Teachers allowed to apply for transfers after two years service
KUCHING: Teachers can now apply for transfers after serving a minimum of two years, the education ministry said.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the applications could be submitted without any additional conditions.
The move follows longstanding concerns from teachers about transfer delays and limited flexibility.
The favourable news comes as teachers across Malaysia celebrate Teachers' Day.
It was one of six pieces of good news announced by Fadhlina for educators nationwide, in conjunction with the 54th Teachers' Day celebration held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.
In addition, the Education Ministry has deployed 1,470 MyPg personnel (teaching assistants) for this year, with selected schools based on set criteria to receive two such assistants.
As the third initiative, 32 teachers who are recipients of the IKON Award, Innovative Teacher Award, Special Education Award, and Distinguished Teacher Award in conjunction with the national-level Teachers' Day celebration will have the opportunity to gain experience working at international schools in the United Kingdom under the Global Immersion for Future-Ready Teachers (GIFT) Programme.
For the fourth initiative, the Education Ministry will send selected teachers and officers abroad to attend short-term courses to acquire knowledge and experience in specific fields.
The fifth initiative offers a 20 per cent discount on flight tickets for teachers to all destinations via the MH GoM portal, while the sixth involves a 20–30 per cent discount on book purchases made online using the MoE's DELIMa ID.
