Justin Timberlake Is Receiving Backlash for 'Not Singing' at His Concerts
Justin Timberlake has been in the music biz for a minute now, and the 10-time Grammy winner is still promoting his material with live performances on tour. While he wrapped up his Forget Tomorrow World Tour back in February, J.T. is performing at a slew of international music festivals. Let's just aren't exactly thrilled with their recent experience during his sets.
Amid recent appearances at the Electric Castle music festival in Romania and Lollapalooza in Paris, the singer is receiving backlash from concert-goers as he only sang parts of his chart-topping songs. According to fan-captured footage, Justin was giving hype man instead of headliner when he kept pointing his mic out to the crowd so they could sing along to his backing track during his Trolls number, 'CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!'
One attendee posted a video from the set, captioned 'Go Justin, give us nothing.' They added, 'We waited for Justin Timberlake in the rain for hours at Electric Castle, only for him to come on stage 45 minutes late. The issue wasn't the rain or even his outfit, it was that he didn't actually sing. Disappointing, especially for such a long-awaited performance.'
The comments section on the clip echoed that sentiment, with someone writing, 'I want my money back and I didn't even go,' and another adding, 'That performance could have been an email🤣.'
Fans even expressed their disappointment under Justin's Instagram post following the set, with one saying, 'You did not click with the crowd, the show felt soulless and bored, ended abruptly and earlier. It was disrespectful towards the many thousands of people waiting for you. Too bad, could have been a nice evening.'
In a separate video from Lollapalooza Paris, the former N*Sync member is seen awkwardly dancing and throwing ad-libs out to the crowd as his 'Cry Me a River' track plays. A critic in the comments section pointed out that the artist's energy levels fluctuated between songs, and he allegedly refrained from singing more than several lines at a time.
'The fact he did [this] for several songs is so upsetting. He needs to be humbled fast,' they wrote over the post, which read, 'Justin 'I Didn't Know I Was Supposed to Sing at My Concert' Timberlake.'
The singer hasn't addressed fans' concerns at this time. Still, he's set to hit the stage at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan, on July 27 and again at ITU Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 30.
