her highly-lauded solo album Forever Is a Feeling. In between all of that action, she stopped by Blind Date with Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Willa Bennett to give dating advice, reveal what zodiac sign she had a bias for, and drop some much-needed wisdom. ("Everyone is entitled to their own crash and burn.") You can catch the full episode right above.

Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood Played a Couple on ‘Supergirl,' Then Really Fell in Love
Actors Melissa Benoist (The Waterfront) and Chris Wood (The Vampire Diaries) may have begun as Supergirl co-stars, but they've since become so much more. From going public with their romantic relationship in 2017 to welcoming their first child together three years later, the couple has quickly achieved some pretty important milestones. Here's everything we know about their relationship history. Benoist and Wood first met on the set of her DC Comics series Supergirl, where she played the titular character, Kara Zor-El (a.k.a. Supergirl). Wood joined the cast in season 2 as Mon-El, Supergirl's love interest. Benoist and Wood were spotted vacationing together in Cancún, Mexico, on March 28, 2017. On June 10, 2018, the new couple made their red carpet debut at the 72nd Tony Awards at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. On February 10, 2019, Benoist announced their engagement via Instagram. She captioned the photo with a simple, 'yes yes yes it will always be yes♥️' The couple got married later that year, on Sept. 1, 2019. Over Labor Day Weekend, they held an intimate wedding ceremony in Ojai, California. Celebrity guests included Paul Wesley and fellow Supergirl actress Odette Annable. A source told E!, 'It was a beautiful setting for a wedding, very peaceful and quiet. The vows were brief and lasted about 15 minutes. There was lots of cheering and applause as it ended.' The source continued, 'There were lots of glowing candles and lights strung above. The food was served family style, and everyone passed the dishes back and forth. It looked like an elegant outdoor dinner party. There was a lot of laughter and happiness.' Later that month, the newly married couple attended the Saturn Awards. On Nov. 15, 2019, Benoist posted an intimate wedding photo of her and Wood embracing with the caption, 'I'm always going to remember looking at you every five minutes on this day knowing both of us were thinking 'how in the world did we get so lucky?' I still don't understand how, but you prove to me every day that I'm one of the damn luckiest out there.' She also included a Dior tag on her white gown. On March 4, 2020, Benoist announced that they were expecting their first child together, writing, 'A non-canine child is coming to our family very soon!!! 😱😆😭 @christophrwood has always been an old dad by nature but now he's going to be a real one!' Wood also posted his own announcement that leaned more on the comical side. In the photo, Benoist is shown caressing his fake pregnant belly. He wrote, 'The photo is a joke but the news is real...!!! 👶🏻🍼🤗.' Later that month on March 20, Wood announced that they were having a boy. He posted a photo of his New Balance sneaker next to a much tinier one. 'My little boy is gonna rock 990s just like his dad, and that makes the world feel a little less sad today,' he shared. On Sept. 25, 2020, Benoist shared the first photo of their baby boy, Huxley Robert Wood. In her caption, she wrote that he was born 'a few weeks ago' and that he was 'everything.' Wood shared the same photo and cheekily wrote, 'Our son was born his name is Huxley he's amazing and no it's probably none of your business xo brb see you in 18 years.' On Nov. 4, 2022, Wood made his Broadway debut as the musician Russell Hammond in Almost Famous. Benoist joined him on the red carpet and shared photos on Instagram. In her caption, she wrote that she was 'so unbelievably proud' of him. Benoist wished Wood a happy Valentine's Day with a sweet photo of them on the beach. Deadline announced that the couple would play co-stars yet again in a forthcoming NBC series titled Duo, written and executive produced by Wood. The project is currently in development. Benoist will also executive produce via her production company, Three Things Productions.

A Century of Service: Burlington Lions Celebrate 100 Years of Giving
On June 24, the Burlington Lions Club celebrated their 100th anniversary as an organization at Mount Nemo Golf Club. The event was attended by current and former Lions alike, as well as the immediate past president of Lions International, Patti Hill. John Fanjoy, president of the Burlington Lions Club, spoke about what the celebration means to him. 'It's a hundred years of dedication to serving the community,' Fanjoy said. 'The Lions Club has endured through a lot of social changes over a hundred years. And we have a lot to celebrate because we have a lot of people that we support.' Fanjoy said that the Burlington Lions Club is working to raise its profile by hosting more events with their name front and centre, mentioning the Festival of Lights and the Music Hall events as examples. 'We're trying to elevate what the Lions do in the community so that people will say, 'I think I'd like to see what they're all about,'' Fanjoy said. 'We take the new ideas that our members bring, like the Music Hall, like the scholarships, and we bring them to life because our members see those needs in the community.' The Burlington Lions Club has also been refining their online presence, consolidating its various websites into one and consistently updating its Instagram and Facebook pages. The club has evolved and adapted since it was started in 1925. 'The Lions Club started out very modest, with 20 members, in the same location where we're at today, but in a different building,' Fanjoy said. He said that from the 1950s to the 1980s, the club was mainly focused on youth and sports initiatives, until other needs appeared. 'Society changed, and a need for mental health support [emerged], and food security slowly became an issue,' Fanjoy said. 'We sort of shifted our focus. We still do a lot with sports, but we give to a lot of other parts of the community as well.' With 48 current members, Fanjoy estimates the club collectively represents over 600 years of service and dedication. Despite this, Fanjoy said that their key focus is still finding new members. Later on in the evening, Fanjoy announced that the Burlington Lions Club is going to donate an additional $100,000 to community organizations this year, on top of the $160,000-plus they have already donated in 2025 so far. The Lions haven't decided whether the money will go to one or multiple organizations yet. Julian Austin, district governor for Lions Club International District 7-11, handed out three Chevron Awards to current Lions in recognition of their tenure as members of the club. Two were given out for 10-year anniversaries and one for 15. Four members were also named to the Melvin Jones fellowship program. The program recognizes members who have donated at least $1000 to the Lions Club International Foundation and is named after the organization's founder, Melvin Jones. Pravin Sharma, a member of the Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association, gave a speech to attendees and presented the club with a Spirit of Giving award for their $46,000 grant, which matched funds raised by community members for an ophthalmology ultrasound unit. Patti Hill, who spoke after Sharma, spoke about the importance of having a Lions Club in the community by speaking about what it would be like without one. 'I worry only for the communities that don't have a club like Burlington,' Hill said. 'I worry only for the communities where there is no one giving space for the Boy Scouts and the Girl Guides, or mental health and wellness. Where no one is inviting people who can't afford paid entertainment to come out and enjoy the Lions' Festival of Lights or the Lions' park and playground.' 'Lions hold together the fabric of our society, without them, we can see when societies begin to unravel,' Hill continued. 'That happens when no one's willing to step up and do the good work for others. But I'm not worried about Burlington because you're here. You've been here for a hundred years, and you have plans for going forward, and for that, let me just say congratulations.' Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request.
