I'm a sleep tech tester — 5 Prime Day deals from $9 I'd snap up if I was sharing a dorm this semester

Shared dorms can be noisy, and you and your dorm buddies may not always have the same night light preferences or sleep schedules. So, heading back to school with a toolbox of effective sleep tech is key to getting quality rest between lectures, social events and finals. Top of your cart should be an affordable but reliably supportive mattress for college students. Then you can think about gadgets that will help you block out ambient light and noise to get the best possible sleep this year. It's the final day of Amazon Prime Day sleep deals and I've been shopping to bring you the last remaining offers on such gadgets. My team of sleep experts and I have tested them ourselves and can assure you they are worthy investments. If I was heading back to college this summer with a spare $10 to $50, here's what I'd buy... 1. Loop Quiet 2 Ear Plugs: was $27.95 now $16.95 at AmazonThere's no doubt you'll have at least one night this semester where you'll need to block out rowdy roomies to get to sleep. Our sleep editor Lauren used these earplugs when sleeping next door to a nightclub and found they were effective at masking loud music and revelers. The Loop Quiet 2 Ear Plugs are 39% off for Prime members now, cutting the cost to $16.95 — we think that's a fantastic deal considering they are super comfortable and reusable. User score: ★★★★ (based on 12,520+ reviews) 2. Musicozy Sleep Headphones: was $25.99 now $15.19 at AmazonThe Musicozy sleep headband is a two-in-one sleep gadget combining sleep headphones with a sleep mask to block out both light and noise. In short, it's a dorm-sharers dream. Our tester Ruth says the Musicozy's light masking is "exceptional" and surround sound is "immersive". It's still 42% off for the final day of Prime deals, so if you buy now you can get it for just $15.19 (was $25.99) — cha-ching! User score: ★★★★ (based on 23,300+ reviews) 3. COMLIFE Portable Handheld Misting Fan: was $19.99 now $9.49 at AmazonLet's be honest, sharing a dorm room can get stuffy and sometimes downright sweaty, so having a cooling sleep companion to hand is a wise move. This simple fan comes complete with a small water tank so you can mist yourself before bed to reach the best temperature for sleeping well. It's half price today at a bargain $9.49 (was $19.99) — now is the time to order to get it before the next heatwave. User score: ★★★★½ (based on 6,720+ reviews) 4. Bob and Brad eye massager: was $74.97 now $49.98 at AmazonThe Bob and Brad EyeOasis 2 Eye Massager is a digital eye mask that combines heat, pressure and acupressure to relieve stress and strained eyes. It does this while blocking out light so you drift off into a more restful sleep. Essentially it delivers dreamy eye relief after you've been staring at a laptop all day, powering through assignments. This is your last chance to bag 33% off this gadget, with the price at $49.98 (down from $74.97). It's more of a splurge than other sleep masks, but your mid-finals tired eyes will thank you for it. User score: ★★★★½ (based on 1,830+ reviews) 5. MyHalos sleep mask: was $12.99 now $10.39 at AmazonIf you prefer a reliable light-blocking sleep mask without the bells and whistles of the Musicozy headband or Bob and Brad's eye massager, this memory foam mask is a great choice. It's made with ultra-soft, breathable fabric and puts zero pressure on your eyes, so you can bag a comfortable night's sleep even if your dorm mate likes a night light. There's 20% off for the final day of Amazon Prime deals, so if you act fast you can grab it for under $11 — at that price it's a no-brainer. User score: ★★★★½ (based on 12,410+ reviews)

I'm a sleep tech writer — my 5 top picks from the final Memorial Day sales

As a sleep tech writer, I've tried my fair share of sleep gadgets over the last nine months — from sleep headbands to the best sunrise alarm clocks and sleep trackers, each of which can elevate your nighttime routine in its own way. One of this year's best mattresses for your sleep style and body type should be your first investment for better sleep, but there's also plenty of sleep tech tackling specific sleep needs, be that blocking out light pollution, tracking your overnight heart rate or being soothed to sleep by sound. The Memorial Day sleep sales are wrapping up, but there's still time to grab some lingering deals, like 38% off the Musicozy sleep headband at Amazon and $100 off the Oura Ring sleep tracker. Here's are the sleep Oura Ring Generation 3: was from $299 now from $199 at OuraSleek and reliable, the Oura Ring Gen 3 is currently my favorite sleep tracker. Although it's not the latest model from Oura it does everything you'd want a sleep tracker to do — it measures sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep stages to collate a nightly sleep score and daily energy 'readiness' rating — all while sitting comfortably on your finger. As Oura are trying to shift their Oura Ring 3 stock (I spy an upgrade on the horizon), they have knocked $100 off select colors and designs. This means you can bag a silver or black heritage design Oura Ring 3 for just $199 now. That beats the Black Friday price by $150, but you must grab it while stocks last. Apple Watch Series 10: was $399 now $299 at WalmartThe Apple Watch 10 is another leading, reliable sleep tracker that can help you keep tabs on your sleep metrics and day to day health. Impressively, the Apple Watch 10 also has an FDA-authorized sleep apnea detection feature alongside similar sleep tracking metrics, helping you get a handle on your sleep issues. This is the thinnest and lightest Apple watch yet. Our reviewer says: "It's the best smartwatch I've ever strapped to my wrist in terms of comfort," which is great news when you have to wear it overnight. There's up to $100 off select colors at Walmart now, reducing the Apple Watch 10 to $299 from $399. Musicozy Sleep Headband: was $25.99 now $15.99 at AmazonThe Musicozy sleep headband is a two-in-one sleep gadget. It has built-in headphones through which you can play relaxing sleep sounds and it sits comfortably over your eyes, acting as a light-blocking sleep mask. It is made from a soft velvet, stretchy cotton that fits around your head and covers your eyes, with extra cushioning to enhance comfort no matter your sleep position. Amazon are knocking 38% off the Musicozy headband in a limited time deal bringing this budget sleep gadget to just $15.99 (was $25.99). The Smart Cooling Mattress Topper: was from $1,399 now from $1,099 at Perfectly SnugLike the best smart beds and mattress covers you can buy right now, this smart mattress topper adds an active temperature-regulating layer to your mattress to help you beat the night sweats and sleep peacefully. This in-bed cooling system actively delivers cool air beneath you while you sleep to keep your body temperature down at the best temperature for sleeping. You can current;y save $300 with the code MEMORIAL25. At $1,599 for a queen size after this discount, it is the most expensive gadget here. But it is still much cheaper than other climate control mattress covers like the Eight Sleep Pod 4 at $2,649. Flikeze PhotonMask Quint: was $459 now $239.99 at FlikezePrimarily a beauty product, but surprisingly a sleep-enhancing product, an LED red-light face mask is a great addition to your bedtime routine. The red light helps you relax and feel sleepy by promoting melatonin production, ultimately prompting quicker sleep onset so you don't spend crucial sleep time tossing and turning. I tested the Flikeze LED mask to see how it could help me sleep back in January and it still remains a staple in my nighttime wind-down routine. You can save $219 on this LED face mask now cutting the price to $239.99, which is a great deal on a gadget that can improve your skin health and sleep.

Amazon Deals of the Day: Celebrate Sleep Week With 25% Off Our Favorite Budget Sleep Headphones

Amazon is the biggest online retailer with millions of products in home goods, tech, wellness and more. The online retail giant slashes prices on products across the board every day helping you score some big savings. But with such a large number of deals, sorting through them to find the best bargains can feel like a huge task. CNET's Deals team researches the discounts to find the best ones and brings you only the top deals on Amazon. Today, we found some of our favorite sleep headphones for 25% off in honor of Sleep Week. But that's not all, we also found a SanDisk portable SSD, one of our favorite external hard drives, for over $30 off. And finally, we spotted the Netgear Wi-Fi 7 router for an impressive $50 off. Musicozy sleep headphones: $18 (save $8) See at Amazon It may be Sleep Week but there are plenty of deals you don't want to be sleeping on, including the Musicozy sleep headphones. These are some of our favorite headphones for sleeping -- our favorite budget option, in fact -- and now they're even cheaper. Normally sitting at around $26, you can get a set now for just $18. We love these headphones because the headband design is lightweight and comfortable. CNET sleep expert Aly Lopez checked them out and stated, "The spandex-nylon material is light and breathable, and I found the band so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing it during the day as I worked." SanDisk 1TB Extreme portable SSD: $96 (save $34) See at Amazon We've declared the SanDisk 1TB Extreme portable SSD to be the best portable SSD in 2025. We like that it has a rugged design that has a with an IP65 rating, meaning a splash of water won't destroy the device. It also has a fast transfer speed of up to 1,050MB/s, just over 1GB per second. This SSD normally retails for $130 but right now you can save $34, bringing this right under $100 at $96. Netgear Nighthawk RS500 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router: $350 (save $50) See at Amazon Having a strong Wi-Fi router in your home can have a big impact on your day to day life. This router by Netgear is Wi-Fi 7. Wi-Fi 7 provides faster speeds, improved latency, reliability and the ability to handle multiple devices at once compared to its predecessor the Wi-Fi 6. This specific one from Netgear is a beast, it can handle speeds of up to 12Gbps and 120 devices. It covers up to 3,000 sqaure feet. And for a limited time you can take $50 off the full price, bringing it down to $350. With so many different deals, deciding which ones are worth buying can be hard. That's why CNET searches through everything the world's biggest online retailer has to offer before gathering the best deals.
