Peter Andre bags huge new role and plans TV return after Jafaican backlash

Mysterious Girl hitmaker Peter Andre has landed a brand new TV drama role as he has started filming already following backlash for his Jafaican film earlier this year Peter Andre has received a boost after the backlash from his latest film project as he has landed a new TV show. The Mysterious Girl hitmaker is set to appear in his very first drama role. ‌ He has been hit with criticisms over his latest movie, Jafaican, in which he stars as a faux gangster. Peter took centre stage in Fredi Nwaka's latest comedy romp – playing hustler Gary Buckle who tries to be mob boss Denton 'Kill Man' Powell donning a fake dreadlock wig and putting on a Jamaican accent. ‌ The flick has been marred by accusations of cultural appropriation and being labelled "tone-deaf" by some viewers. At the time, Peter brushed off critics and has already moved onto a new project. ‌ He will appear in Channel 5's new programme The Sunshine Murders, which also stars Stephanie Beacham, Camilla Rutherford and Nick Moran. It is due to air in September and the murder mystery sees Peter take on a starring role. The TV star is set to take on a serious position on the show as he dons a white doctor's coat and clinical rubber gloves to examine victims of gruesome murders. He returned to his parent's homeland of Cyprus to shoot the series, with son Junior heading out to support him. ‌ It comes after Peter defended his stint in Jafaican as he said: "I think it's very easy to criticise something based on a trailer. I would say 'Go and watch the film first,' you will see what the film is about and you will see the context." He continued to tell the Daily Star: "A critic should also be able to criticise, so I understand how it is." Peter also acknowledged that the film wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. ‌ In defence of his work, Peter commented: "In regards to critics, I think it is really important for people to all have different opinions. "I don't think it is right to just expect everyone to like what you're doing, but I've always said that, you know, in anything I've ever done I've always had people saying: 'Don't do that, you shouldn't do that, that's not the right song to release, that's not a good video clip." He went on to insist: "If I sat and listened to everybody telling me what not to do, I would never have achieved anything! I think sometimes you have to just go outside of your comfort zone and push yourself." Peter's eldest children Princess and Junior have been by his side at a recent a red carpet screening for the film. While promoting the movie on Australian TV earlier in the month, Peter said of the criticism: "Well, to be fair, I mean, I think it's good to get all sorts of feedback. "I mean, this is not... it's my first lead role but I've done quite a few roles before. And all of them, I've played different characters."

Peter Andre reveals 'most embarrassing' moment after huge on-air blunder

Peter Andre has opened up about the on-air experience he wishes to forget in his latest column with OK! saying it was 'so embarassing'. Peter Andre has opened up about the 'most embarrassing moments of his life', as he shares his thoughts on Lady Gaga's recent tumble during a recent gig in the US. ‌ The American hitmaker was kicking off the Mayhem Ball at the T-Mobile Arena on July 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada as she was spotted losing her footing and falling over during the performance. As the star moved towards the barrier to engage with her front-row fans she fell over whilst performing one of her tracks Vanish Into You. ‌ ‌ In the clips shared online, the star could be seen stumbling as she walked passed a cameraman, who nearly lost his balance too, just before she rather ironically sang the lyrics, "Into the night ... we fall," and then crashed to the floor, landing on her backside. However Lady GaGa bounced back like a professional and carried on her stroll by the barrier, the Mirror reports. Peter who is currently finishing a new album and best known for his 90s smash Mysterious Girl, commented on Lady GaGa's mishap in his exclusive column with OK! this week about what he describes as one of the: "I saw Lady Gaga 's awkward faceplant at a gig. It's awful when that happens. But I doubt she'll be having sleepless nights over it – these things happen during live shows." ‌ He continued, referencing the notorious moment when the Queen of Pop Madonna tumbled down stairs whilst performing Living for Love at the 2015 Brit Awards, before admitting he'd experienced similar mortification: "Look at the Madonna incident, for example. Admittedly, on a smaller scale, it happened to me once on the T4 stage." "Walking down steps, I tripped and fell. It was so embarrassing – and it was on TV. But people forget... until you remind them about it, which I just did." ‌ During a 2023 episode of Sky's Extraordinary Life Stories, Peter reflected on the unforgettable blunder whilst performing live on stage, sharing the cringe-worthy moment from the T4 on The Beach festival in 2009 with presenter John Reynolds. The dad-of-five stated: "I appeared on the episode to discuss lots of topics, including my childhood, career highlights and family life. We also discussed the funny moments in my career, including my unfortunate trip off the stage at T4 On The Beach, among other things." The accident happened whilst Peter was belting out his then-latest track Behind Closed Doors. He stumbled whilst singing to the packed audience and ended up plummeting straight off the stage, his glasses flying off in the process. However, demonstrating true professionalism, he persevered and refused to let the fact his glasses slid of his face prevent him from completing his performance.

Peter Andre shares striking throwback snap from his heyday as a pop star, with the now 52-year-old rocking a wild haircut

Peter Andre shared a throwback photo from his heyday as a popstar more than 30 years ago to his Instagram on Tuesday. The snap, taken in 1993, showed the singer, now 52, in his early twenties posing for a photo alongside his hairstylist brother Michael Andre. And Peter looked strikingly different all those years ago, with the singer - who at that point hadn't yet released his smash single Mysterious Girl - rocking a particularly wild haircut and a clean-shaven face. Accompanying the photo on his Instagram Stories was Andre's 1993 tune To The Top, which featured on his self-titled debut album released the same year. He captioned the throwback photo: 'My brother Mike and me in 1993'. Peter, from a Greek-Cypriot family, grew up in Australia before first gaining recognition when he featured on the country's talent show New Faces in 1990. He earned a record deal following the series, but it wasn't until five years later that his iconic track, Mysterious Girl, was released. The tune shot to number two on the on the charts, followed by his number one album Natural which dropped a year later. It wasn't until around nine years later however that Peter experienced another increase in popularity when he featured on the 2004 series of ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, where he met Katie Price. The pair struck up a whirlwind romance during their time in the jungle, and tied the knot the following year. Their marriage lasted around four years with the couple splitting in 2009, with it long rumoured that Peter and Katie split over her close relationship with dressage rider Andrew Gould. And just weeks ago Katie, now 47, revealed the truth about the speculation during an appearance on Paul C Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast. 'We broke up because he thought I was having an affair with my dressage rider, and I've never slept with him. I just kept my horse there, and I was happy keeping my horse there, and he was married,' she said. 'But when me and Pete split, because he used to keep saying, "That's it. I've had enough. I've had enough". It got to a point where I went, "Well f***ing divorce me". And I remember the day, because then I flew to the Maldives with the kids. 'That day, I'm at the airport, it's all on Sky News, it wasn't mutual at all. And then I released a statement saying I don't want to split with Pete, it's Pete that's splitting with me. Until this day, me and Pete have never sat down and spoken about it. 'It's all through lawyers. I've never sat down with him, we probably would've sorted it out but we were kept apart.' And Peter later opened up about navigating exes and break ups in his column for Now! Magazine. Addressing Zara McDermott's ex and new boyfriend coming face to face recently, he shared: 'Sam Thompson and Louis Tomlinson were both at Soccer Aid together for an incredible cause. The fact they've both been involved with Zara McDermott at some point is secondary for me. 'I think people will always try to make a fuss about dramas with exes, but we don't know what happened, and having been part of Soccer Aid in the past, I know people just focus on the game and the cause, everything else is left off the pitch. That's how it should be.' Peter later found love again with Dr Emily MacDonagh, 35, with the couple tying the knot in 2015. They went onto welcome three children, Amelia, 11, Theodore, eight, Arabella, one, while Andre also shares Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, with Katie.

Peter Andre shares hilarious clip of daughter Princess, 18, lip syncing to his 1995 hit Mysterious Girl

Peter Andre has shared a hilarious clip of his teenage daughter Princess lip-syncing to his 1995 hit Mysterious Girl. The singer turned reality star, now 52, shot to fame as a nineties heartthrob and the track remains his biggest hit to date, charting at number two in the UK in 1995 and topping the charts in 2004 following Peter's stint on I'm A Celebrity. Sharing the clip to his Instagram stories alongside laughing emoji on Sunday, Peter wrote: 'When your daughter sends you this from Mexico '. The video shows Princess, who recently turned 18, happily singing along to her dad's hit song in a bar before she jokes 'sorry!' Peter welcomed Princess with his ex-wife Katie Price, 47, back in 2007 after the pair famously met and fell in love on I'm A Celebrity. The former couple, who split in 2009, also share son Junior, 20, and the youngsters whose early lives were documented on reality TV are keen to stay in the spotlight. Princess's lip-syncing comes less than a month after Peter wished her a happy 18th birthday. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he wrote: 'Not enough words. So much love. My little girl is no longer a little girl. Keep being you. Kind, funny, sensitive, considerate and a bit bonkers….. oh, and a diva. But a diva full of heart. 'I know I tell you everyday but I'll say it again. I love you so much. Happy 18th beautiful and please stay happy. But be careful in this crazy world. Im always here. Always. Dad.' Princess also celebrated the milestone on her own Instagram, sharing a snap of herself posing with a cake. She has been sharing life updates with fans herself and also recently revealed that she had passed her driving test back in May. Princess, who has established herself as a makeup and beauty influencer, is currently filming an ITV documentary about her life - but her mum Katie has been banned from appearing in it by Peter's management company, The Can Group. The revelation was made by Katie herself last week, who revealed that her teenage daughter is staying at her dad's house during filming. She told her sister Sophie on The Katie Price Show podcast: 'It's only because she has been filming that she has been at Pete's because obviously I'm not allowed anywhere near it. She has only got about two weeks left of filming.' Princess's lip-synching comes less than a month after Peter wished her a happy 18th birthday Katie said: 'Princess is now officially an adult so mummy and Princess can now go out together. If certain people would let her be seen with me.' Sophie said: 'I noticed in her 18th birthday pictures she was wearing the shoes you bought her for Christmas.' 'Oh did she? I love that,' Katie said. Katie added: 'Everyone knows she's doing this documentary - and I'm not in it. Certain people don't think it's good for Princess to be seen with me. Certain people that used to look after me.' Her sister said: 'You aren't on brand Katie. You are too risky Katie that's why. Katie added: 'It's pathetic. I'm her mother. It's so sad. When certain people who used to look after me are now looking after...' Her sister Sophie then urged Katie to 'save it for another day.' The PR group previously managed Katie and now continues to work with Peter, Princess, and Junior.
