Third Wave Coffee opens 11 new outlets in India
India's speciality coffee chain Third Wave Coffee has launched 11 new cafes simultaneously across the cities of Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Mysuru. This expansion increases its footprint to 165 outlets across 12 cities, surpassing its fiscal year 2025 (FY25) target of 150. The achievement highlights the brand's swift ascent in the competitive café industry. Established in 2015, it has become one of India's most rapidly expanding café chains and in June 2024 unveiled its plan to open 50 new stores. The latest cafés are strategically placed in residential areas and major transit points, as well as bolstering its presence in core city markets. A key addition is an outlet on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, marking the brand's venture into travel-oriented formats. It also builds on its expansion into newer cities such as Chennai and Mysuru, which was initiated in 2024. The brand's growth supports its FY26 ambition to open more than 100 additional outlets. Its approach focuses on maintaining profitability alongside expansion in varied settings such as residential zones, business districts and travel corridors to deliver a uniform customer experience. Third Wave Coffee CEO Rajat Luthra stated: 'Over the last few years, our focus has been on building a business that scales sustainably — with a sharp focus on store-level profitability, operational efficiency and capital discipline. 'In 2024, we also commissioned a new roastery with eight times the automation capability, significantly enhancing our capacity to support up to 700 stores. These efforts have led to stronger store-level ROI [return on investment] and a more disciplined, scaleable growth model.' 'We're focused on meeting our consumers where they are, with the same consistent experience they expect from us. We'd love to bring Third Wave Coffee to more neighbourhoods and are always open to hearing from our community.' Bengaluru Rural district likely to be renamed Bengaluru North to gain brand edge
BENGALURU: After renaming Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South, the state govt is now considering a proposal to rename Bengaluru Rural district as 'Bengaluru North', a move that sources say is aimed at replicating the branding and development benefits seen in the Ramanagara renaming exercise. The proposal is expected to come up for discussion during the state cabinet meeting scheduled to be held at Nandi Hills, near Bengaluru, on Wednesday. Officials said the cabinet will also take up a proposal to rename Bagepalli town in Chikkaballapur district as Bhagyanagar. It was formally carved out as a separate district on Aug 15, 1986. In 2007, the district was further bifurcated to form Ramanagara district, which has now been renamed as Bengaluru South. "After the Ramanagara renaming, there has been a strong demand from MLAs of Bengaluru Rural and some Bengaluru ministers. They believe the 'rural' tag is deceiving investment in their district," said a govt source familiar with the matter. There has also been a long-standing demand from certain quarters to rename Bengaluru Rural after 18th-century Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan, who was born in Devanahalli, located in the district. Last month, the govt formally approved the decision to rename Ramanagara as Bengaluru South. The move, originally proposed in 2023, had sparked mixed reactions. While some hoped it would bring more infrastructure and attention to the area, others feared it would erase Ramanagara's distinct identity. Despite these concerns, the govt went ahead with the renaming without much public consultation on the implications for the region's cultural and historical identity. The outcome of Wednesday's cabinet discussion will determine whether Bengaluru Rural gets a new name - and, perhaps, a new direction. Mandya MFI official abducts 2 minors to recover EMI
Mandya: There have been several incidents in the recent past when a section of microfinance institutions (MFIs) operating in Karnataka have been found guilty of adopting unethical loan-recovery methods, prompting the state govt to introduce stringent legal measures to regulate such firms and ensure protection of consumer rights. However, despite the legal safeguards, the menace reared its ugly head yet again as this latest incident in Mandya district reveals, where an executive from a microfinance firm allegedly abducted two minors on Monday over a loan instalment that was reportedly overdue by only a few days. Police said the accused kidnapped two cousins, a minor girl, 7, and a boy, 13, from their home in Chilkunda village while their parents were away, apparently to show him the way to the girl's mother's workplace, where he confronted her over the unpaid EMI. Though the children were later dropped back home by the accused, the minor girl's father filed an FIR on Friday, accusing the finance company and its executive of kidnapping the two children and insulting his wife. The complaint attracts provisions of a new law governing microfinance institutions in the state under the Karnataka Micro Loan and Small Loan (Prevention of Coercive Actions) Act, 2025. Speaking in Bengaluru, home minister G Parameshwara assured that if there was any wrongdoing, strict action would be initiated against the offenders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Speel gratis in je browser – Geen download of installatie nodig! "When we asked the children, they said they were not abused, or threatened by the accused, who was warned and let off," Ravichandra added. Sources claimed the finance company official had taken the two children on his bike to the workplace of the girl's mother, who is employed in an incense stick rolling unit.
